I still personally find GoW forgettable. It's one of those franchises that exists... and that's it.
The drawn out finishing moves got stale after seeing them a million times, similar to summons in FF7, should be a away to finish them up quicker. Gruff angry dude killing things was enough characterization for me so was it really necessary to suddenly include a son? I don't care. "He is older and more grizzled now because we gave him a beard" is also a pretty lazy thing to do. But enough about God of War.

Say what you will about Dreams, it does allow talented AF programmers to show off their skills. If SEGA made a Skies of Arcadia remake in this style, or, more realistically, contacted these people and asked them to do it, I'd happily consoom it, nostalgia-baiting it may be.

ehhh pass, not a fan of the blimp style. Yea Skies was just ships in the air but IDK the whole combat blimp thing just seems too flimsy.

Oh no, yeah, I agree on the blimps. I mean keep the ships, just render the world in this style.

You simp for Skies of Arcadia like I simp for vintage female protagonists in video games.

That's how I keep track of you guys, the gerontophile and Skies of Arcadia dude.

Has anybody seen that Sony Backbone One thing? Seems like a pretty good way to play mobile games, tbh.

They're copying MS's strategy with Game Pass into PlayStation Now. I don't mean to say copy like it's a bad thing. Phones into controllers is a novel concept, especially if you're streaming them. I don't see how a similar Bluetooth controller wouldn't work.

Oh, it's another one of those. I've never used a controller made for smartphones that was ever worth its salt. Ever. I'm convinced at this point that mobile gaming is just cursed.

Honestly, you'd be better off using a Bluetooth controller and getting a phone stand. Alternatively, get a bigger phone. This COULD work if it allowed your console to read it as another controller.

lolno

All of those phone controllers suffer from BAD input lag. Like, you have to plan your button presses in advance in order to do well or else you'll get fucked. The digital on-screen controls are more responsive than these things.

I still own myself an Xbox wireless controller and I can't even bother with this kind of shit.

So here's another reason to hate Sony: remember when they used to sell demo discs?
PlayStation 2 Jampack Winter 2001.png

These were just sold on the shelf alongside all of the other games, standing out as it's only $8, as opposed to everything else being like $40-50. Also, look at that wording: "Demos & Videos", with no indication on what's just a video. So you could buy it, thinking you're getting to play a demo of Final Fantasy X, only for it to be a trailer. And then retail stores also don't let you return games at all, so you paid money for a demo disc where you don't even get to play the game in question, and that's all meant to sell you the full game. This really sucks to go through when you're a kid and eight bucks is a considerable amount of money. They'd pull that "oops it's just a video lol!" shit with their magazine, too.

Contrast that shit to like, Game Pass, or even the countless sales out there where games drop below $8. And that was back in their golden days! Talk about greedy.

Strange. When I bought the PSX I sent in their registration card and got free demo discs for years in the mail.
That's where I played exciting games like Excalibur 2555.

I thought Playstation Underground was a magazine that *came* with Demo Disks.

There was a point where they just sold the demo disks?

I remember my friend had some subscription to an Xbox magazine that gave out a demo disk that literally installed two of Oblivions DLC's onto your system. I think it was the pirate cave and wizards tower. Since I didn't have high speed internet until 2008 that was the only way I was able to get them until the GOTY edition came out.

Yeah, PS Underground had a demo disc every issue back in the PS1 and 2 eras, but they also sold these Jampack discs on PS1 and 2, which were the same sort of thing. I ended up collecting a few since they'd get clearanced out for a couple of bucks, and they were, well, the exact same thing as the magazine. I guess the point was to have a quarterly version of the magazine's discs, featuring demos of the bigger titles, so they aren't just here-today-gone-tomorrow.

Still though, that kinda thing should be free, or at least like a dollar or two to cover costs. Eight bucks, lol fuck off
