Now as to Square's Taito division, as far as I can tell they don't do shit anymore and that makes me sad. Do they actually own and operate arcades in Japan? Hudson suffered the same fate, with Konami purchasing and then almost immediately closing them.
They announced in 2018 that Taito was getting back into console games and have supposedly reinvested in game development, but nothing's really came of that, and with these fire sale rumors, Taito's future is probably up in the air.
Taito is producing/publishing console vidya as a matter of fact, and here's the recent releases:
-Darius Cozmic Collection: Arcade (Nintendo Switch in 02/28/2019, PS4 in 03/05/2020)
-Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors (Nintendo Switch/PS4 - 07/25/2019)
-Darius Cozmic Collection: Console (Nintendo Switch - 09/05/2019, PS4 in 03/05/2020)
-Groove Coast: Wai Wai Party!!!! (Nintendo Switch - 11/07/2019)
-Touhou Spell Bubble (Nintendo Switch - 02/06/2020)
-Bubble Bobble 4 Friends (Nintendo Switch - 02/27/2020)
-Densha de Go!! Hashirou Yamanote (Playstation 4 in 12/03/2020 - Nintendo Switch in 03/18/2021)
-G-Darius HD (Nintendo Switch/PS4 - 02/25/2021)
-Darius Cozmic Revelation (Nintendo Switch/PS4 - 02/25/2021)
-Taito Milestones (Nintendo Switch - 02/24/2022)
-Ray'z Arcade Chronology (Nintendo Switch/PS4 - 03/09/2023)
To add a note, the Nintendo Switch release of Densha de Go! Hashirou Yamanote is the sole version of the game that has
the handle controller with full support, the PS4 version literally got nothing. The Switch version was the highest-selling in Japan in spite of being a trimester late too.
