If that's the case then why does the majority of the stufff "advertised" by these channels get boycotted and ends up losing money?
I keep hearing "Get woke, go broke!" and "Disney is losing sooo much money!" and yet they keep producing this crap. Rings of Power was such a disaster that any reasonable entertainment company would have taken it behind the barn and shot it, and yet here we are on the verge of a second season, and to all appearances it's going to get all five that were promised.
Look: I'm not saying that the Fandom Menace types are what keeps this crap afloat. But it does keep it in the cultural conversation. It's not just a matter of catering to people who loved these franchises and are now being shit on by them; it allows the slugs who are in favor of this trash to point and say, "See! See how mad we're making the chuds! We're doing something right!" Didn't a Doomcock stand-in wind up in one of the Marvel shows? There's a weird, parasitic relationship that goes beyond mere critiquing or making fun of bad tv.
And that's where I say they're part of the problem: they are as dependent on Disney / Amazon / insert your Terrible Brand here as anyone who's getting paid by them to shill. I think the Fandom Menace types began in a very honest, sincere place, in that they felt betrayed by media creations they loved for years. But once they figured out they could build their own brands and make their own money trashing them, that became all they do. They don't use whatever influence they have to point their audiences toward better material or new creators. They just continue to create buzz around the rotten corpses of franchises that, boycotts or not, refuse to go off into the sunset and just get worse by the year.
