3-D Dot Game Heroes
Tokyo Jungle
Deception IV - Blood Ties
Siren Blood Curse
Rain
Puppeteer
The Witch and the Hundred Knight
Afrika
Disgaea 3 & 4
Lost Dimension
Drakengard 3
Hot Shots Golf
Guided Fate Paradox
Katamari Forever
Ni No Kuni
Wipeout Fury
Yakuza 3, 4 and Dead Souls
And MGS4.
Notice how most of them are Japanese games.
Also the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus remasters, despite them diddling the bloom in Ico, still better than the PS2 American release, which was released early and is missing a bunch of content. Its still the best version of Shadow though, Bluepoint is awful and should stick to just porting games. (not sure it counts as an exclusive though, since its ports)

Wipeout is the only non-Japanese game. A far cry from the Sony of today.

Resistance 3 was a true hidden gem that’s sadly still stuck on the PS3

Actually, the Famicom Detective Club remakes were developed by MAGES (which just entered insolvency in December 2022, likely due of various mismanagement with their own projects). Originally MAGES (formerly 5pb) used to be owned by Dwango, and Kadokawa by extension, but was bought by Chiyo St Inc. (Chiyomaru's own studio) in 2019 before being sold to COLOP, a smartphone game studio (acquisition happened in 2020) which was the publisher of ShiroNeko Project, a mobile game where Nintendo sued them for violating their patents.
Ah, yes, your right, my mistake. The point about everything else still stands though.

Was 3 that much of an improvement over 2? 1 was a interesting enough start to a series, but 2 leaned too hard into CoD-ification which made me skip over 3.
didn't get the hate for 2, but then I played it years later where 1 felt weirdly archaic. think I never played 3, certainly don't remember anything about it.

Yakuza 3 was borderline kusoge and, together with Dead Souls, the worst entry in the series. Tokyo Jungle, Hot Shots Golf and Katamari Forever were awesome, and, even if i did not like it, you definitly can't talk PS3 exclusives without mentioning MGS4, yeah. It's not a bad list but makes me realize that the PS3 library is dogshit compared to PS2 and PS1, i never really got into that system because of this.

Based Disgaea appreciator. Unfortunately you listed Dead Souls and Ni No Kuni so ya lost me a bit, but still. Happy to see love for Disgaea here.

Edit: Forgot to say that you forgot D2! It's bizarre that one never got a port, it's a direct sequel to the one Disgaea that people are most likely to be familiar with.

I really liked Ni No Kuni. I have the Wizard's Edition.

I completely forgot about D2.

Unpopular opinion but I didn't hate 3 the way people do. 0, Kiwami 2, and LAD are still based imo. Hopefully Ishin is great. I mean come on i get to run around Ye Old 1960s Edo in my long flowing robes slicing and shooting people up. What more could I ask for tthough fuck you not letting kaoru sayama be a main character because she'd hurt kiriyu's manpain or whatever

I actually really liked the first half of Y3. The orphanage stuff and the stuff in Okinawa was good, but it fell off in the second half.

And it's still better than Ass's Creed.

Your definition of a good game must be different from mine if you count MGS4, Dead Souls, and Drakengard 3 as examples. Most of the rest are either sub-par entries in existing franchises, borderline tech demos (Afrika), or shit so niche and small in size nobody with a right mind would spend hundreds of dollars on a console to play it.

LAD is a masterpiece, though the job system and post-game content could've been more fleshed out, i hope this gets deeper in the next game. I love the new gang and was very happy to see in the trailer that they put Zhao in the Shinsengumi in Ishin. I said it in various threads before but i'm incredibly hyped for Ishin, i'm currently relearning Riichi Mahjong basics in preparation.

What broke Y3 for me was that the fighting just wasn't fun, the main story was bad even by muh yakuza-soap-opera standards (though, like @IDanceonTrannyGraves said, the orphanage stuff was good, gotta love any time Kiryu is interacting with kids) and the substories felt lacklustre, new minigames were mostly meh, too. At least Y4 picked up in quality again and Y5 is a personal favourite, very good game.

Yakuza 3 was good but the golf minigame sucked ass. It's tough to be objective since we didn't get to play 5 in the US until much later. Also like you mentioned PS3 owners were not going to raise a stink when the console had barely any games on it.

Sony are getting banned in china because of a picture of a dog made the bugs go insane

I don't get where the "PS3 was great after a few years" shit comes from. The console has 3 decent exclusives with God Of War 3, Folklore, and Demons Souls. Outside of that it was all movie garbage like Uncharted and Last of Us, or actual unmitigated garbage like Playstation Allstars, Twisted Metal reboot, White Knight Chronicles, and Killzone.
I will defend Twisted Metal. The gameplay of that title was fantastic and it had a fun, but sadly short, story mode. It’s biggest issue was biting off more than it could chew as it was an online only download converted into a full release with an extra year of development. Jaffe fucked up in not having a traditional story mode which makes it look less content full than previous entries, opting for a cinematic approach he thought would look less cheap.

The game deserves better as besides less content than previous entries, gameplay and presentation were through the roof. The worst criticism I can really throw at the game is that it break 2006 PS3s, sometimes? My original one could play it in 2012, but a new 06 PS3 and copy and it wouldn’t work.

I would add a few more.

The Ratchet & Clank Future titles were some of the best 3D platformers of their time, which may not say much given the lack of them in the 7th gen, but even against Galaxy I feel they are more ambitious in scope. Great story and gameplay that heavily go overlooked.

Little Big Planet is a title people on here seem to scoff at thanks to the art style, but as a creator title, it was truly something special. The amount of crazy shit that people made in this game is something to behold, one of which was literally building Mario Maker into the game. It was ahead of its time in many respects being one of the pioneers of online content sharing games, at least on console as I am sure PC had some Mod heavy stuff.

Also, shout out to Mod Nation for being a creator Mario Kart-like. It may have been slain by LBP, but it has its fans.
