To be entirely fair, that Pat guy intentionally shitposts to get in dumb Twitter arguments for funsies. He’s liked and retweeted posts that both point out bad the argument is and just says stuff to fuck with people.

Why the trees though? At least Legends upped the battle animations that were "meh" in SwSh.

These people have reached peak cherrypicker.

Huh, I know that Taurus guy, small world and yes he's like that when he spergs about Nintendo/fighting games at Maximilian dood's discord server

I did notice the trees too but by the end of the trailer I thought it looked fine, not that I'm that interested in it to start with

These days people who screech about Pokemon and bashing its fans for having “low standards” are even more insufferable than Gamefreak shills. Especially when said screechers are people with furry pfps that get off to Pokemon fetish porn in between their screaming and anime pfps with the most basic tastes in anime that masturbate to underage Pokemon girls.

It also comes from fans of other monster tamer games who accuse Pokemon fans of “ruining other monster taming games” and accusing them of ruining the chances of other games in the genre of coming to the west. They’ll go after Pokemon fans who simply call a game “Pokemon like” and blame them for ruining the genre. It’s funny because I’ve never seen any Pokemon fans get hostile or hateful towards other monster taming games. These people are just coping hard because Yokai Watch didn’t succeed in the west.

I’ve been considering doing a community watch thread on these clowns since there are some pretty mentally unwell people in the monster taming fanbase but the community isn’t big enough to warrant one.

Edit: More cope
Some pokemon review channels are even getting into the whole "social commentary" bs that Legends is a reference to the Ainu genocide.

Lyk 'murica and killin' injuns n' sheeeeeeit!

I haven't seen any of the trailers since I want to go into the game blind, but my guess is that it sets a bad example for the rest of the environments in the game. It's like that one cliff in SwSh that was overlooking the wild area or whatever, and how bad that looked in screenshots/trailers. Actually, I think that one looked worse in game than it did trailers?

Point being Game Freak hasn't exactly made immaculate 3D environments before, with limited scope, and now they're making a full-fledged open world game. I don't think it'll be as bad as others have made it out to be, but it'll probably be about par with the rest of their titles. I just hope the gameplay is fun.

I don't understand how grown ass adults have time to seethe on the internet that the new Pokemon game isn't some imaginary perfect product. It's very confusing to me as a long time fan of the series that's never really been shy to criticizing it that all these people popping out of the woodwork to screech about poorly textured trees or shadow draw distance don't think they look like flippant children.

It’s all clout chasing. People see that big name youtubers and twitter fans are criticizing the graphics and want in on the bandwagon. I could be wrong but I never noticed people throwing huge fits over the 3D graphics of Pokemon games until the dex cut happened and people like Distant Kingdom got popular off the controversy.

Yeah. And it's not like there aren't things to he unhappy about with new Pokemon games. Hell I'll always be a little upset that we got cucked out of a true definitive edition of the Hoenn games because Masuda decided that Battle Facilities were cringe, but Im not going to spend my life seething on twitter about it because I have better things to do

These people who are still nitpicking about the trees in the upcoming Pokemon games are missing the point as to why the infamous tree in Sword/Shield was criticised to begin with. The reason it became a meme mainly because Masuda was giving excuses for some Pokemon being cut from the game e.g. "higher quality animations" and thus people began to make fun of how bad the game looks and doesn't help that Game Freak at the time was also developing another game nobody gives a shit today. When you can't have good graphics in a game you need content to compensate for it, and at the time it was at least somewhat understandable for the outrage.

Making a fuss about the trees in the upcoming Pokemon game is already redundant, unfunny, stupid and complaining for the sake of it. The trees in the upcoming Legends game definitely aren't super fantastic, but they certainly aren't bad either. There definitely are Pokemon games back then that had great graphics, but that's not the point, point is it's 2021 and I still cannot believe that people act as if graphics are the most important parts of the game. Yes, I get that Pokemon is literally the highest grossing media franchise even though most of the sales come from merchandising, so it is understandable you expect a higher quality product, but these graphic-whore complaints aren't helping.

It's a sad endless cycle. I get that "Don't ask questions, just consoom product and get excited for next product" mentality is something that needs to be criticised, but if you are still buying the game just for the sake of hating on it, and even if you don't buy it you are still complaining about it for months as if it's rent free to you thus giving more publicity, you pretty much become what you hate. This doesn't apply only to Pokemon by the way.

Most of those types of fans don’t even buy or play Pokemon anymore, they just want to jerk off to anthro Pokemon fetish art and underage Pokegirls.

Also most of those people are a part of the monster taming fanbase in general where their anti fanboyism is just the other side of the same coin as Gamefreak defenders and extremely hypocritical. They will make massive reaches to claim Pokemon designs are ripped off from other games (Like Dragon Quest) but get super pissed if you compare a Pokemon design to one from another game. My favorite was some dude who desperately tried to claim that Pokemon SuMo’s plot is a rip off from Digimon Cyber Sleuth. I played both games and the two are nothing alike aside from some surface level tropes that are prevalent in RPGs in general. You have to walk on eggshells around some of them since even innocently saying a game is “Pokemon like” will have them yell at you and go on a tirade about Pokemon not inventing the monster genre.

It’s a shame. I adore monster taming games and I was under the impression that fans of non Pokemon games were more mature and chill but it looks like they aren’t.

I'm honestly just glad they're trying something new with legends. As of right now, I'm pretty hyped, it looks like they tried to make it different, put in things fans have been waiting for for a long time, and I can't wait to see what more they have to offer. My only complaint so far would be if they do the ride pokemon thing from sun and moon, let me own and bond with my ride pokemon damnit!

Of course the majority of them are bitchy white liberals. Looks like another case of Westerners, especially Americans, shoving their noses into a history and culture they know fuck all about to play white savior to a group of people who probably don’t give a fuck.

Tbh if PLA does well I'd love to see another Legends game set in a type of colonial Unova, that would be super cool

I would love a Legends Unova where we get to see the original dragon,
I really would love to have an entire arc in the past, and we get to see more variants of Pokemon that have either adapted to the climate at the time, or now extinct species.

A deeper immersion into the world of Pokemon where history, politics and culture is explored more.

You know what would clinch the promotion for this even further? A movie where Ash is accidentally sent back to Hisui by Celebi and joins Galaxy Team as a member of the survey corps to help with the first pokedex. Only to be derailed by the usual cookie cutter plot most Pokemon movies follow.

It'd be pretty predictable, but hey, gotta get those movie bux and autistic screeching.

This is the problem though, other than Unova what other region would make a good legends? I guess you could do Kalos for Xygarde but if they aren't willing to get into the nitty gritty of the Kalos war it can be a bit limiting potential wise.

Alola? Then again that sounds a bit too recent, maybe.. Johto?

Kanto and Johto are literally right next to each other geographically. A Legends game about their history would be epic. Would tell the story behind the Burned Tower, if the regions were originally named differently (for example, Hokkaido used to be called Ezo). If the Pokemon were any varied from climate and environmental factors, and if ancestors of common characters we know lived at that time.

Like the Okido/Oak family.

Kanto: how far that Nostalgia can go?
Johto: what happened a the Burned Tower? Plus... SpaceWorld!
Hoenn: what happened during the clash between Groudon and Kyogre? (probably redundant, but can reintroduce those blank Pokédex entries)
Alola: did Galar (or Isshhu) conquer Alola?
Galar: that game had a big unexplored past!

Kalos: what exactly happened during the great war?
