Sonic Says Dont Kill Yourself.png
I like that Sonic games have PSAs now to not kill yourself, cause, well, Sega knows the Sonic audience.

For anyone who is interested in it.

A basic gestalt:
- Sonic Origins Plus ("We fucked up the original release, but pay for again, goyim!")
- The Netflix show (who cares)
- Sonic Frontiers DLC (New Game+, everything else meh)
- Chili dog stand at San Diego Comic Con (gotta get dysentry fast)
- literal bootleg clothing merch
- LEGO Sanic (with a godawful LEGO Robotnik rap)
- Japanese people speaking engrish

That was it. I'll continue playing Yakuza.

and it appears that Sonic Origins Plus' game gear games don't have Master System widescreen support.

idk why Master System isn't the default with these games to begin with. I get shit like Triple Trouble because there was no Master System version for it, but shit like Sonic 2, where you're trying to hunt for the chaos emeralds where everything is scrunched closer to Sonic is a pain in the ass

Plus, the Master System didn't really have anything memorable with the early Sonic games. The Genesis was still better with handling the hedgehog back in the day.

Sonic 1 was the worst offender.
Sonic 1's Special Stages were more about having patience and waiting for the walls to tilt at the right time to get to the emeralds. IMO the third special stage in that game is the trickiest because it's one gigantic open space with the emerald being ALL the way on the other side with exit warps surrounding it. By the time you get to the 4th and 5th one it get's easier to the point where the 6th one just goes "OK HERE, HAVE IT!!" and places you right next to it.

Man, the special stages were cutthroat, and not just the Master System games either. Sonic 1 was the worst offender.

Sonic 1's on the Genesis wasn't that bad. The first two sonic games on the MS/game gear didn't have special stages and you had to get the emeralds in the actual stage. But the reward in 2 was actually good and it was the final zone. (Sonic 1 had traditional bonus levels that reward lives/continues.) The problem is that the games didn't have a save function and looking for them were a pain in the ass and even more with the screen crunch in the GG.

Sonic fans: "Oh boy, I sure hope the Retro Engine remakes of Sonic 1 + CD + 2 and a new Retro remake of 3&K come to consoles!"

Is anybody else slightly disappointed Superstars isn't Mania 2? I'm still pretty glad we're getting a cool looking 2D Sonic but I was just thinking about that.

Kinda? I'm not going to buy it until I see the reviews. Co-op is going to be fucking chaotic compared to Mario tho, they should have kept it split screen.

Continuing that train of thought, he went on to infer that Sega takes the idea of "reboots and remakes" into account when setting the course for its intellectual properties—although again, he singled out Sonic as the prime example. "Of course, we have to do new things, but as with all IPs, we don't have new works or reboots," he explained. "We will develop while selecting which is appropriate at this timing for each IP, such as 'This is the best way to do this IP'. 'Sonic' is also SEGA's signature IP, and in parallel with the new game, we are considering reboots and remakes."

But didn't they reboot Sonic in 2014 as well with the failed Sonic Boom?
Yes, in fact Steven Frost, former producer of SOA was saying how Sonic SHOULD have his speed reduced and the games should be multiplayer focused because (at the time) that's where the industry was heading.

Ironic that two reboots of the series wound up being the worst sonic games in existence to the fans. Maybe Sega should READ THE FUCKING ROOM and maybe not do that shit anymore.
