Jokes on you. That was already explained with that DS game called Super Princess Peach.
That game was unironically made for little girls and was piss easy. That's my point, either Kratos' wife will be super OP for no reason and make earlier games a joke or it will be a knockoff game meant for women(again, just like Forspoken).

If Princess Peach was the one saving Mario, then people would ask why she couldn't get her lazy ass out of Bowser's Castle herself all these games.
At least with Mario, it’s understood that the competence of pretty much every character varies wildly between games, depending on whatever would best serve gameplay.

This looks absolutely awful btw, it's like the exact opposite of cool.

It's nice to see regular hack-and-slash gameplay back in GOW, but there's still too much "modern gaming" touches in Laufey. The cube didn't need to exist, for one thing. Let the talking ribbon be your partner if you really need one.

Why though? I dislike it but it's ornate and magical looking, and high detail. It reads as something that I should find cool, but it's just not.
This could have descended from half decent concept art. But I think the problem is that the finished design came out too busy and too generic. The purple looks bad and she looks like she has a giant gem on her torso for some reason.

That stupid giant purple blob in the middle is ugly and shouldn't be the focal point on a suit of armor. Also, there should be boobs there instead of a giant ugly blob. I'm not even talking about fan service giant boobs or lingerie armor (although that probably sell more than this thing). Something tasteful with an average bust size to distingish that this armor is intended for a woman would be improvement over the sexless look.

Finally, and this is more of a nitpick, but why are there multiple belts? And if there is truly a need for three belts, then why the heck don't any of them match?

EDIT: This game's entire schtick is "you get to play as a female protagonist in GoW," but they won't actually give you feminine features in the armor. Instead, they're trying to sell a unisex armor set as a means of boosting pre-orders. It's tonally inconsistent.

Frankly, even the few women out there ready to pay $70 at launch for this game probably aren't wow'd by this armor, either. Women like to look good in video games, too. Again, the armor doesn't need to be fan service-y, but flat-as-a-board bust with pregnant blob in the waist proportions doesn't look fashionable or badass or womanly to anyone not on a corporate board.

And the kicker? You know darn well that if Faye was a tranny, then they would have given her the biggest tits in the game like they did that troon character in Concord. PS5-era Playstation will bend over backwards to give a man boobs, but not the female protagonist in her own freaking game.

Trying to figure out why it looks so bad. It looks like some kind of Dynasty warriors armour but that has a certain styling to it instead of this hyper real look.

Also is it me or is her head too large for her body here? It’s like she has the lithe body type but is trying to wear armour?

The problem is that it does sell. Allegedly Snoyverine has sold 1.9 million copies for an estimated gross revenue of $130M. If we assume this is true, and that the game had a typical revenue split (30% to Sony 70% to the studio) then they would have made $91M.
You forgot the 40% cut Marvel takes from every sale, so you might want to re-crunch those numbers.
1.9 million makes it one of the best selling video games ever
What the fuck are you talking about? It doesn't even come close to scratching the top 50 (number 49/50 are both at 25 million btw).

Even limiting scope to just the PS5 it doesn't crack the top 20, which is especially embarrassing given the PS5 has no fucking games.

It reeks of overdesign, like the concept artist sat down to draw some cool armour and never stopped. This can work in the case of something like 40k or Darksiders where everything is deliberately exaggerated, but in the more grounded world of nu-GoW it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Everyone is saying Korean MMOs, but to me it looks like the shit they used to put on graphics card boxes.

It's sure nice they made Kratos unable to jump, be agile or use magic in the new games, so they had an excuse to bring this female character in.
It isn't like there was a smaller, more agile, magic using character they spent the majority of the past two games building up who left to go on their own adventure at the end of the second game.

Don't get me wrong I'd have zero interest in the Atreus game too, but that seemed like the next step they were building towards.

I will absolutely take a Laufey game over whinging Atreus and his negress sidekick if that's what it comes down to.

Any time I had to play as that sour-faced little prick in Ragnarok my soul left my body, especially since everything he tried to do either failed or ended up being a pointless waste of time (but then that describes Ragnarok as a whole).
