Cutting costs perhaps?
I was thinking about this, and I don't think that's the case here. I think it's more likely to do with either time restraints, lack of proper transfer software, or they just want these games to truly be a fresh start.

Why did they think this was a good idea? They basically committed suicide with this announcement. It is possible that this is the same situation as what happened with being unable to transfer rby and gsc Pokemon to rse but I doubt it. If they were going to plan to make a patch later they should have said so or say nothing at all.

I’m sure it’s going to be a gradual thing bringing the other Pokémon into the game. Yeah, it sucks they’re not all there from the start, but like...that’s a LOT of Pokémon.

ESPECIALLY if they’d have to program models to walk around.

Well this is depressing, I was all hopped up and ready to pre-order the double pack but the news about transferring Pokemon is just disgusting. I had a feeling that Go and Let's Go would make Game Freak lazy, but I'd NEVER suspect they'd make them complicit in violating Pokemon's main slogan.

And to add insult to injury people are digging up old videos of Pokemon Bank's announcement where they mention that the Pokemon players have raised for years mean a lot to said group, it's strong enough to bring tears to your eyes.

There's the rub that's pissing everybody off. The animations for the 3D models has largely stayed the same since Gen 6, Gen 7 has unused walking and running animations for EVERY Pokemon in the game, and the models themselves have insane amounts of polygons for models found in other 3DS games (said high polygon count is also why the 3DS games run so terribly when you're in a Double Battle, SOS battle, or Horde Battle. The 3DS just can't handle rendering that many polygons without shitting itself).

Exactly. I think it's going to be something quietly patched in over the course of a couple of updates for the main game and Home. I find it hard to believe that Gamefreak forgot that one of the draws to Pokemon is catching them all.

Truth be be told the salt is pretty hilarious as well as understandable.

On one hand I can completely understand the disappointment as people do have an emotional connection to these virtual mons. It's no surprise to me that some people would be somewhat upset. HOWEVER, I do think some people are definitely being a bit...lolcowish about it? Like, I get being upset, but some people on the forums (not here) are really freaking out, especially on reddit/twitter. Like not having every single mon in the game isn't going to be the end of the world...AT FIRST. This is especially considering Home won't even come out until the next year. Hell, we don't even know the full extent of the pokedex yet but we do see we have over 100 returning mons already. I feel that they might just not include the legendaries/mythicals, some other lesser-known mons and that's about it. That being said, every pokemon is someone's favorite, but I don't think it's worth cancelling the game over.

Personally, I do agree that this is going to be quietly patched over. Considering the big stink it cause I have no doubt they knew this would piss off players. But imagine the salt if they told us this RIGHT BEFORE the Home app came out. That would be something.

This is stupid and I love him.
Dark/Fairy.

Goblin or bat? I kind of like him. Probably goblin because Europe and fairies and Irish folklore. It'll be interesting to see what he evolves into.

Will Yamper stay corgi-ish as it evolves? Are we just gonna have a giant corgi?

They're probably doing something similar with what they did for Gen 5: not having Pokemon from other Gens until a certain point in the game so people will try the new 'mons.

I will go with "Option A" given that if Gen 8 will introduce 100 new 'mons that will be over 900 total. If they wanted it to be a true fresh start, they would have gone with all new Pokemon ala Pokemon Black & White instead of bringing any old favorites. The best course of action--as I see it--is to just wait and see. This could be something they can "fix" with a patch later on.

People are experiencing/faking heartbreak because they have to start over without shit from two decades ago. They just don't know how to let go.

I Share that sentiment. Don't some of you guys think you're overreacting just a bit?

If I can't play as Scrafty then I don't want to play your stupid game.

In all seriousness, everybody has their favorite Pokemon; Pokemon they've carried with them across games and across consoles. It sucks that after 20-odd years of playing with the same Pokemon that they're going to have give them up. I'm sure all the new Pokemon will be great and all, but I WANT MY GODDAMN SCRAFTY.

I understand. The reason why I'm not broken up about this is because I've yet to actually use pokemon bank.

That's how I'm starting to see it too. I can get the heartbreak but at the same time people are really acting like they're deleting your favorite mons from the game. They aren't. lol. The people going "well they aren't here NOW so they might as well not exist" is just really dumb. I'm sure we'll get a patch eventually.
