Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.

But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:

Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

You guys remember the tranny who broke into a car and shit all over? Here is his mugshots leading up to his trooning out. Imagine being a woman and having to share a bathroom with this freak.

Here it's 30 bucks for a dozen donuts here but I live in Dallas and they're not too crazy but overpriced. But the. Again deep elum is safe to take the kids and stoners during the day while after dark it's 18+ only.

Dallas Metro I guess hasn't gotten the memo yet as there are a couple of 24/7 Dunkin locations still left.
I was near deep ellum just this Saturday from ~12-5pm. It's a ok during the day and at night as long as you're not blackout drunk or hanging out with wannabe cholos or gangbangers.

oh and *everyone* who isn't either a fullblown redneck or keeping their voting habits a closely guarded secret is a total doomer. you talk to people for 30 seconds and you hit their beliefs in the coming end of the world.
Do these people get out innawoods on a semi-regular basis? I find that does wonders for restoring emotional stability, and this is a great part of the world for doing that.

I think city living -- especially in urban decay like Portland -- may breed mental ilness. So that could be why The Cult of Progress wants everyone to live in the soy city, instead of out in nature where "wrongthink" can more easily grow from a healthy mentality...

It absolutely does. Humans are communal, but not that communal, and everyone needs personal space and the ability to get some quiet solitude to clear their minds once in a while. None of that in the rush and noise of the city.

The problem is their mindset pushes people into a box and those that can't fit in the box often are pushed out of polite society forced to not be part of the "it crowd". People who are urbanites want to be part of the "it crowd" this means they often go to insane virtue signaling lengths to fit in.

This goes back a few weeks, but I don't see it posted anywhere. If the handout exists online I can't find it. 😟 I'm sure it would be illuminating.

'It's about fairness': Portland Public Schools considers grading changes to reduce bias in classrooms
The district is considering making changes focused on measuring students' content knowledge, rather than behaviors like missing assignments or turning in late work.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Portland Public Schools is considering adopting new ‘equitable grading practices’, which would change how teachers grade students.

A handout from the school district said historical data shows racial disparities in students’ pass/fail rate.

The handout also instructs teachers to not assign zeros to assignments that are handed in late, or are missing. It also states that for students caught cheating, they are to face disciplinary action instead of having their grade be penalized.

District administrators said these changes and others would make classrooms more fair and reduce bias.

"What it's doing is, it's assessing mastery and accuracy,” PPS’ Chief Academic Officer Kimberlee Armstrong said.

Armstrong said zeros given for missing or late assignments usually throw off the entire grading scale. The handout also instructs teachers to not give less than a 50% grade for any work that is incomplete, late or does not meet expectations. Late work would not be penalized.

"Whether or not a student does things on time is less important than what they do," Gayle Thieman, a professor of curriculum instruction at Portland State.

In the new grading system, students would not be scored for participation and effort because administrators said these can be scored with bias. Homework and group grades would also not be graded.

Armstrong said the new grading system would make the system fairer because students have different responsibilities outside of the classroom.

"It's about fairness, it's about reducing bias, it's about considering the diverse backgrounds and needs of students," Armstrong said.

But some parents are not in favor of the potential grading system. They don’t believe the new system takes effort into consideration.

"An A is effort and an F is failing,” Lamarr Hardy, a parent of two PPS students said. “And so if a child doesn't do their work, you know they need to get an F."

Hardy said finishing all work assigned to his children is an important way for them to learn to finish work on time.

"That's responsibility, that's how we teach our kids responsibility," he said.

PPS instructional framework does instruct teachers to be persistent in not allowing students to opt out of assignments.

But Armstrong said for students that have shown they are proficient in a subject, they would not be penalized for not completing an assignment.

"The practicing of the skill is different than showing mastery of it,” Armstrong said. “And that's really what we want to happen."

The grading system is expected to go into effect in the fall of 2025. The district has already implemented the grading scale in some schools, and administrators said it has led to higher student motivation. It has not yet been decided if it will be for K-12 students, or just for middle and high schoolers.

Power level incoming:
The social decay in Oregon, where we moved to escape L’os Angeles, is what finally prompted us to leave the US altogether

It ain’t Ramona Quimby’s Portland anymore and hasn’t been for a long time, I am legitimately afraid for my one remaining relative in the city, although I have little sympathy for the idiots who quite literally voted for this.

This is a couple months old but I just thought this headline was so funny I had to post it here. The soft bigotry of low expectations. Note that this would remove penalties for cheating.
