Woke up in time to see most off it.

That black bird Pokémon looks really cool.

I like the features shown off but of course, Game Freak is adding gimmicks just for the sake of adding gimmicks. Like, Dynamax? Making the Pokémon giant? Yeah, that's totally an original idea... Armoured Evolution would have been so much better.

The Champion and Professor look alright.

And wow, those Legendaries look AWESOME!

This bitch is 100% on my team.

Most of the new Pokemon introduced look pretty good (Especially Corviknight). The legendaries are really the only dissaponting ones, thanks to them not only looking very similar themselves but they also look far to much like Solgaleo. Maybe their is a plot reason for why they look so similar, but it just kinda erks me.

The new reigon looks absolutely beautiful now that we have a better look at it, and giving Pokemon a huge open world like they have just done is a fantastic idea. Makes you actually feel like you get to explore the region to it's full extent, instead of feeling trapped to a confined area since your character is a retard who doesn't know how to walk around a fucking small bush.

Dynamax is a really dumb gimmick. I really wasn't looking forward to yet another once per battle super move, especially one that is just so uninspired (Wow all of the Pokemon become giant and more powerful, whoop de do). Hell they can't even really expand on it like Mega Evolution and Z-Moves, since looking at it pretty much anything can Dynamax (Mega Evolutions could be given to more Pokemon and the same can be said for exclusive Z-Moves). Mega Evolution in Gen 6 was kinda cool since it was a brand new idea for the series, and Z-Moves in Gen 7 were already kinda pushing it, Gamefreak should teally just "keep it simple stupid".

I'm actually less concerned with how good or not the Dynamax gimmick is and more concerned with the fact that Game Freak probably just gave the macro fetishists on DA and FurAffinity boners. The pokemon tags are most likely going to be awash with giant fetish pics now, even more so than usual.

I'm still not all that interested in Sword/Shield even after the Direct. I think it's most likely because I'm not the target audience anymore and I think they're starting to take the franchise in the direction of Pokemon Go rather than what I grew up with. Will most likely skip out on this one.

Wooloo is Normal
Gossifleur and Eldegoss are Grass
Drednaw is Water/Rock
Corviknight is Flying/Steel

Out of the bunch Corviknight is my favorite by a long shot. The others are just, eh.

At least this finally debunks the Trojan Horse Pokémon. That would have been a bit lame for a legendary and wouldn't have fit the unique look each Generation of the Legendaries had since at least Diamond and Pearl.

And both these guys are equally awesome with equally cool names. Since Gen 2, I always chose my first cart based on which Cover Legendary I liked better.

It's gonna be hard to pick this time!

Thoughts on Direct:

  • Pokemon walking around in the open world. Big Breathe of the Wild open areas between cities filled with pokemon called the Open Area.
  • Some sort of weird giant summon where your pokeball becomes a huge digital version and you throw it with two hands to have a giant two story glowing version. Also seems to be wild Pokemongo Raid battles with these pokemon, that can be caught. Called Dynamax(ing).
    • Mega Evolution that last three turns essentially.
    • Max Raid Battles - can connect with four players in the open area and face a pokemon in permanent Dynamax state, only one player can Dynamax their pokemon in the fight. Local and online playing.
  • Rotom = AI at this point, Stadium Gym battles have a Rotom Drone filming the fight
  • New Pokemon
    • Wooloo, Sheep for the Galar-Scots to fuck.
    • Gossifleur, Grass type evolves into Eldegoss, with a big dandelion afro
    • Drednaw, looks like a no evolution turtle
    • Corviknight, now we know where Corvus Corax went to in the Warp, also is the flying method in the game.
  • Grookie holds a stick as a weapon, might give some hint to it's evolution. Maybe fully into a staff for a Journey to the East reference. (Groookie=Goku)
  • Legendaries are as expected, Sword and Shield dogs, Shield one has a shield like mane around face, dog one hold sword in it's mouth. Zacian(sword) and Zamazenta(Shield).
If that actually happens, I’ll break my lifelong water starter trend if the the sad boi has bad evolutions. And the fact that the Sword Legendary is fucking Sif informs which one I’m getting.

So here's something stupid. Gossifleur and Eldegoss have a "new" ability that lowers the speed stat of the enemy if they're attacked with a contact move. Except oh wait, not one, but two abilities with that exact function already exist (Gooey and Tangling Hair). Fucking wow.

Am I the only one that finds these two dogs some of the most underwhelming legendary Pokemon? The box art does not do them any favors, assuming that is the final look, the fact they look so similar doesn't help them either. I'm just so underwhelmed, then again I've been so disinterested in Pokemon for nearly a decade except for the short time I tried playing Y and didn't even bother to finish it so maybe I've just grown out of Pokemon. The world and all looks really cool, I'm sure people will enjoy it though the dynamax thing looks boring. Mega evolution was a great idea as it brought a way to update really old Pokemon to some relevance, this just looks like a big dumb button you press that only exists to make raids from Pokemon Go a thing.

Ok so I love the sheep and the corvid Pokemon, and of course everyone is looking at the legendaries and immediately crying "furfag", but I like them fine.

Wooloo is the best one. I hope it evolves into a huge ram or mountain goat. Those guys are actually really dangerous.

I can handle look alike pokemon, to a degree they all look alike, the duo's and trios specifically. Landurus, thundurus, and tornadus being nearly identical imo and I have trouble telling them apart.

But they remind me of digimon tbh, thing's carrying a God damn sword.

Honestly the most worrying thing is that I usually pick the game by the version exclusives and the legendary I end up with excluding pokemon white because I wanted reuniclus but I guess I'll just pick whichever one my bf doesnt get... if he even wants it at all. I'll get it for sure but the legendary does not look interesting and tbh I dont even care to learn the story behind it.

That event exclusive legendary pokemon they added to USUM was more of a furbait than the new cover legendaries are. (Zeraora? I can't remember its name because it sounds too similar to Zorua and Zoroark

Is part of the story going to be obtaining a loicense to use dynamax? I agree with everyone saying it's a bad battle gimmick, it's just so uninspired. Even if you dislike mega evolutions they did try to bring new life to specific pokemon. I liked the fact that they got not only increased stats but different abilities. Plus it reminds me we got stiffed out of seeing a mega Flygon, I didn't care much before (some people started to approach levels of spergery of people wanting Waluigi and Geno in Smash) but seeing how uncreative they're getting makes me wish they had given Flygon a mega evo.

I noticed they haven't revealed their wild battle gimmick, though, if gen 6 had hordes and gen 7 had SOS battles I have a feeling they'll have one in these games too.
