Come back when you beat Gaiden, you fake fan.
Gaiden was actually the last game I finished because I was dreading it so much. Checkmate.
Did you play Resident Evil: Confidential Report? I did.
Nope, just the games on the Wikipedia. I don’t know how to play the mobile games.

All of these.

It's actually ironic how the boss fights that people mention in the thread were the most difficult were Nosferatu and Steve the Green Giant, considering those are the easiest ones if you are confident in your skills and check the hints before the fights.
If you use the knife against Nosferatu the fight is a joke and with Steve my first instinct was to get the fuck out of the room because of how big it was.
Nosferatu is a bitch with his poison clouds spawning right on top of you and Steve's boss fight isn't about skill at all. Steve's fight is largely considered bullshit due to RNG playing a role in whether or not he's able to murder you before you get a chance to really do anything.

Your first instinct was to run? You mean like everybody else? And you checked for hints? Friend, it's not that these fights were difficult, it's that they were bullshit.

It is literally just the RE Engine. DMC V has uncanny faces too.
Am I the only one that just doesn't see them as uncanny valley?

How much did you regret Resistance and Re:Verse?
Not as big of a pain as Umbrella Corps at least.

And considering they’re both multiplayer only games means the way to “beat” them is by just winning a match. Doesn’t take too long. I have more playtime on the sign-up for re:verse than the actual game.

Was it as big a trash fire as it looked? What were the top three things you hated about it? For that matter, what are your top three favorite and least favorite RE games?

Yup. It’s that bad.
3. The bloodshots.
2. The guns are useless. The brainer is the only viable weapon. It lets you move fast and dodge a lot of hits.
1. You die in two or three hits. That’s why the brainer is the only weapon you want to use.

Favorite games?
3. Resident Evil 2 Remake
2. Resident Evil 4
1. Resident Evil 1 Remake

Least favorite: and I’m gonna not include the spin-offs because there’s a lot of bad ones.
3. RE1 Original. It’s not “awful”, and it’s certainly fine for the time, but it did age poorly and is far worse than it’s remake.
2. Resident Evil 6
1. Resident Evil 0

-I didn't mean "checked for hints" as in looked up a guide, I meant as in actually paying attention to what the game is trying to tell you in the first place. It's common sense to see that fighting Steve in that narrow ass room is a bad idea.

- Bro, you're supposed to stay away from Nosferatu when he makes those purple clouds and with the green giant it's not even rng whether or not he kills you, you just turn around and run. That's it.

- If you really want to talk about bullshit in the game then you should have brought up this retarded ass "death trap".

Anyway, I can see where people are coming from when they say that this game is underwhelming and mediocre. But there's some that have really stupid reasons for disliking it.

People these days can't fathom that people used to play games without handholding and wikis, I think that's where the accusations comes from. It boggles my mind how many posts I see here saying that no one beat fucking Zelda 1 without a guide. That's not a hard game, figuring out the desert path and wtf the flute did was the two big things I remember.

Zelda 1 wants you to be 8 and only have Zelda to play all summer, whereas now people will just look up what to do or play something else because what it asks of you isn't fun but repetitive and mindless. I think Resident Evil has better pacing (0-4 at least).

And people now think it's a two hour game because they got guides, same with the guy that assume people are using guides if they can beat a boss in RE without min-maxing,

As I said, those purple ass clouds will spawn on top of you as you're trying to snipe the fuck.

I don't think you remember the Steve fight, fren. You can turn and run, but he's faster than you and has reach. And if he decides to start things off with an axe swipe then he's going to get you before you can do anything. God help you if you go into that room with less than full health.

I have before, akshullay. But you know what, yeah. 100% fucking agree, this "puzzle" was complete, unadulterated bullshit.

with the steve fight you can run op to him before he even begins swinging and get behind his chair, after that circle around him and you're in the clear.

I can't tell if it's because I had more patience for bullshit as a kid, or was more accepting of what today would be "bad design." But one of my cows is DSP; and he decided to start a REmake run with Jill during Christmas, and today decided to continue that run. Horrible ammo and health management and other shit; part of me was rolling my eyes (because I knew what to do) but at the same time, that was part of the game. The older games were puzzle games as much as they were zombie killing games, throw in inventory management and the game isn't tense because of zombies, it's tense because you got to juggle ammo, weapons, healing, and plot items, all while trying not to die. And before GameFAQS and the internet, I'd wager most kids and adults would restart the games several times to feel everything out because they'd make bad decisions, save, then lock themselves into impossible situations; and having limited ink ribbons added to the tension with decision making. That's just how shit was, we learned the hard way. I'm not saying it's better, but I notice a difference between people who went through that shit when it was relevant, as opposed to people now who jump to YouTube at the first sign of difficulty.

Here's my perspective and memory from playing it in '96: I never started a new game after figuring out the basics, not that I can remember at least, instead I ate whatever mistakes I had made and kept on trucking until I beat it. The game is completely beatable even if bumbling around and wasting ammo even when playing it for the first time with no prior knowledge of how the game works or help of any kind.

The ink ribbons were stressful in the beginning but you get so many of them after a while. The grenade launcher went almost completely unused because the ammo was so rare that I instinctively horded it for a rainy day and at some point a couple of regular enemies would be flame rounded because there was nothing else left. I'm pretty sure no boss ever got shot with it. Regular enemies had killed and hurt me way more than any of the bosses ever did.

Health items could run out for brief period of time with only red herbs stashed away because the green herb was consumed before getting to a storage box.

Head shots was something I figured out and used extensively on normal zombies, a single shotgun blast to the dome was a very safe way to get rid of them. This is where my memory gets murky but I know 100% that I shot downed enemies but I can't be sure that I ever routinely knifed them when down to save ammo. The knife took up inventory space and only came out of the storage box in desperate situations. Don't remember if shooting them in the legs did something.
I actually knifed the Tyrant to death(you know what I mean) because I did not have enough ammo for the fight and I'm pretty sure he went down on my second or third attempt.
My disappointment was immense and my day was ruined when finding out that the closet did not contain a Mega Man costume.

At no point was the game hard or unfair but it could be stressful when trying to progress and get to the point where there were more ammo and health items. It was something that could always be done though no matter how fucked your current save is.

I'm a bit of a retired Achievement/Trophy hunter. Last night I watched a video from a guy challenging himself to get all of the REVerse achievements in one sitting (there's not many). He managed to do it, and the video was only 2 months old and I decided "Yeah, I can do that."

Fired it up and, don't burn me at the stake for this. It's not bad conceptually... It's just very barebones, imbalanced, and would need a lot of effort put into it. But even then, I wouldn't buy it; it's a fun little distraction you play for a bit until you get familiar with it and realize what a waste of potential something like this is, when it should be a mini-game / alternate mode that comes with an actual game.

That's my review of REVerse; not bad if you see it as a 15 minute distraction. A pile of shit if you think it's anything more.

I feel like that's pretty much a good review of every bad RE game. 'Not bad conceptually, just needed more effort.'
