View attachment 761470

Story: dr eggman makes a disguise and make another EX gear tournament with money as the reward and sonic and his friends enter it. it turns out to be a plot made by him for metal sonic to copy all the racer's data.

characters:
Sonic
Tails
Knuckles
Amy
Cream
Vector
Shadow
Rouge
E-10000B
Jet
Wave
Storm
Silver
Blaze
Dr. Eggman
Metal Sonic
Xbox Avatar
Super Sonic

the game was met with mixed but mostly negative reviews, it was considered to be one of the worst and most broken kinect titles. why was it bad?

the kinect is the only mandatory controller. nothing else works.
the controls can get really unresponsive, making the game unplayable
because of the broken motion controls, its even hard to navigate through the menu. even the tutorial.
grabbing rings and flying through air can cause frame rate drops.
playing in multiplayer is really awkward, because both players have to hold hands and the controls are even more worse and unresponsive.
characters wont shut up when riding their ex gears, they keep saying their quote when getting ready to boost.

the good points.
its one of the first sonic games alongside sonic colors to introduce the new voice cast like kate higgins for tails, travis willingham for knuckles, etc.
bike gears are more functionable
good graphics
the hang on gear is back and plays the hang on theme when used.
Metal City from the first sonic riders is a stage.
the soundtrack is awesome. especially its main theme Free

yea. game is shit. its a prime example why motion controls were losing popularity and why the kinect was one of the worst accessories for the xbox 360.
I played this once a long time ago and I ended up quitting a minute into the first race. At least with sonic 06 you can play it like a normal person

I've probably said this before in this thread, but I really want to like Generations but I can't stand its controls. I've bitched enough about the extremely stiff 3D controls that actively fight you if you go anywhere other than forward, so I'll bitch about something else, namely the 2D platforming. The first half of the game is alright, but the second half is when I lose patience, specifically starting with Crisis City. For some reason, Sonic's jump never works properly for me; I've lost count how many times his upward momentum abruptly stopped and sent me plummeting towards the lava. Sonic's jump feels so inconsistent, it's like a 50-50 shot for it to actually make most of the platforming jumps. And even when it works, Sonic feels like he weighs a ton which makes the platforming feel incredibly sluggish.

I feel like I'm going crazy when I play the 2D sections. Has this happened to anyone? Because it cripples the game for me and it's so bizarre nobody talks about it.

See I'm gonna disagree with you there, largely for the reason I stated above. Yes, the Adventure games are janky but their platforming feels a lot more consistent. At least when I jump in the Adventure games, I don't have to worry about the jump suddenly stopping its upward momentum and unfairly killing me.

In other words, at least the platforming works.
No no, you're right about the 2d sections being more stiff with the movements and jumping, especially when you compare it to Mania. I died a couple of times because you have to jump with purpose in that game, but I learned to acclimate to it. But I still love Generations.

Gen and Colors do have questionable controls, but also have great level design with plenty of branching paths, whereas I hear level design in Forces is kinda shitty with levels that are basically just straight lines.

Also, let me clarify about my earlier SA comment: I like the speed stages in SA and SA2(albeit not as much as say Crash 2 or Mario 64), but the other stage types are very hit or miss, especially in SA2 (SA2 managed to make mech and treasure stages way more tedious than they were in SA1 and I hated how Tails was just an Eggman carbon copy instead of having his powers from SA1)

I kinda feel the opposite; I thought SA2 trimmed a lot of the unnecessary fat from SA1. In SA1, you still had to deal with Amy's slow-as-molasses platforming and Big's fishing, both of which were way worse for me than the shooting or treasure hunting in SA2. I actually enjoyed the mech stages, with the exception of Mission Street and Eternal Engine (granted, Eggman's levels in general felt more competently designed than Tails'), and the enhancements made to the treasure hunters' mobility made playing them at least more tolerable.

That said no one likes the space treasure hunt stages, and I will admit the radar and hint system were downgraded.

My issue with SA2’s mech and treasure stages is that they felt bloated, I thought the SA1 Knux and E-102 stages were snappier and more to the point

From what I remember the emerald pieces in SA1 were freely scattered so that you could get them in whatever order.

In SA2 you had to get them in order. Stupid.

(Also fun fact Knuckles VA is a fag with a beautiful singing voice....also the singers for the games weren't paid according to Knuckles rapper)

one good thing i know for the treasure hunt levels in SA2 is how easy the hard mode stages can be once you get to know them. the emerald pieces don't change places and stay in one place. so if you remember where they are put and get them fast enough, you're guaranteed to get A rank alot easier.
but its recommended to get all the upgrades in the game for knuckles and rouge because some pieces will require them like knuckles' sunglasses and rouge's treasure scope.

Rouge’s stages were the worst

As obnoxious as treasure hunting could be in SA2, over the years I grew to hate the Eggman/Tails stages more and with their shit level design, clunky controls, and shooting mechanics that sometimes felt worse than E-102’s.

What made the E-102 stages work was that they were short and were light on platforming, but the Eggman/Tails stages were much longer and were way heavier on platforming, causing me to realize just how unwieldy and awkward their jumping and hovering controls really werez

As for the shooting. I think my gripe mainly comes from the fact that unlike E-102, Eggman/Tails could also hipfire and the hipfire controls were ass

Not to mention you couldn't really grasp the full extent of the shooting shit unless you got the upgrades

You mean you didn’t like 1/3 of the early shooting stages being blocked off by metal boxes?

I legit think Sonic R is a fun game that only suffers from a lack of stages. It has a great roster of characters, decent graphics and a fantastic yet cheesy soundtrack. People crap on the game all the time but they only really play as sonic and complain that the controls are crap, (Sonic is fast but has bad turning, ) and Jontron did not understand the Chaos Emerald system at all. I think it needs more love. I would also put Spinball in that same category. Shadow the Hedgehog has a lot of issues but I feel that it is a Sonic Adventure title without the filler levels (Knuckles, Tails and such) It's all speed levels but they added objectives that sometimes have you scavenging for items or shooting all the enemies, I think out of the Dreamcast/Gamecube era games it and Sonic Heroes aged better and doesn't feel as bloated as Sonic Adventure. and while I love Sonic Adventure 2 I think it aged poorly in some regards and the best part about it is sonic/shadow levels and the Chao garden.

Hey guys. I’ve been hearing rumors that Sonic Adventure is possibly going to get an HD remake.

I kinda think it’s possible. Seeing that other popular games are getting remakes recently, hell even spongebob battle for bikini bottom is getting a remake.

Call me unpopular, but I feel that it's an cash-grab. Mainly because of controversial Sonic Forces is.

I’d say it depends on how the remake plays out. Will it be a frame-by-frame remake like Crash and Spyro or will it be transformative like Metroid Zero Mission or RE2?

well if they're going to remake sonic adventure. they should address and fix the issues that both the original dreamcast version and DX version had.

fix the camera
fix the lip syncing
fix the bugs and glitches that people get annoyed from.
give amy, gamma, and big some buffs so that their stages and mechanics can be more easy to handle.

they could also add some of the scrapped beta mechanics from the original version
a super sonic power up for sonic like the classic genesis games that can be unlocked after defeating perfect chaos and finishing the last story. super forms for tails and knuckles are optional but nice.
an uppercut attack that knuckles could do in an early demo.

they should also give all characters more access to other stages that they couldn't go into , like giving sonic access to hot shelter and tails, knuckles and amy to emerald coast. this was done by a glitch in both versions.
