For someone defending current Sony exclusives, this sounds weird. The gameplay was pretty on par with what was standard for that era of gaming as I am sure we could say about current Sony moviegames.

As for Resistance and Killzone, I'll give you that their sequels didn't reach the same level but they were still successful enough to warrant 2 sequels each. If we're talking about successes then you have to take them as they come because we are talking on a general sense on how the PS3 did compared to other PS.

GOW Ascension was poorly received and did like shit, sure. But it was also released right around the time that people were sick and done with PS3 and ready for PS4. That doesn't make the fact that GOW3 did extremely well irrelevant.

What I am trying to say if that you can feel like PS3 sucked hard, but it truly did not. How can you say it sucked when it OVERTOOK THE 360 by the end of the gen. By that metric we'd have to say that the 360 sucked.
Well like I said, I had one since launch. That was also a very long generation of consoles before the new ones were on the horizon, so say it was 6-7 of ass and the last 3-4 years it finally got it's act into gear. The generation was arguably about two console lifespans so your view on the PS3 could be different depending on when you jumped in.

On God of War I think Ascension proved just how much a revamp of the series was needed. The Old style of gameplay just didn't seem to cut it, that's kind of what I meant with mentioning how GOW3 had a bit of falloff. People got tired of the gameplay, there just wasn't enough stuff there to keep people interested for the original games. You had titles like Dark Souls come out during that time and that gave people a more in-depth action RPG. God of War's action segments seemed to pale in comparison to that. It was no wonder they took some inspiration from the Souls series for the revamp.

The PS3 gen did not last for 11 years, you fucking retarded nigger. Kill yourself.

How much was Dunkey right or wrong in this video? It’s been two years and I randomly watched this video again because I remember he praised the design of the PS5 controller claiming that it looked and played like a next level controller.

didnt read half the posts ITT but I wanna reply anyway:
  • Xbox 360 ruled in the first half of its life but sucked in the second
  • PS3 sucked in the first half of its life but ruled in the second
  • Xbox 360 9/11'd itself with the Kinect, between all of the permanent UI updates that made the 360's dashboard hideous and slower than it once was, with no way to go back
  • PS3 didn't change too much, losing PS2 BC was painful but the UI stayed the same, and the game library did get pretty damn good in the latter half of the console's life
  • Cross-buy on PS3 was nice. Assorted indie games gave you Vita and/or PS4 versions as well, and specifically Portal 2 could be redeemed on Steam for free
so yeah I'd say PS3 was pretty good, it equally matched 360. That was the last generation where it actually made sense to buy both consoles, since you'd actually get a solid number of exclusives on one or another. Moot point now, of course, with so many games of that generation getting modern ports, and emulation being viable enough to run everything.

The PS3 gen did not last for 11 years, you fucking retarded nigger. Kill yourself.
I'm sure he's thinking that because Persona 5 came out in 2017, though that's moreso regarded as a PS4 game. Very arbitrary point to declare as the end of the PS3. If I had to guess, I'd say the PS3 fell out of cultural relevance around 2015ish. It's hard to say how long a console really "lasts", considering they never really have hard-and-fast ending dates, with how gradually things stop. The NES/Famicom, the greatest manmade object ever created in human history, was released in 1983, but when did it officially end?
  • In 1994, when the final Japanese and American games were released? (Adventure Island 4 & Wario's Woods, respectively)
  • In 2003, when Nintendo ceased all manufacturing and support for the Famicom?
  • In 2007, when Nintendo of Japan finally quit repairing them altogether? Does that mean the Famicom had a 24-year lifespan?
The answer is that it never ended, and the NES remains strong to this day, in my heart. (and my NESes will keep on chuggin' along while every PS5 kills itself, lmao lmao lmao)

Shut your fucking cake hole nigger.

You're always wrong, you have no idea what you're talking about and no one wants to hear from you.

Btw, Trails from Zero had the superior version on the Switch, and the next one likely will be as well.

And the PS3 era was far superior to now because Sony still had a Japanese studio still making games.

You are wrong. You are always wrong. No one likes you. No one wants you here. Kill yourself.

I am more likely to become the next U.S. president (impossible because I'm not American) than PS5 is to reach 50 million this generation.
Just a friendly advice, but you're getting a bit too worked up towards a guy who can't be bothered to read & understand one bit of my post (which was pretty much expected anyway), let alone facing the reality of things. I think anyone else here have already realized his post is just a mere projection of his own flaws and frustration directed towards me.

The PS5 could reach 50 million units WW in its entire lifespan, which is not an impossible feat I believe, but it would absolutely mean nothing if the handling of Japan remains more or less the same as it is now.

Again, it's about the fact Playstation has no longer any exclusivity across numerous japanese publishers (NIS, Falcom, Omega Force, Mages, Kogado, Arc System Works, P-Studio, Artdink, Clap Hanz, Gust, D3 Publisher, Hamster, Vanillaware, Acquire, Playism, Spike Chunsoft, Entergram and dozen of other studios & publishers) that made the brand relevant for the domestic japanese market (and global one), but without offering much in return. Whole genres such as visual novels or shmups used to be defacto PlayStation exclusive less than a decade ago and today they all basically lead on Switch. Nintendo has been seeing a level of regional domination not experienced since their Famicom days and it has happened just as swiftly as their rise back then.

Japan is still a crucial market and SIE can't continue to pretend to be entirely unaffected, after burning up that many bridges, without (more) consequences popping up eventually. Both in the short-term & long-term.

I like him :) His posts are like a Torrent of Piss all over any thread touched by his autism and you all lap it up.
PS5 won't sell unless there's a game worth buying it for...that's not going to happen

I think it's pretty insane how the Xbox 360 had it's golden era from 2005 to 2007 as the console seemed to be getting non-stop quality exclusive games back then. I mean in the span of only two years the 360 had Gears of War, Dead Rising, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Planet (not a huge hit I know but I still liked it) and Halo 3. Meanwhile the PS3 was starving for good games back then, considering the only decent stuff that came out on the system during that time was Motorstorm, Resistance and... Uncharted. The quality releases on the PS3 were very few and far between just like the PS5.

However the 360 immediately turned to shit by 2010 as that was when Microsoft released Kinect and kept shitting out more Halo, Gears and Forza sequels over and over again, whereas Sony was releasing quality games one after the other like Killzone 2 and 3, Resistance 2 and 3, Infamous 2, Heavy Rain (a flawed game but I still liked it) Yakuza 3 and 4, 3D Dot Game Heroes, God of War 3, and of course The Last of Us.

Even tho Sony and Microsoft both tried cashing in on the whole "motion controls" gimmick when it was way too late and the Wii fad had worn off, at least Sony had the common sense to abandon Playstation Move when that failed to sell instead of forcing people to buy it with the PS4 like Microsoft did with the Kinect/Xbox One, and Microsoft even gave their pathetic excuse that the "kinect was a vital part of the Xbox One", and yet they dropped the kinect from the Xbone less than a year after it came out

Sony isn't burning bridges though

Kadokawa is a large producer of anime and games. And with Fromsoft now going to be publishing their multiple titles, it's going to set them up to eventually big a large player in the global market. Sony is also currently operating 3 japnese development studios. And many prior Studio Japan people are on projects like Wo-Long which is coming to PS5 as well as Slitterhead.

Sony in general is expanding into China and Korea, even having a korean studio develop the upcoming Horizon multiplayer game

You're also wrong with NIS being exclusive because the DS got NIS games as well as games from Gust. They published stuff on Nintendo way back on the DS. Spike Chunsoft also has a long history for developing for both Sony and Nintendo. They also helped with making the Mystery Dungeon games. Art Dink is another one that also developed for both Sony and Nintendo that stretched ways back as well so you're not right on that either. These are not a bunch of first time happenings with these companies working with Nintendo, these things have been going on for ages well before the current console generation.

Sony's whole plan for the japanese market is to have them play their own first party mobile/PC freemium games on their phones. That's why they've also been investing in many mobile developers. They're not developing another vita because the vita took resources away from PS4 games and didn't do so hot globally. A portable PS5 would be out of reach for most consumers, it would be a higher price than the most expensive steam deck.

They are with their consumers. Activision, Japanese market, PC gamers, melting thermal paste, multiple PS+ tiers, no backwards compatibility. They are making boneheaded business decisions that are isolating the average consumer.

The Activision deal is a long drawn out process and it may not even reach it's conclusion this year. Anything from that deal no matter how it goes would not effect the ps5 and it would likely be the PS6. It's way too far in the future to tell what good or bad may come from it.

The Multiple PS+ tiers wasn't something that alienated consumers though, the base price was kept the same and the added tiers increased their profitability. It had the opposite effect of where they got their customers to pay more which stopped the falling numbers from covid restrictions ending.

The PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 outside of a small handful of games. the PSVR is not, but they've provided upgrade paths for existing owners for their games if they want a PSVR 2 and they provided a free adaptor if you want to use your original headset on the PS5.

The Thermal paste is too new to see any real fallout, the systems it's affected would still be possibly under warranty. Not only that people don't know which PS5 models have it yet or how wide spread it is, Sony heavily revised the PS5 already multiple times and they're also going to release the slim this year.

Any sources on that slim claim?

On what the PS+ tiers being a net positive?

That said, PlayStation Plus made more money for Sony than ever. The revamped subscription service was good for 117 billion yen (about $793 million USD). This was up from Q1 2022 at 106.5 billion yen and up year-over-year against Q2 2021, which posted 100.4 billion yen. This could be seen as a mixed bag for Sony. The company claims customers returning to regular activity is part of the drop in subscribers, but clearly the change to PS Plus has gone on to offset the loss in subscribers substantially.

oh you meant the slim redesign

The slim had stories circulate last month on it that a 2023 release is very likely.

It's not a pro upgrade or anything despite slated to be coming out a little over 2 years in(which is when the PS4 pro released for the PS4). Sony has shrunk the guts for the PS5 already a few times., it's just simply cosmetic. This is the model with the detachable disc drive so both the digital and disc editions will look the same and you can buy the addon for your digital ps5 if you want in the future.

No way Sony is expanding into China. China is expanding into Sony. It's part of Pooh's grand plan. Anime was first, now it's the games.
