Yeah...about that..... Screenshot_20230110-115231_NewPipe.jpg
Funniest part?? They're trying to deny it so hard.
PCGamer said:
According to a translation from Genki_JPN on Twitter, Yoshida claimed "nobody said a word about a PC version releasing," adding "why is it like a PC version is releasing six months later? Don't worry about that, buy a PS5!"
LOL, cut the fucking shit, Squeenix. You're going to release it on PC sooner rather than later because the PS5 sales ain't gonna cover the mahoosive budget of FFXVI.

I don't think you understood what I meant when I said they're expanding in Korea and China.

They're investing in their corporate structure, and you have them funding a lot of games intended for an international release. I'm not talking about sales. This is a change from both the PS3 and PS4 era. And people do wind up playing mobile games on consoles and PC because that's how Genshin Impact took off and that seems to be Sony's model for what they want for their freemium games.

So they've abandoned Japan for Korea and China. Your words, nigger. Tat's why there are no Japanese games.

Completing with the vid in question:

吉田P「なんかね、巷ではね、『PC版が~』とか言ってますけど、PC版が出るなんて誰も一言も言ってないよ。
なんでPC版が半年後に出るかのような感じになってんの?
いいからPS5買えっつの。」

It was a niche genre back then. While there were certainly people who played and enjoyed turn based games in the west, it wasn't a massive genre. Final Fantasy III (6) sold well, but FF VII was viewed as a system seller. And Pokemon got Nintendo so much money that they could probably buy a couple of small countries.

The success of those games got a lot of turn based jrpgs localized that probably never would have seen the light of day over here. So while saying Americans didn't like it isn't totally accurate, I do think it's fair to say the genre wasn't really 'mainstream.'
Almost everything was a niche genre at that time and games were still seen as something for children and basement dwellers. Gaming itself wasn't even mainstream yet if you ask me. You know what, jRPGs is probably still a niche (that makes a lot of people go "urgh") and if you combine the sales of the 10 best jRPG releases of 2022 they probably didn't even sell as well as a poor performing Call of Duty. Or a FIFA. Those are mainstream titles.

Just to make Marissa look like a bigger faggot (if that's possible) here are some PS3 imports from Korea to prove I'm not lying.
Biohazard HD Chronicles (PS3 port of the two Wii lightgun games), Darkstalkers collection, Echochrome 2, Remember Me, Sengoku Basara Collection and Siren are all Korean releases.

And here's a copy of Rain for good measure. Don't know why it's not mixed in with the others.

And even Nintendo had a presence in Korea. All of these games are in English (except Japanese Twilght Princess), but J-region with Korean manuals, showing even Nintendo had a presence in Korea as far back as the GC/PS2 era.

That's really interesting. You never hear much about Korean-region games elsewhere. Are those Gamecube games in Japanese-style slipcovers?

Doesn't help again that the consumer growth of PC platform has exploded like crazy in Japan too (which I believe virtual youtubers played a part of it although that's my guess).
Yeah, YouTubers, plus, you just don't need a powerful PC to play games anymore. Even laptops with integrated graphics can run Xbox 360-era games now. I'm sure Steam Deck's doing gangbusters, too.

advancements in tech/cheaper manufacturing, so possibly bigger cut for sony (or less loss each unit) and improvements like less heat/noise. apparently they already switched from 7nm in the launch model to 6nm for example.

keep in mind slim != pro, hardware revisions go back decades.

Even tho Sony and Microsoft both tried cashing in on the whole "motion controls" gimmick when it was way too late and the Wii fad had worn off, at least Sony had the common sense to abandon Playstation Move when that failed to sell instead of forcing people to buy it with the PS4 like Microsoft did with the Kinect/Xbox One, and Microsoft even gave their pathetic excuse that the "kinect was a vital part of the Xbox One", and yet they dropped the kinect from the Xbone less than a year after it came out
in sony's defense move wasn't anything new, just repurposing existing tech. it was basically building on ps2's eye toy, and even got used for PSVR on the ps4 for it's wagglan controls (and working surprisingly well all things considered). same reason the dualshock 4 has that big ass lightbar btw - which for all the hate it gets lets you use the gamepad in VR like you're used to, not even PC offers that (unless you jerry-rig something).

If people aren't understanding what you mean, maybe you should post what you really mean rather than stating it after your original statement was called out to not be true.

I don't get where the "PS3 was great after a few years" shit comes from. The console has 3 decent exclusives with God Of War 3, Folklore, and Demons Souls. Outside of that it was all movie garbage like Uncharted and Last of Us, or actual unmitigated garbage like Playstation Allstars, Twisted Metal reboot, White Knight Chronicles, and Killzone. Half the shit they announced for it didn't even come out for it like Nioh and The Last Guardian. It's like people think the only issues with that shitty system was that it was FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE US DOLLARS and looked like a George Foreman Grill.

Edit: The Final Faggot dev trying to lie about there not being a PC version is hysterical. I hope it bombs hard enough to bankrupt Square Enix now that they sold their only good developers and IPs like Deus Ex.

It's not entirely that it was "great" and the best console ever, it that it was successful and in the end was more successful than the 360 even after the absolute disaster that was its launch.

I don't know why you keep bringing them up. Sony don't own Kadokawa. They only have a small stock holding. Hell, Nintendo also owns stock in Kadokawa, and Kadokawa subsidiary Spike Chunsoft recently worked with Nintendo to remake Famicom Detective Club.
Actually, the Famicom Detective Club remakes were developed by MAGES (which just entered insolvency in December 2022, likely due of various mismanagement with their own projects). Originally MAGES (formerly 5pb) used to be owned by Dwango, and Kadokawa by extension, but was bought by Chiyo St Inc. (Chiyomaru's own studio) in 2019 before being sold to COLOP, a smartphone game studio (acquisition happened in 2020) which was the publisher of ShiroNeko Project, a mobile game where Nintendo sued them for violating their patents.

Otherwise yeah, Marissa is weirdly fixated on things that have little to no bearing with Playstation itself but he wants to pretend everything is going to keikaku.
Sony Music Japan owns Aniplex which has been publishing games on the Switch for a while now. A stock holding doesn't mean much by comparison.

Drakengard 3 and Yakuza: Dead Souls run like ass on original hardware though.

And I can't believe you forgot Yakuza 5 was a game that exists, AND eventually got localized for the US (digital only though lol).
