Sooner or later, they'll run out. Your PS2 will reach its end of lifespan and there will be nothing to repair them. Your DVD recorder will become obsolete, and there will be no shops willing to repair them.

They don't really need to dissolve them when they are functionally obsolete and can go off at any time.

I dunno are there any shops out there that will repair dvd players and ps2s in 2026 and I had never saw one however, so take this with a grain of salt.

Your books are probably safe though, they are physical media and as long as they are well-maintained, they are around to read as long as you live. Of course unless if they start emptying cities to drag everyone to some weird-ass Indian or African backwater on a global scale, because you will NOT be able to bring any personal belongings with you if it happens. Although if it does happen you're fucked anyways so I hope people wake up, stop them and start innovating again before it's too late.
