I just find it shocking that there's an article being written about people going outside in the summer.

Outside of the last few years, that's been the norm for decades. Sales decrease in summer (even during the 16 bit era) that's why industry shows were originally made for the summer months to keep people engaged during the offseason. Square Enix(back when they were Squaresoft) would even run summer promotions to try and keep people buying games, but it never really panned out well. Like Chrono Cross was a summer release for north America, and people wound up hating it so then you realize why it got pushed to summer.

What gets me is the COD articles, because there's now multiple articles that contradict each other. The one that reads that Sony is nervous about the COD deal when it was announced so far long ago and meanwhile nothing in the deal has changed. What has been noticed is that they're spending billions on yet unnamed acquisitions. So all the shit about the Microsoft deal is being re-dug up now so it's fresh in the people's minds probably for when Sony announce their big acquisition.

Meanwhile it's very true that Activision has bungled Vanguard worse than 343 did Halo. It's alienated people in much the same way World of Warcraft did by making stupid gameplay changes. Having a FPS being single player only has become a selling point because people have gotten tired of dealing with the online bullshit.

Like right now they're very much in a transitory state with all these acquisitions, they have spent a lot on all sides. Even Nintendo is now seeking to purchase movie studios for future use. Hell if even an iota of the Capcom rumors are true since Sony has Evo and has established a real grip on the fighting genre, having both Capcom and Square would be a real boon to their IP Portfolio growth.

The Chinese are dumping birrions into e-sports and it's already been proven that they will watch anything even remotely related to people sitting in front of a game raging.

There are multiple long ass reports that you can sift through on the entire e-sports market in China. But what they never mention is that the CCP uses it for money laundering in much the same way the CIA uses Art Auctions. So in theory e-sports is an evergreen industry. Them buying up e-sports related shit makes sense because the main draw for those events is corporate advertising. Buying up companies that do e-sports games is like saying you bought an ad agency to run a marketing campaign.

That's not Adderall

That's a lot of words to say that Sony is not buying From Software as that rumor monger wanted people to believe....oh wait its SquareEnix now isn't it?

At this point who knows.

By the time these acquisitions are all done more than likely Jim Ryan will be switched out for someone else since their next stage is supposedly going to be more cross brand awareness, brand unification, and media stuff and many of the Playstation CEOs averaged around a 6-7 year time span. Jim Ryan is entirely in his position because he's not rocking the boat and therefore isn't fucking up what Sony Group wants. But supposedly they've spent around an estimated 35% of their profits on acquiring new businesses, they still seem very gung-ho about it in the parent company so something is clearly working. Especially if you were to contrast it with the PS3 and them receding everything and because overly cautious. They've canceled some things like the new Sly Cooper but that's mostly because Ghosts of Tsushima has a larger base at this point and is a newer series.

While acquiring those companies would be big for their IP farm, Sony has a decent IP farm that they refuse to do anything with. People made fun of Halo Forza Gears cycle but we are in a Horizon Druckmann GOW cycle with Sony.

Give me a rainbow if you want, but I really don’t understand why people threw such a fit over the early Xbox One. The ideas of mandatory Kinect and always online with no used games were extremely retarded, sure, but they were also scrapped before the system’s actual launch. The entire argument against it was “okay we thought microsoft would go full retard and they didn’t but imagine if they did!”.
Homestly, it feels like people valued brand loyalty in 2013/2014 more than ever. I remember how terrible the South Park and Big Bang Theory console war episodes were because they autistically whined about every minute detail of each console but didn’t mention the actual games even once. Then again, if exclusives mattered, those episodes would’ve ended after five minutes because they would’ve just bought Wii U’s. The closest they got to talking about actual exclusive video game-related things was Kyle saying he preferred the Xbox’s controller or something, and PS4’s coming with a reservation for a preorder for a multiplat.
Here's the thing, first impressions are important. For many, they heard what MS's requirements were, balked, then went and ordered a PS4 and called it a day. If they did find out MS backtracked, it was after the purchase, and once the sony steamroller started, well, why buy into a platform that was being outsold 20:1?

There was also the lingering "what if?". What if MS backtracks on the backtrack and reimplements these systems? They'd already backtracked on both windows phone's support on multiple platforms but ALSO on the rumored enforcement of requiring new windows software to be via METRO apps instead of X86 (remember that fiasco?). There was 0 guarantee that MS wouldnt just enforce the internet connection later.
Man I hope that thing lasts you a fat minute, it would hurt like a bitch to lose a storage device that costs four figures
I have backups, being able to access my VMs, media library, and entire gaming catalog going back to the early 2000s all at once alongside multiple OSes is worth it.

Reality check, bud. PS5 isn't vibing with people. It's okay. It's just a video game console.

Speaking of acquistions, Sony is concerned of MS's acquistion of Activision because "more people will buy Xboxes."

More intriguingly, Sony suggests that Call of Duty "is so popular that it influences users' choice of console, and its network of loyal users is so ingrained that even if a competitor had the budget to develop a similar product, it wouldn't be able to rival it".

First outside, now CoD? Damn, Sony! Step yo' grind up.

Spider-Man Remastered went up for pre-order on Steam and they're asking $60 for it. It's a rip-off compared to the console version - for PS5 the bundle of both Spider-Man games is $70, often on sale for $50. They won't let you buy Remastered without Miles Morales because they know which one people actually want, but if you do buy Miles Morales by itself, Remastered is $20 as an add-on for it.
Now they want $60 for Remastered for PC, by itself. If dipshits are pre-ordering at that price, no reason to change it I guess.

Hell, buy a Nintendo Switch. That's a better value than a PS5 at this point.
It is the sole current-gen console with a gargantuan amount of games, within a convenient form factor, and it can be easily found in retail stores/supermarkets.
Also the platform of choice, besides PC, for anyone mainly into japanese titles with the occasional good westernshit.

God, you're full of shit. Shut up. No one wants to hear your retarded and incorrect opinions.

What is bigger than CoD in this gaming landscape? What would be bigger than ACTIVISION at this point?

If CoD didn't matter to Sony, why did they sign an exclusivity deal with them to get DLC 30 days early? Yes, I know MS did the same thing during the 360 days. The point being is that CoD is apparently big enough for MS & Sony to gain ANY pull with that franchise by any means necessary.

Also, Sony is making it sound like they won't get CoD anymore on PlayStation. If Minecraft and Banjo to an extent is any consideration, that is incorrect.

Fortnite.

Anyways, anyone hoping for the acquisition of any of the huge legacy JP studios is barking up the wrong tree. None of the console makers care about buying legacy IP, they have more of that than they know what to do with already, it's all about buying studios who can do GaS, mobile, remasters or ports and hopefully nothing else (like an arcade division) that MS/Sony/Nintendo wants nothing to do with but would have to pay for anyway.

Sony buying Epic Games seems extremely unlikely. Fortnite is already making bank by itself. Remember that Sony gave Epic a hard time with crossplay.
