Yes, in fact Steven Frost, former producer of SOA was saying how Sonic SHOULD have his speed reduced and the games should be multiplayer focused because (at the time) that's where the industry was heading.

Ironic that two reboots of the series wound up being the worst sonic games in existence to the fans. Maybe Sega should READ THE FUCKING ROOM and maybe not do that shit anymore.
Doubtful. Sega is still milking the Sonic brand name dry until the end of time, like how Paramount milks SpongeBob or Fox milks the Simpsons. Like how SpongeBob made Paramount and Simpsons made Fox, Sonic made Sega, and all three are being milked for the worst.

I'm not opposed to a reboot if it is more like Sonic '06 (but not busted obviously, and preferably no bestiality) than Sonic Boom. But remakes is where they should focus, spruce up Sonic Adventure and do a Resident Evil 1 style type of faithful remake.

spruce up Sonic Adventure
I'm no Adventure mark, but even I know everytime Sega touches that game it gets worse and worse. The GameCube "Director's Cut" was a worse version of the Dreamcast, and the PC ports were worse versions of the GameCube. Not just from a visual and audio aspect, but bugs that weren't in the original have been added to the newer versions due to none of the ports being able to handle what the Dreamcast could (e.g. the increased framerate makes enemies, objects, and even the camera not work as intended)

But those are just lazy ports, an actual remake would technically be a whole new game built from the ground up. Frontiers was a functional game so we can at least be sure it wouldn't be a technical mess, the only fear would really be the director making stupid changes. The more faithful they are the better.

Which since this is SEGA we're talking about, that's a 99.9% guarantee

Keep in mind that Unleashed was supposed to be Adventure 3 until they added the werehog gimmic.

Also, part of what people loved about Adventure was it's story, especially 2, which was, at the time, darker than any sonic game to date. Remember, Forces' original script was supposed to be darker than what we got, but SEGA wound up getting cold feet and changed it last minute.

They basically did the same thing that Sony did to Venom and Morbius. Wouldn't be the first time they pulled something like that either, since Shadow the Hedgehog was designed to be a T-rated game, but then the ESRB brought out the E10+ rating and SEGA made them edit some stuff out so it could qualify for it.

And this wasn't the only drastic change of the game. Other drastic changes was also due to real-life events like the 7/7 London bombing among other things.

But didn't they reboot Sonic in 2014 as well with the failed Sonic Boom?
honestly, Boom was even worse then 06. atleast 06 tried doing new stuff and had the excuse of being early next gen. Boom, i have no idea how they took a look at THAT and said "yeah, this is a good game worth 60 buxs for a kids charismas present".

The only good thing to ever come out of Boom was, well obviously, the cartoon the game was trying to base on.
And Season 2 of it was especially based

it helps that its on a dead console. another thing that blows my mind is that its made only for the wii-u of all things...
They were made for each other.
Funny story about that - Sonic Boom was originally planned to come out on all next gen systems, but SEGA, being SEGA, entered an exclusivity deal with Nintendo during the game's development:

To add insult to injury, the engine they were working on, CryEngine 3, didn't work well with the Wii U.

It also became a pain once it was originally set to be a different Sonic game. Then unsurprisingly and as per usual, Sega saw greed which explains this.

I enjoyed Sonic Frontiers. The game has a chill environment that reminds me of Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild. Yeah it’s not perfect, but I think it’s a step in the right direction for Sonic

To be safe they should put over a month between them. Knowing Sega they'll release on the same day.
Sure, but again, it's possible that they'll release it in a few weeks. Remember six years ago when Mario Odyssey came out and a few weeks later, Sega farted out Sonic Forces (the same studio that was already fresh off the success that was Mania).
