The mature viewer will see that the Cardassians were right and Gul Dukat did nothing wrong
Rather than align with the Federation and get a redemption arc working with them, Dukat sided with the Dominion, killed Jadzia Dax, and basically ended up possessed by literal demons in the end and given a Disney death. He did a LOT of things wrong....

That's because the writers didn't like that fans were shipping Dukat and Kira online so they made him Bajoran Super Hitler.

His heart was in the right place...

Anyway, fuck Jadzia. Terry Farrell is a shit actor and Ezri ended up being far more interesting, though they had to rush her character development since there was only one season left.

DS9 and Babylon 5 had a heated fandom rivalry on par with Hal Jordon vs Kyle Rayner, Mike vs Joel, Kimberly vs Amanda, and Rap vs Alternative Rock.
My favorite bit to this rivalry is that an actor actually got poached by star trek from B5 and they had to kill him off and replace him with his second in command. Robert Foxwell

The entirely plotline for both star trek and B5 episodes he was in revolved around rebellion and mutiny against federation governments. Only in B5 he was supposed to be heroic and in star trek he was the villain.

Its even referenced in the bloopers

The writers actually tried to pair them up and Nana Visitor said no. She viewed him as space Hitler and wanted nothing to do with that idea. They had him banging her mom later as payback.

Speaking of which, the Star Trek fan wiki and much of Reddit hate Deep Space Nine for pretty much confirming that gods and literal demons exist canonically in Star Trek, as if both of them never existed before during Star Trek: The Original Series. Star Trek being anti-religion is mostly a TNG revisionism, along with the idea that Star Trek is anti-capitalism and anti-military. Magic being real in Star Trek not even new. If anything Star Trek has more science fantasy elements than Star Wars.

As someone who has never watched Deep Space 9, this made me fucking laugh
Err alright then.png

But nothing wrong in relation to the Cardassian stewardship of B*jor.

If you don't get all emotional about it, Gul Madred really didn't do anything different to Picard than Q did. He was just trying to get Picard to expand his idea of the possible

"Do not build monuments to the living, for they may yet disgrace the stone."

Do not make your universal username "harlack" when the "harl-" part divorces you.

Oh Jack.

He's legitimately going to kill himself.

Gotta say, the elements of religion in ds9 are my less favorite, being religious myself. I have no problem with it not being in Star Trek, but then it suddenly is a thing. It's like they're saying, again, they only don't like one specific religion, but all the others are fine.

I also remember Mike complaining that he disliked how current Trek is about destiny and fate and all that... and that's an important aspect of this one show. New trek is trying to emulate Buffy badly, but also ds9.

Their mistake is in doing it season by season. Everything that's truly great about DS9 only gets going once the Dominion is introduced. The first couple of seasons aren't bad by any means, but they're mostly just mid-tier TNG episodes with a pricklier set of characters. You do get Odo, Quark, and some Garak, but none of that on its own is enough to show off what's best about the show.
I think Mike and Rich want people to watch DS9, and talking about the whole show in one video is less likely to inspire people to watch it. Going season by season give people time not only for watching it and catch up, but they can even watch more and watch a next video already they already watched season 2 and 3.

Kids who were big fans of Buffy/Angel.

No I'm not really joking or making it up.
For those who don't know, Angel had a puppet episode.

But... it is within context.

Angel fights demons, and a group of demons wanted children's energy. They did so by posing as puppets in a TV show and when kids watched the show, they hypnotized them to absorb their energy through the screen. When Angel went to confront those demons, he got turned into a puppet himself temporarily.

This works perfectly in a fantasy /supernatural framework, not on scifi.

I've been trying to get through this Deep Space Nine video for three days now. What a fucking slog.

When was the last time RLM released something really good and entertaining? It feels like forever for me.

Also imagine your wife divorcing you AFTER you sober up. Sorry Jack

I got recommended their top TNG episodes due to I suppose from watching their latest DS9 episode. Rich really tips his fedora very hard and shows his midwittery (as does Mike but not as hard to be fair). His number one episode of TNG is "Who Watches the Watchers" which he describes as "Star Trek puts no value in the concept of faith. Star Trek is all about reason and rationality." Which, first of, there's very literal episodes of both TOS and TNG where the rational and reasonable characters like Spock and Data respectively are shown that their methods aren't always the correct answer so I have no idea where the fuck he gets that. Like the whole point of a having an entire crew is because you need to have various points of views and skillsets to be able to traverse the fucking universe. Second, I'm gonna call this midwittery cause for whatever reason Rich has a huge thing against religion, more than likely family related, so he really values reason, science and all that shit... in a TV show. Like if you applied this in real life I could see the benefits but it seems like he solely applies to TV show writing. Bizarre.

Then he talks about the episode "First Contact" and how he wanted the fictional politician to be real cause he wouldn't be like those other politicians at the time (ie Trump and Biden arguing) pointing to how the politician and Picard have a reasonable conversation where they let each other talk and exchange ideas. In a shocking case of autism, he thinks this is the equivalent of a debate. Again, just rampant midwittery. He really thinks he's so smart for thinking this.
