Another thing I miss about older pocketmons is that they could use Japanese writing in original media. Now it is just this generic writing in all versions, as pocketmons is "adapted for global audiences" in Current Year. I also sorta miss how new 'mon vidya would be released in Japan first then localized in the West rather than global release.

(Not being "weeaboo" here, I like different places having different ways.)

ok rapid fire sperg rant about the trailer

>first few seconds, disappointed it doesn't take place in kalos rich past. Wtf they were thinking?
>weird starter choice but ok, as a johto chad totodile is one of my favorites, hoping for a cool mega or regional form that doesn't look like paldean suicune
>characters look unimpressive, generic zoomer slop and the rival friend and ally 🏳️‍⚧️ obviously shares the same model for both genders, lazy ass shit
>bad outfits
>omg AZ is in the game so kewl <3 (unironically)
>megas are back i hope they gonna make some new ones
>all the fag models from swsh still do the same lazy two actions they did in 2013. If I have to see lucario do his weird curse ye ha me ha hand gesture or charizard go RAWR for one more time I'm going to cry
>with the dynamic battle system the lagging models look uncanny, like Elon Musks mannerisms
> battle system looks interesting with the dodging but over complicated, seems like a mobile gatcha game all around. PLA was more intuitive. the models are not made for a dynamic combat system and it shows
> mixed raced couple spotted, bruh
> wtf it only takes place in luminose city?
>the wild areas look like playgrounds, are you kidding me?
>story is stupid and unimpressive
> color scheme looks bad, like paldea. too bright and pastellic 7.8 might cause sensory overload. PLA was at least as dark gothic as pkmn can get, even with the saturation issues
>the cabs still look gay like they did in 2013
1000005913.webp
omegalul
>the Pokémon interacting with the environment seems forced and kinda weird
>navigation around the city probably as cancerous as it can get, old habits die hard
>walking on rooftop is cool in theory, however I'm expecting a lot of issues with the different layers. Looking forward to the bugs. Also, they'll make it as lazy and cutting corners as possible. There will be no secrets to expose except for empty rooms

3/10 would not buy a switch

If that's not enough, have the opinion of another 'tism host. He even has a self made bullshit bingo.

Is this supposed to invoke Red vibes?

No thanks, not playing a game with so many ugly niggers. Someone will have to bleach the game like they did with Sword and Shield.

I updated my Wild Area News to the recent update, having boosted Shiny odds for 9 total species is actually kind of nice for around three weeks and access to some good 7-star event Tera Raid is actually kind of decent.

Oh, and the global version of GO Tour: Unova is happening this weekend. I'm not expecting Shiny rates as good as the paid in-person event (for some odd reason the global version doesn't have a paid ticket, I assume it was sacrificed to sell the Deluxe Go Tour Pass) but I had some decent luck last year.
Right, but what is the limit tied to? The payment method? The name on the payment method? Do they have some sort of face-tracking camera looking out from the machine?
It just seems like, with every method except for having a bouncer for your vending machine, there are clear work-arounds.
Eyewitness reports say it's tied to the payment method, they see people fumbling around with credit cards when one is eventually declined even after the ability to buy a product is "locked" for an unknown amount of time to all buyers.

EDIT: I've also looked at several pics of said vending machines and they're equipped with a camera, it's that black circle near the card reader.

That said it seems we probably won't see madness like this for a while, people are saying that the machines won't be receiving any more 151 or Prismatic Evolutions products for the foreseeable future.

it's not, this is the fantasy text they've been using since approx. XY that doesn't translate into anything. Autists have tried, but as far as I know none have succeeded. Makes sense, I guess, but I feel like it detracts from the immersion when such an important element of an otherwise-relatable world is so alien and also the exact same in every country

Found a pretty funny glitch: In FRR, whenever you're in the area with Legendary Pokemon, May from RS is there to give you a hint. She's there in the Power Plant alright, or rather she's supposed to be: By accident, I assume, her script with her talking is replaced with the script where you pick up a trapped itemball that ends up being Electrode, same level 34, once you talk with her. After you defeat or catch it, once you take another step, "May" respawns, letting you infinitely grind lv 34 Electrodes. This is easy 750 exp for my Rhydon and sometimes I don't even need to do anything, it uselessly explodes dealing little damage and I get the exp anyways. This might be the easiest way to summon endless amounts of the same Pokemon that I have ever seen in this franchise, I will try catching several to see if they have a set nature or IVs. On a downer note, the modder took out Electabuzz from the Power Plant as it is now a Diglett Tunnel Pokemon(Elekid in the base tunnel and Electabuzz in the Regirock Chamber). Disappointing, aside from Zapdos and the trap Electrodes I always think of Electabuzz when I visit this place. Still, at least you can get the Manectric and Ampharos line here if you want.
Edit: According to Serebii, it has a random nature, ability and stats. Bummer, but I guess if you really want to farm a good leveled Electrode for exp, EVs or to simply catch it then this romhack has you covered. I am still catching a few for my collection just for the hell of it.

I always disliked this fake language. It's so pointless and it takes away from the grounded aspect of the gameworld even more. Just another sign of "globalization" for the franchise, so that every person on the planet can get the same experience(and every region in the world looks the same).

If one were to halve the HP and attack powers -- and add resistances that should be there -- of newer cards, than newer cards can fit with the older TCG. For example, that first Archeops card released has 130 HP, a Rock Slide attack with 60 which costs only 3 energy, and no Fighting resistance. Add a Fighting resistance, change the HP to 70, and make the attack 30? Now it fits in with the original.

Funny you should mention Ancient Power Archeops, it's one of the few cards banned from Expanded due to Ancient Power being a really broken Ability despite Archeops being a Stage 2 Pokémon that evolves from a Fossil.

I leave this thread for one day, one friggin day, and this happens.

The new trailer looks like garbage. It has the same plastic chinesium look of SV and the character designs look like they were spat out by a randomizer. The flat wall textured to look like a building that @30+GameOvers pointed out was just top tier comedy. This will be sold at $60, folks.
At least now it looks like an early PS3 game instead of a GameCube game. Baby steps I guess.

The starter choice is just lol. I know Cyndaquil was already used in LA so it would be odd to reuse it here but the fact that they chose the other two Johto starters made it look like Cyndaquil got Metoo'd. The fact that Snivy, which was literally inspired by a French novel, wasn't chosen would be surprising, but then I remembered you used to be unable to catch the Yorkshire terrier Pokemon in a region inspired by the UK.

And the wild Pokemon zones, they remind me of the nighttime stages in Sonic Unleashed, where you get randomly accosted by enemies and you're blocked by an energy field until you defeat all of them. Does it come with a jazz band too?

Which obviously means this game will rival Red and Blue in sales

I don't even know why I still tune into these Pokemon Presents things every year, I haven't played or have wanted to play any Pokemon game after USUM. I just keep hoping they'll put out a decent game using some of their megashekels they make every fucking time but Legends ZA honestly does just look like a worse Palworld.

Personally I just follow the state of the franchise to laugh from afar. I also threw the towel with the Alola games. I gave Legends Arceus a chance and it bored me halfway to death and annoyed me to the other half. The gameplay was a bogged down version of the mainline games, it looked like shit, the story was shit, and above all, the controls were shit.

Why does pressing - open the map, but pressing it again zooms it out? It should close the damn thing. Whose retarded idea was it to make the sneak and sprint buttons the EXACT OPPOSITE of Breath of the Wild's?? Do you know how many times I dashed towards a Pokemon I wanted to sneak up on? Why do I have to press the joystick to run anyway? No other game ever did this. And I can't even remap the controls without fucking up other parts of the game. 🎩

The Gamecube games still look better, maybe not if you look too closely at individual models and texture but because they have soul and an art direction. None of the games after Gen 7 had any of it, hence that infamous video where Sword Shield was compared to Colosseum and Gale of Darkness in the first place
These games are over 20 years old btw, in fact Gale of Darkness is turning 20 this year!

I keep seeing people saying "breeding has been the only thing preventing me from trying competitive and now Champions will finally get me to try it out"

But getting a competitive Pokemon is now just as simple as buying 6 bottle caps and buying vitamins (+10 EVs) and feathers (+1 EV) and now your Pokemon is instantly battle ready after just buying a few items in the ingame store. If that barrier was still too high for you then Champions probably isn't getting you to try competitive unless they actually give you Showdown sliders (lol)

Also if someone actually wanted to get into competitive, it's much more reccomended to start by playing using a rental code of a team someone else already built so you learn the game before trying to build your own.

Yeah, but just because it might be better for them doesn't mean that it's what players will want to do.

They're going to want to make a team with their favorite Pokémon on it, even if it doesn't work that well, as opposed to just being handed the same few dozen meta picks that they feel no connection to.

If you're not autistic enough to go the whole nine yards and do your research/raise and train your team from scratch, you don't have what it takes to compete. Simple as that, even when you have your team you might have to re-train them or train another team when the meta changes, not to mention keeping up with said meta and understanding the mechanics behind it. Casuals won't stand a chance, I bet they don't even have what it takes to compete in Battle Frontier or Battle Tower facilities.
Consequences of ultra-casualizing the fanbase and running off much of the actual hardcore players who are now playing ROMhacks/Showdown, I'm afraid.

Hey, Star Wars managed to turn some random symbols that were flashing on a monitor into a functioning alphabet. Although, it took them a few decades to actually go through with it
