Man, I'm not sure how to go forward atm. I just built a Life-stacking Energy Blade Penance Brand Inquis and I'm not really sure what's the most efficient way to scale this guy. Do I just stack STR? Life? Or do I stack crit multi? Hell, I even have like 7 gem sockets free for now.

This is uncharted territory since no build-makers have touched this yet. I've had to look at low-life and the pre-Breach life-stacking versions of Penance Brand Inquis, take inspiration from them, and then freestyle a lot because energy shield mods do literally nothing for me. POB doesn't support the build-enabling foulborn Ghostwrithe either which is why poe.ninja says I have 165k DPS when in reality, I'm around 6m DPS against non-uber pinnacles.

I'm aiming to destroy some ubers with this since that's my last personal gameplay objectives until my objectives become participating in the speculative market and making mirrors (not necessarily this league).

Might be retarded of me to ask, but what makes this better than "normal" Energy Blade builds with Ivory Tower (until you can go CI)? Or is it just to play a different variation of Energy Blade? I see people are still using Coruscating Elixir so it's not to get away from using that godforsaken thing. I've only ever played a CoC Energy Blade Eye of Winter Inquis, and I stacked strength and intelligence to ~1100 and reached almost 11k ES. It didn't "melt" ubers necessarily, but it killed them decently fast and wasn't super squishy.

The difference with this is you practically have zero prefix pressure since I don't need ES mods at all. Once I get enough currency to get better gear, the only generic prefixes that would matter are life, %life, and flat damage to spells. Can even use influenced mods to get 6-link non-body armour slots.

Also, the gear is still scuffed here but thanks to having a Rathpith, I have all the increased damage I could ever need and I'm already crit-capped. I don't have to use a Diamond Flask and can focus on defense more with flask selection.
 
could someone explain to me what's the deal with rings that have minion damage and negative lightning res? is it simply people with Doryani's who allocate Spiritual Aid? saw some of those rings listed for obscene prices though

also, unrelated, do mtx go on sale during specific periods or is it random? wanted to get some but if I can save a bit I'm happy

Half of the people on poe.ninja with Doryani's on are using Raise Spectre in a 5+ link. 60% of them are using Wraithlord helmet, so they're definitely using them as DPS. I wonder if a new good lightning mob has been discovered? because for the last couple leagues the best spectres have been cold-based as far as I remember.

might be just a remnant of previous leagues (as in, people found or crafted those without keeping up with the meta), if cold is the go-to.

I have little to no knowledge about minions, I have no idea if those rings are being sold, but for ones that don't have huge downsides like reduced minion atk/cast speed (if matters for your build) or negative life/other resistances, while also having high negative lightning and high minion damage (in the 90%s) I'm seeing prices like 20-60d and that shocked me a bit lol

AFAIK the only consistent MTX sale is the stash tab sale, which happens every 3 weeks and lasts for a whole weekend. poedb tracks this at the top of their page!
Other than that, the things that go on sale seem quite random. You can check the history of when MTX items were on sale here, like this Duck Pet Pack that's been on sale a lot, but with varying intervals. If the MTX you're looking for either has never been on sale or was last on sale in 2021, I wouldn't expect it to go on sale anytime soon.

I didn't know this, thanks! looks like the mtx I'm waiting for go on sale fairly consistently except for the hideout, for which dates look a bit random. though the prices are good enough for me!

on other news, the Great Dreamer has blessed me with a Foulborn Mageblood, instantly tripling my networth and then I divined it once to roll 4 flasks
 
I made 6 characters this league, the most I have made out of the 3 leagues of poe1/poe2 I have so far played, I had fun experimenting and trying out different stuff even though I say only 2 out of the 6 characters have worked. here is a list of characters I made for those who might care:

1st character/league starter: EB flicker strike of power assassin, was good until T16s, really tried to push him further but figured that I would need to invest way too much for little gain.

2nd character: viper strike of mamba assassin, really good clear obviously. started with the foulborn embalmer and then bought bino's when I had the money, problem is I had to be literally next to the mob to attack him because daggers have very short range, and I was squishy as hell so that would often mean I die trying to attack.

3rd character: exsang/cf/reap ele, tried to go meta with this one so I can start making efficient currency, however the whole concept of golems put me off and I didn't like it, only got her to lvl 85.

4th character: ward stacking smite slayer, found a cool build on youtube taking advantage of the olroth bloodline. but I found it hard to scale, you needed to scale ward because of a glove that scales flat chaos with ward, but scaling ward would mean to give up armour/evasion gear for ward gear which sucked defensively, also chaos clusters are expensive.

5th character: exsang/reap miner trickester, my most successful character, nothing much to say other than keeping up with the life costs of the spells was a bit hard, especially during boss fights

6th character (probably my favourite build so far): blood sacrament ascendant, also not much to say, just stack life and do giga damage and be tanky at the same time, really like this build and will probably try to 40/40 with it later.

I am probably going to take a break until the poe2 league and play that for a while before going back to poe1 to try doing the 40 challenges.
 
I didn't play nearly as much as I intended this league. Economy felt kinda bad and the main mechanic felt like a straight downgrade from old Breach. Still played more than I did in Necropolis, but it's probably my second least hours clocked of any league.
 
I dunno why I can't reply to @AntiMage post, but as someone who plays Viper Strike of Mamba, I think you're playing it wrong.
Vsom pairs best with Pathfinder ascendancy, and doesn't need any crit at all. Endgame builds of Vsom is very tanky, able to take the flaming balls of Uber exarch etc, and has almost infinite recovery from life flask.
You should check from the user called Deathbeam in poe discord, he makes the best Mamba builds.

Yeah, I really just wanted to make melee assassin work, but even after the rework he just sucks defensively, will definitely try mamba pathfinder in the future tho

And my opinion so far is that it is a disappointment, it's a new class that I am personally not interested in, plus a league mechanic (revamped incursion), there are some balance changes but none that interest me, this really feels like a post release patch and not an early access patch, I think I am skipping this one and will wait for 0.5.0. How do you guys feel about the patch?

I hated incursion but I do love the druid so I am going to try it out. I remember playing armageddon bear in diablo2 and so probably will try to build something like that. In previews it looks pretty good.
 
I'll try it out and see if the shape changing is like a better version of Hollow Palm (which was ok, but scaling fell off a lot and there's really only 1 skill you could use). Just want to see if they're going to continue to make every single skill clunky and annoying to play or if they're going to make it fun and smooth like POE1.
