If Wolverine was a open-world game, what's the original idea? Having 5 small maps (like Yakuza 5 done in 2012) but completely playable?
that would be perfect but alas western AAA devs hate their customers so that ain't happening... they certainly had the resources for it...

That's Insomniac for you :story:

Venom suits the niche of Prototype more than Wolverine honestly.

As for Wolverine, just make this, but with more gore & brutality.
This is the bare minimum in my book, A Revengeance or MadWorld game would still be better tho.

I bought Trails In The Sky 2nd Chapter instead of Sneederine.

Feelsgoodman.
So instead of paying for a woke butchering of a classic American IP, you paid for a stilted unnatural butchering of a classic Japanese IP. First game as an example, but still. (Original on left, demake on the right)

A lesson to be learned. If you're planning on playing a game and a remake has been made within the past 6 years or so, ALWAYS GO WITH THE ORIGINAL. Yeah, you miss out on QoL features but to that I say - git gud faggot lol

You do understand that the original PSP localization was Ghost Stories tier fanfiction full of memes and the remake script is much closer to the original Japanese text right?

I also own and 100% completed the original UMDs

Way to out yourself as a complete tourist, how embarrassing.

Meanwhile studios and publishers pour millions into development budgets and advertising only for the game to underperform at best or become an embarassing flop at worst.
While part of that is likely down to GG and the general realization that most modern game devs are shit, it's these borderline comical budgets that are fucking them more than anything.

So many of these bombs might have been survivable if they hadn't poured hundreds of millions into them. Unironically, Gaming needs something like a Blumhouse Productions - just a low budget model that's low risk, potentially high return.

For now. A tourist I may be, but don't be surprised if they do some woke revisionism down the line. Pattern recognition can be your friend.

Dawnwalker's budget was 40 million (development only, no idea about marketing. Bamco handled that) and despite there being a couple of flies in the soup, it's the first time I've been wowed by an original IP in quite awhile. Doesn't mean that it's not going to balloon to 100's of millions for the sequels though.

Edit: I forgot to make my point. So with Dawnwalker selling 1 million in it's first week it's already a success and is already gearing up for it's sequel. If the sequel doesn't take 7 years AND it's a complete upgrade, I now know with assurance that the 500 million dollar 10 year devtime method is not mandatory like they want us to believe and we'd be much better off just sticking to the classic style of vidya production

GG is winning the long war because making fun of shitty games and not buying them is free and easy.
Ignoring all the gay shit that got stapled on after the fact the core message of GamerGate was be a cunt to your customers if you want, but don't cry victim when they stop being your customers.

You told us we weren't your audience any more, and we obliged. Hope it was worth it.

The only thing that i mourn is that in the FC remake theres no cheeky chest messages. Aside that i would recommend either version but would be more inclined towards the og FC. Still i would wholeheartly recommend the remake if its your first time playing the series because i do understand that the old sprite artstyle may be jarring for some. Just know that youll probably get filtered on the first act of the game in both versions due to being bullshit at times due to you not having good equipment or quartz(funny stones with spells)

Ok so maybe the Trails remakes are some of the rare good ones (again, for now). My point still stands - for every relatively "faithful" remake that seems to leave well enough alone -

there are 5 others that have the greasy fingers of post-modernism shoved up their asshole.

I agree with your argument, remakes should keep the core of the game. Dialogue imo, should be only changed to add new information that maybe at the time wasnt clear or didnt have a name or fix errors. Nowadays i feel they are using the excuse to change "problematic dialogue" because people might get offended or some dumb shit. Case in point Wolverine by having taken out "Lady" in Lady Deathstrike, we all know why they did it, because fuck having gendered language i guess. Little changes in names or dialogue hinder and affect the game and how characters are presented.

I will never understand why so many big companies decided alienating their customer base was the way to go. We've seen it play out so many times in the last decade and it all ended in predictable failure. The fallout has gotten worse for them now since AAA isn't the only game in town anymore. Now we're seeing indie games with tiny budgets eat AAA's lunch when just 12 years ago, indie games were pretty much the domain of SJWs.

How the tables have turned.

It Rand Villainy 101. You enshrine mediocrity so you can't be called mediocre or worse because you define what is considered excellent to make your mediocrity the gold standard excellence while saying anything you don't like is "mediocre".

Because they actually bought the hype that it's only the most racist, Nazi-loving, despicable 0.01% of society that doesn't wanna play Niggaz Gone Gay V: Sweet as Sugar, and they are outweighed by the literally millions of niggerfaggots and diversity-loving folks just dying to watch two black men kiss.

These are the 90s AAA studios essentially reformed.

Okay, the real question is "how old is that female supposed to be?" Why does she look prepubescent?

They don't define shit. Well, actually, "shit" is the one thing they're definitively good at, so maybe they do literally define shit. But they don't get to calibrate my "ratings scale," which goes from "do nothing but point and laugh at these fuckers" to "this product is acceptable enough to pay for, the manufacturer is currently unoffensive enough I can stomach doing so, and the vendor actually transacting the sale hasn't annoyed me enough to walk away yet" -- admittedly a position where the needle rarely gets buried, but here we are anyway. I (and the market at large) have no problem openly declaring something "dogshit" and stubbornly refusing to buy it. All these flops wouldn't be killing studios otherwise.

No matter how "invulnerable" these assholes act, they're not. They cannot sustain this god-awful performance and stay in business indefinitely.
