Remind me what the point of Gigantomaxing when we already have Mega Evolution which lasts the entire battle?

Also, why does every fire starter have to be bipedal? I'm still bummed over not getting a circus tiger Pokemon from Litten. I guess it makes sense for the rabbit, which I assume will be a hare (those guys actually punch each other).

I'm sick of every starter turning into a humanoid. The whole "furry rpg class" thing was neat at first, but they should go back to peppering the humanoid starters in with the animalistic ones.

So apparently a leak on 4chan that correctly leaked pretty much every detail from the direct (two weeks back) contained plenty of other interesting news.

Read it here on this faggy news site.

  • Cross region evolutions are returning, or something close to them.
  • Some Pokemon get new forms when Dynamaxing because dude fuck mega evolution lmao, it's called Gigantomaxing and it's totally different from Mega Evolution because we here at GF are galaxy brains
  • Bump into online randos out in the field sometimes
  • Third legendary is evil
  • Scorbunny is going to be another fighter, though may not have fighting type
  • Sobble turns into a spy
  • Grookey turns into big gorilla with a drum
  • Electric Corgi Pokemon
You forgot the new regional evolutions plus I think the confirmation of regional variants? Farfetch'd in particular is noted to get an evolution called Sirfetch'd, and a Meowth looking like "a ball of spiky fur" which is odd considering not only did it just get a regional form last gen but apparently it also has a Gigntomax form different from the Galarian form as well? Surely at least one of the Meowth-related quips is a white lie as Dunsparce pointed out.

At any rate if the Sirfetch'd part (along with other mons) is true that'll be great. Aside from Sylveon there hasn't been evos of old mons for over 10 years since Unova had an entirely new roster and megas effectively "replaced" the concept of new evos afterwards.

Turning back to Pokemon games of yesteryear, I've played Soul Silver for five hours over the past week and I've only just reached (but not beaten) the second gym. This is because I have a team of four 'mons which I'm trying to keep roughly evenly levelled. I heard Johto was a grindfest, but it really has to be played to be believed.

I'm still enjoying it, and taking things slowly isn't such a bad thing, but I wish there just a bit more exp out there to move things along. I've heard it's better to play with a team of 2-3 so there's more exp available. I think I'll probably stick to four if that's the case since my team's quite well-rounded.

I've recently tried playing SS but it takes so long to level shit up. I really want to play the old games because the newer ones have so many fucking cutscenes but i need that entire party exp share or I get bored.

Generation 4 (Diamond and Pearl) is a big grindfest as well, IIRC. I made my way through the game but it was not without getting really bored and frustrated.

Of course I know it's partially due to my picking the water starter.

All Pokémon can go Giant, not all can go Mega.

That’s my guess, at least.

I love Soul Silver, but yeah the level curve in it isn't great. You will not be able to keep up with the gym levels if you just stick to trainers, something pretty easy to do in Fire Red/Leaf Green. Luckily the Johto gyms aren't too high level so it most likely won't be a really annoying issue until the 8th gym or Elite Four battles. Still fun though and I regularly do nuzlocke runs on that one.

Is it just me or were the gym levels in Platinum a little too high? I was getting seriously outpaced while battling everyone. I think the last gym had pokemon in the 60's but I was only in like the 40's. Also fuck all the hm's they make you use. That was awful and annoying

Nah, Gigantomaxing is the supposed leaked function where some Pokemon change form when they get huge. So essentially Mega Evolution but only for 3 turns and specific to this dumb new gimmick.

I always thought the best way to combat the "B-B-BUT WHERE'S MY MEGA" thing was to introduce the Perfect Sync thing from Pokken. Every Pokemon can Perfect Sync, some just get an aura and a stat boost, others get unique looks and abilities/type change. Then they could replace all the Mega Stones with a single item.

You know, I mentioned forever ago how the Pokepelago in Sun and Moon reminded me of the farm Island things from digimon dawn and dusk but like...

the Wild vaguely reminds me of Digimon next world order...
this is what it looks like, it's barren and boring like a ps2 game

You have TWO digimon following you. So they could add a partner pokemon and finally make use of all those pokemon walking cycles but IG not.

I'm absolutely not saying they stole anything but pokemon is so behind digimon it's unbelievable. dusk came out in 2007 and the pokepelago just got implemented in 2016 and digimon world: next order (i haven't played digimon since dusk so this is the only other example i can think of) has at least had over world enemies that attack you in the free roams since 2016 and we're only getting that now in pokemon. It's crazy to think about honestly.

I haven't played Digimon Dusk but the two are nothing alike. I think you're kind of reaching with the environments too. Digimon Next Order is apparently a spritual successor to Digimon World 1 with the same over world battle style.
I know they're far from exact copies and there are a lot of differences but they remind me a lot of each other, which is inevitable because of the material they have to work with. For me it's different enough but just seems eerily familiar but it's probably because I was playing it the other night after Sword and Shield info came out.

I think Digimon went with some interesting mechanics but went crazy with the bazillion unrecognizable beasts while Pokemon got super recognizable magic animals but can't stick with the new mechanics to save it's life. so it's interesting to me.

That's true. Each Digimon World game was from a different genre. Though it's hard to appreciate the different mechanics of the Digimon games because almost all the interesting features are locked behind massive grind fests.

If Scorbunny turns into a monstrous jackalope I'll probably end up picking that one (unless he has weird robotic looking protrusions or whatever, then Grookie).

I'm kind of on the fence about this.

Mainly, because I'm kind of tired of how easy the series has been, lately. But on the other hand, it almost looks like a quality open-world game.

On a somewhat minor note that may be of interest to Pokemon TCG players/collectors, it appears that Unbroken Bonds (the most recent TCG set in terms of release) is now out of print and it may be a sign of things to come in terms of how long new sets are printed for.

EDIT: And it appears that said set is NOT out of print, TPCi is just being cautious and printing sets to meet demand as to avoid the same fuck-ups that Steam Siege and Evolutions ended up in.
Too bad it looks like SonicFox.
