After finding 7 Mageblood cards (The Eye of Terror) and INSTANTLY poofing each one of them across the whole league, I've finally been paid back and found my (shiny!) Mageblood from a Valdo's Puzzle Box :^) Stupid belt took 10+ divines to get 4 flasks... *sigh*

This happened just hours after also finally receiving another belt I've been looking for (Ynda's Stand) to work towards a Cast on Ward Break build that popped up this league. I think the plan now is a PBoD Sanctum Runner because I've always wanted to try that, and the Cast on Ward Break build. Still not really found a "guide" or whatever of how that shit works (except maybe the Makers Discord, but I mostly see normal CWDT wardloopers there) so if anyone here knows of one, feel free to let me know, thanks!

This is a guide that uses the new stuff for ward break, but It looks expensive af so follow at your own discretion.
Great, thanks! Cost isn't a concern since I'm SSF, and I have the new timeless jewel in two spots with 5-6 of the iron flask nodes, as well as both "convert-defences-to-ward" unique items. I'm looking to do it on an Ascendant since I have one at level 100 and I like doing Ascendant builds in SSF, but we'll see if I have to level a Shadow instead :)

Trailer for POO2 is out. For the "Biggest Expansion Ever" seems pretty fucking underwhelming. They've re-worked just about every league gimmick, which is good, don't get me wrong. And they've adjusted the atlas obviously, including adding some end-game tree type stuff with Atlas classes and some kind of loot-tree thing.

Huntress and monk each get a new ascendency.

But looks like they're still going full-bore into clunkiness. Of course shit looks fine in the trailer, but if you actually tried to use any of the skills they showcase, you'd be dead in seconds.

40 new "Kalgurian skills" which I guess are the POO2 versions of Vaal-skills, which will maybe be situationally fun, but ultimately useless.

No tree re-work, no new classes, no new weapons, no gameplay adjustments. I'm sure there'll be a lot of stuff/areas not really revealed in depth ("explore the oceans"), but it seems like the vast majority of the effort just went into making the old stuff (breach, expedition, atlas, ritual) less shitty.

We'll see, there's always a bunch of shit they don't really talk about, but so far this just screams play for a week and then wait for the next POE league if you're actually looking for anything fun.

Thank you, thank you, everybody. It’s fantastic to be here. You know, they said it couldn’t be done. They said, “No one can top the last expansion.” But we don’t do small. We do huge. Tremendous. And today, I’m here to tell you—we have the biggest expansion ever in the history of Path of Exile!

You’ve seen other expansions—good, nice—but nothing like this. We’re talking new leagues, new skills, new items—things you’ve never even imagined. The monsters? Deadlier than ever. The bosses? Stronger. The loot? Absolutely incredible. People are saying it’s the most exciting Path of Exile patch they’ve ever seen. And they’re right.

We’re expanding the Atlas like nobody’s ever expanded it before. Maps, regions, encounters—everything bigger, better, more rewarding. And the economy? Oh, it’s going to be huge. Trade like you wouldn’t believe. Items you’ve been dreaming of—finally, they’re yours.

And let me tell you—this is not just another patch. This is historic. Record-breaking. Players are leveling faster, farming smarter, and conquering the hardest bosses in ways you never thought possible. It’s the biggest, most incredible expansion in the history of Path of Exile. And everyone’s talking about it. Everyone!

So grab your Exalted Orbs, your unique items, your builds, and your best flasks—because we are just getting started. This is the biggest expansion ever, and Path of Exile is winning like never before.

Thank you, gamers. Play hard, grind smart, and may your loot always be legendary!

Genuinely the most boring league mechanic I've ever seen, even worse than Archnem. I would've been fine with a minimalist league like Mercenaries was for an update this large.

They still need to fix the game in general. The new Huntress ascendancy being able to use bosses as companions looks like it's gonna be funny as shit, tho.

Might log on for a week then dash, I guess.

lots of new stuff, but did they confirm Swords/The Gladiator yet?
No, will probably come out with 1.0 which they confirmed will be released "sometime" after exile-con in November.

My thoughts on the patch is that it probably has given me incentive to play the game longer, at first I would finish the campaign, do a couple of hours of mapping and call it a day, but now I will at least finish every questline that they added for the leagues. But yeah, overall somewhat underwhelming, was really hoping for a new class/weapon type and just balance/mechanical changes, but it looks like I will have to wait for 1.0 for that to happen. Still tho, looks banger and I am excited for the 29th of May (30th of May more realistically, since patch drops at midnight for me.)

edit: oh yea, also the new monk ascendancy looks sick, will probably be playing that for the majority of the league

GGG be releasing the biggest content they've ever released and dwarfing other arpgs and people will still call it underwhelming :lit:.
I agree, we are spoiled by GGG and we always expect more than what they deliver (which is almost always so much). But for me personally, the reason I am underwhelmed is there isn't really a build/build type I like in poe2 and it's one of the main reasons that I don't play the game as much, I like strike skills with melee weapons and for that, you only have the monk and the quarter staff (maybe huntress too?), mace and spear strike skills suck so much, and slam aren't much better, so it kinda ruins the moment to moment gameplay for me, and also ruins the replayability since the skill pool which satisfies me is so limited.

That being sad, I'm still really hyped and can already see myself playing a lot this league.

Be interesting to see what people say about the new patch, but I still doubt it'll be fully cooked by the end of the year.

while its true its a ton of content here's the issue with POE2, until the fix this, its fundamentally a fucked game.

You do not hunt for loot in POE2, you hunt for currencies, to buy exactly the peice of gear you need from other players, its Bitcoin mining to buy your weapon, you farm the coins out of enemies, any attempt at making top tier loot is mathamatically against you in a huge degree.

if they fix crafting with this patch, I'll absolutely play, likewise if loot from enemies becomes statistically more likely to be even in the fucking ballpark, the fucking zipcode, the god damn Galaxy of being close to usable.

I'm not betting on the latter, but the former, crafting is possible, which even when they fix crafting, that just means POE2 is a "currency and crafter" game, the "Loot" is almost all worthless except for the shit your target farming from Super bosses.

While I understand where you're coming and have some degree of agreement to it, I think you are still looking at it wrongly in some ways.
I mean, what do you mean by "loot" over here? If you think it's like d4, then sure it's definitely not the same. Fixed loot would be unique items here, and uniques in poe games always have a puzzle element to it, it gives some unique effect, and you have to solve all the inefficiency with it. Meanwhile d4 just straight up give you a unique that is a straight upgrade or bis item with no downsides.

Crafting while it's still too convoluted for my liking, has never been more deterministic in poe game. You can "deterministically" craft a good tier 3 items essences and omens, yes, deterministic, it's doable since last patch. And that tier 3 items is sufficient to do all content including pinnacles, outside maxed juiced content.

Yes, you hunt for currencies, because currencies are materials for crafting. And no, you don't really "have" to buy, you can craft, the problem is nobody ever bothers to learn how to craft, so some people people earn currencies by crafting desirable items for people to buy, otherwise how do you think those items happen to be on marketplace?

Can you do it with more fixed items like uniques and simple crafts? Also yes, but also unfortunately, people don't bother to make their own builds too. They watch streamers, who try to build meta, which uses bis items, and complain builds doesn't work without those items.

In poe1 there's tons of builds that can reach Uber under 10divs in value, but most people won't learn why those builds work, so crafters/opportunist watch those vids, immediately craft those items, mark up the price 8-10x, now the build costs 40divines, and people complain again.

I'm not disagreeing in the sense that I believe the knowledge barrier can be lowered(and it already is in poe2) more, but I think poe games just need a certain amount of investment to understand the game better than other arpgs. And no, I'm not an expert in either too.

Im the end, loot drops/currencies can drop more, but it still won't matter because people will then increase the price of items, so at the end of the day, learning the craft will always be the way to affordable gears.

I'm similar, I'm probably one of those guys who keep screaming "swordssss". But 0.5 update is just insane.
Anyway, for those who are patient, they can always wait till 1.0, which will be even crazier than it is now.... And truly free too.
In the meantime, I just try to learn more about how I can optimizey run and my league starter builds.

POE 2 isn't deterministic crafting, it's gambling/expensive identifying.

You put the currency coin in the slot and you hope it poops out the stat you want, and if it doesn't you can pay more to keep trying

No way, utter nonsense, you just haven't played last league. Greater Essences literally let's you add a guaranteed affix, and Perfect Essences will swap one affix to another predetermined affix, and omens literally let you lock in which prefix/suffix you can add or remove.
Crafting a 400+ dps weapon is not a 50/50 affair, it's clear cut guaranteed.
You use omens and then Abyss currencies, and you literally add a veiled modifier to a fixed prefix/suffix, poe1 doesn't even have it.

Your right I didn't, I'm incorrect

but if you actually tried to use any of the skills they showcase, you'd be dead in seconds.
Actually, the warrior fissure build they showed off is a really good boss killer. I made one in 0.4 and used it for all the content. It wasn't my favorite build of the league, but it definitely worked well.

Edit: Is there a Poe2 exclusive thread? Seems pointless to have PoE2 in with PoE1 when they are different games.
