Yet to see the direct, so can't quite predict what'll happen with the new cover legendaries, but I'm guessing each game has its own central mcguffin, that'll turn something (be that a pre-evolution, or a structure) into the respective cover pokemon.
Might explain the mention on why they look similar to one another

Corviknight is fucking 7 feet tall. I’m in awe of the size of this absolute unit.

On one hand I like it but on the other hand seeing Pokemon in Breath of the Wild-esque open world is so jarring.

Of course 3D was jarring for some people a few years ago.

Never been a fan of battle gimmicks outside of megas.

Corviknight is nice, and mad turtle is kinda interesting ("do we really need yet another turtle' aside), but everything else is really dumb, tho I'm happy to see you can make Raichu giant now.

So here's something stupid. Gossifleur and Eldegoss have a "new" ability that lowers the speed stat of the enemy if they're attacked with a contact move. Except oh wait, not one, but two abilities with that exact function already exist (Gooey and Tangling Hair). Fucking wow.

To be honest their are so many abilities that are just clones of others ones that I just stopped giving a fuck. Hell Gen VII did it far worse by introducing 3 abilties that all make priority moves useless against the user (Dazzling, Queenly Majesty, and Psychic Surg) (Gen VII nerfed the hell of out priority moves in general, not really sure why though)

Not like anybody is ever going to use that ability anyways when the other option is Regenerator..

"Island of the Giant Pokémon" is a thing, now, I guess. Except not really since it doesn't last long and it's just kinda meh? There's probably a reason behind why it's a thing since there's a red beam of light shooting out from like a well or something, so it appears to just be unique to Galar. But I guarantee they're going to force you to use the gimmick in-story like they did with Megas and Z-moves, although Z-moves being a once-per-battle meant you had to strategize when it was appropriate to use.

I dunno, seems pretty stupid that they have an entire stadium dedicated to DynaMax battles except it's still the same size as your typical stadium and it's like "Lol what's safe fails?" I think I would've preferred a soccer minigame like I think people were expecting with the kid's attire.

So is Corviknight going to be a buff Skarmory? I can dig it.

I mean, they cant actually force you to use shit but once in the tutorial for it. I primarily avoided mega evolutions until endgame and have used z moves less than 5 times probably.

Idk but realistically if you want to take down a huge pokemon yours will have to be huge itself because imagining a joltik taking down a fucking giant dynamax gyarados is kinda hilarious.

I think it was to balance things that were considered extremely powerful in the Gen VI meta. Hidden Ability Talonflame was widely used because of all Flying moves becoming priority, and then next generation Gale Wings got nerfed to only work when the pokemon is at full HP. It also happened to Mega Kangaskhan. Parental Bond used to provide a power boost better than a Life Orb (+50% vs +30%) without the HP loss, plus Power Up Punch sets were stupid broken because you got to do damage and sharply raise your attack stat at the same time. In Gen 7 they halved the damage the second attack does so it isn't better than Life Orb.

They better let me have the option to not use Dynamax in Gym battles. I want the thrill of taking down a giant mon David and Goliath style.

And also because I hate stupid gimmicks; I didn't use Z-moves to win, and I'm not gonna Dynamax my way to victory either.

Tbh I wish they had just stuck with Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution is great because it made many previously overlooked Pokémon viable in battle and gave them a chance to shine. By adding new abilities/types and giving an enormous boost to stats, so many Pokémon were given ample opportunity to prove themselves.

Z Moves and this new Dynamax thing just feel really gimmicky, not to mention they’re worthless compared to Mega Evolution; Mega Evolution lasts for the entire battle whereas Z Moves last for one turn and Dynamax only lasts for 3. If they’re going to introduce a new gimmick every gen, I wish they would at least make them more useful.

They probably did it because ALL Pokémon can do it, not just some and then you have an entire dumb fan base screaming at you because their favorite didn’t make the cut.

As long as they don't gate Mega Evolution or Z-Moves (the former especially) to post-game, I'm cool. Though knowing Gamefreak, they probably will, let's be real.

Also, love how the Sword Legendary is motherfucking Sif. inb4 the trio master is motherfuckin' Artorias, or some shit.
