Rowlet but Angry Birds. Meh. I'll see what they do with the evolution since I would bet it's a different direction from Decidueye, but for now it just seems unoriginal.

This is just a Pomeranian. It's really cute, but not very creative. Considering there's already like 4 other Fire-type canines, I'm not sure what they'll do to make its evolution stand out.

Looks okay, I guess. It feels unoriginal when we already have Sobble, but it does look better than Sobble. I don't care how unenthused people are for the new games in general, the Gen 8 starters are still the bottom of the barrel.

I can see this region feeling pretty different. It's much more jungle-focused it looks like, for one. But it does continue the general vibe Pokemon has had since Gen 6 of Game Freak making new regions based on places they went on vacation to, and making the games feel more like tourist trips than adventures. The leaked plot for Gen 10, if they haven't changed it, is even literally that your character won a free vacation to this region and is staying at a resort hotel as your central hub.

I dunno which page the leaks start on lol so I wasn't paying attention out of lack of interest this time around. Indonesia is a real interesting choice, but I think it took them long enough to do that region. Guess we're gonna be getting a 1% encounter Javan rhino Pokémon.
 
Okay, so I watched the direct to give my own unvarnished opinion.

...the 30 minute intro was the best part. Music remix gave me nostalgia overload which I guess was the intent, but not even that can save the rest of the direct.

Mobile Slop is mobile slop.

Rereleases of FireRed and LeafGreen seems like such a half measure for a 30th anniversary. They could have really thanked their fans by releasing a massive collection of old Pokemon Games all in one place and charged more for it, but instead we get Gen 3 remake of Gen 1. Not even RBE, just FRLG.

XD rerelease is cool, but completely ignoring Colosseum even though it's coming out too is weird. I can only guess that they don't want Wes, the former gang member Pokemon thief front in center for marketing lol.

Pokeopia is some weird mix of Animal Crossing and Minecraft which is more or less what I expected. I think kids will like it, but I have no desire to play it.

Wind and Waves starters look retarded and I hope those designs get touched up. From what little I saw, the screaming Gecko looks ok, but the fire Pomeranian and grass Angry Bird knock off are absolute cancer aids.
 
In all seriousness, I actually really like the starter designs. The bird is my favorite cause it looks like an angry bird mixed with Oscar The Grouch from Sesame Street. A couple of my friends are saying they don't even look like Pokemon anymore but I'm gonna be real with you niggas, I'm 30+ and Pokemon haven't looked like Pokemon to me since Gen 3 so this is nothing new.

Actually, according to the leaks, you can turn the skateboard into a scooter and tether it to any of your mons to use them as ride Pokemon. No need to worry about ride animations, just have them do their running animations while you hang on by a cord (assuming it wasn't scrapped).

Yeah it's been a while and they've been buried in the thread. There's actually a leaked map of the region, it'll be made of multiple islands a la Alola and some of them are near identical to Indonesia's islands.

Who decided to show off the new games and not show a single new pokemon other than the starters? Have we not had enough Wingulls by now? We could have loads of new designs to be excited for and we have 2 blobs and a lizard.

Definitely the gecko due to its eyelashes and vaguely smug face. I bet it's gonna be the designated popular starter with Protean (or an identical HA) like Cinderace and Meowscarada.
 
They will all be fursonas. This is the worst series of starters yet. Two have the same body shape and the third feels like a retread of Intelleon.

To be fair, it’s also the first good game digimon has had in years as well. The replay value alone is something I’ve wanted from a digimon game for years. I wish GF could take a note from them.
