I know starters from recent gens get flack for having "too much personality", but these? A grass bird with a seedling face and a gecko with big lashes? Okay?? I don't think you can tell their personalities, unlike with Quaxly, Sobble, etc.
 
obviously the attention is on Gen 10 and Pokopia but it's fucking weird that they announced Pokemon XD for NSO but not Colosseum. We already know they're both announced for it, why aren't they putting up the direct sequel first

I was going to post something similar. They need a new marketing bro. If your average purchase age was 35 in Japan, with an equal split in gender. It's time to stop pandering to children and just grow the series. The fanbase has been FUCKING SCREAMING for an adult Pokémon game for decades.

The Champions advert convinced me this is a company that does not want to come to the realisation that their core audience is: a) autistic or b) troons/neets/manchildren.

Also, I was skipping around to notable Pokémon streamers like Wolfey etc. The reaction is more tepid than I expected. Nintendo has overplayed its hand, it seems.

You can see the Pokémon-riding boards on their sides, seems like it'll be a persistent thing. Also... they do look better than Florian and Juliana, even if the bar is through the fucking floor. Maybe worth noting that the girl is just Selene again, because I can't help but think it's hilariously unoriginal given existing parallels to Alola...
Also, the hat/pack change based on the game. Winds to the left, Waves to the right. Completely inconsequential but I thought it was worth mentioning.

If this doesn't grow up to be the designated PG furbait of the generation I will be very surprised. They're probably trying to give dudes an Inteleon equivalent given how insanely that piece of shit blew up among fujos.

Take a Zorua hair tuft and stick it on a Pomeranian, then call it a day. Bravo Gamefreak. Can't say they don't know how to make something as marketable as physically possible, at least.

Odd, the posing here implies something a lot sillier than its demeanor in-game. I still think it's going to grow up to either be the grumpy "cool" one or something sort of akin to Decidueye.

These three were engineered in a factory to try and recapture the fanbases of existing popular Pokémon. I really don't get how anyone can defend the designs, and this is maybe the first trio I've felt absolutely nothing for. Even Galar had Grookey, and Paldea had fucking Fuecoco. Lol, lmao even.

I heavily disagree, they're very well aware of this. They're pandering to them outright if you pay attention. They're just trying to give those autistic troons/neets the illusion of being normal by using a bunch of normal Modern Audience people and sprinkling their core audience in there among the background characters (like the troon on the Champions bus). That way they can both rope in the retarded normies (who actually see themselves in the ads and think the franchise is for normal people) and convince the troons/neets that they're not weirdo autists for being so invested in the franchise.

Because Pokemon Collosseum is by far the worse game. Like the level curve is straight up nonsensical, the game only has decent pokemon animations because it inherits most of them from Stadium, and the playable roster is almost entirely the inbred johto Pokemon and fucking plusle. JUST plusle, btw, not even with minun in the one game where it makes sense to have both.

XD makes far more sense to release first.
 
The mobile games have metastasized into such a persistent cancer on this series. The last couple years we've had 30 minute directs where 20 to 25 minutes is just mobileshit updates that no one cares about but everyone has to sit through with the hopes that, maybe, after all that filler, they might announce the new main series games.

Pokemon GO and its success have been a disaster for the Pokemon franchise.
 
I saw the stream, it was just as weak as last year's. The only thing that caught my eye was the complete lack of an OG Switch logo in the trailer for Winds and Waves. I hope you idiots are ready to either pay up for a Switch 2 or ditch the games.

also the trailer was pretty much identical to SV's down to certain shots involving lighting on the water and the entire thing looked like "SV with very slightly better graphics"

They're probably banking on the 30th Anniversary TCG set and PokémonXP being the big ticket thing for this year, the latter one being somewhat ironic since tickets for it still haven't dropped yet.

Gecqua bothers me a bit thanks to it looking like a fat-tailed or desert gecko in terms of body shape. I hope its evolutions cause it to drift more towards something along the lines of a tokay gecko (AKA the meanest little fuckers in the gecko world).

That, the way the feet are structured (even if it's missing a toe), and the little tuft of feathers on its head make me think it'll evolve into a cockatoo but the eyebrows are too close to the spot-bellied eagle-owl for my liking.

It's possible that Colosseum ran into some funkiness with NSO's emulation that, for one reason or another, isn't occurring with XD.

I currently don't have any kids so I wouldn't know what's big with them now, but I get no impression that Pokémon is as big for 10 y/o's today as it was for me when I was 10.
Maybe I am selfish, but having an adult game, with adult themes (something deeper than just gooning preferably), doesn't seem like too much of an ask.
Thing about that though is that I don't think it's the children that are keeping the games age locked, I think it's the troons that refuse to accept growing up.

I’d love to see more mature themes, but at the same time look at digimon, where their solution to appealing to older audiences is adding female humanoid digimon for the fanbase to sexualize. I’d love to see them explore more mature themes and go beyond “kid going on an adventure”, but also refrain from doing what digimon does with appealing to coomers.

I'm not particularly impressed by the trailer. It looks nice, sure, but I don't trust Gamefreak enough to believe what's in game will remotely resemble what's shown in the trailer. I'm willing to bet on this game being a buggy, if not buggier, mess than Scarlet and Violet.

The starters don't entice me either. For Browt and Gecqua, it just feels like Gamefreak is retreading old ground. Pombon is a boring design and the name just draws my attention back to the superior designs of Fidough/Dachsbun.
