Why did we all like the game so much? was it really because it was free and was fairly easy?t
For me it was because the world was such a joy to explore. I can remember being a f2p nub and going on pointless, but awesome adventures with my fellow noobs. I was at just the right age where I was too retarded to realize that I could make more money training any skill than trying to beg for money at banks for hours.

It's pretty neat how Runescape may be about to suffer a second downfall.

The first came from the adoption of surepticious AAA gaming methodology of the early 2010s (MTX, expanded corporate management, "Progress", "Innovation", "APPEAL")

The second from progressive fag dogma of the late 2010s.
("Fagma", if you will).

A case study in a seemingly faultless formula finding faults for itself.

Are there no independent thinkers left at Jagex?

R.I.P.

What does this add to the game?
Nothing of value. I'd argue it detracts
Did the player base ask for it?
No.

This is solely to enforce shit on people who want nothing to do with it.

It just really has that log in and you can do literally anything you want, there’s no bullshit lock outs like other mmos you can grind whatever you want to your hearts content, or do skills or play any of the many mini games (that level your skills) the pking isn’t too complex unless you’re a tribrid sweat.

It really has that something for everyone feel that’s really hard to get right

Poor Jagex.
Late to the woketard party, and all that's left on the buffet table is broken breadsticks, or sweaty room-temperature gorgonzola and pineapple skewers.
Given how the worm has been slowly turning, I can't see this move actually paying off in the long run.
Homophobic sentiment has been charted slowly rising these last few years, but the boardroom twerps are always waiting for their think-tanks to tell them what any bumblefuck on a street corner could tell them for free.
They won't stop trying to jam this down their throats 'til every cunt on the planet has developed an instant vomit reflex whenever they encounter a novel acronym.
Frankly, I feel bad for the woofters who aren't into the rainbow shite; the second-hand cringe must burn like lime.

I wish Jagex spent even a fraction of the time cracking down on bots as they do adding DEI bullshit.
There are accounts in the top 100 of Valcano that have 5 figure kill count with almost nothing else on them.

It's not just Zalcano. You can find them in Barrows

And of course Zulrah

I could go on, but I think the point is clear: there is a massive fucking bot problem, but Jagex continues to ignore it while adding stupid shit like pronouns.

its well within the spirit of the game to just create a gay little rainbow parade during gay pride month that just wanders around varrock screaming WE'RE HERE! WE'RE QUEER!!!! in those rainbow scrolling chat letters, and it would have some level of charm. but i guess this really isn't about gays its about trannies

osrs was a way me and the boys from high school could stay connected but I’m not playing a game that asks me for my pronouns

Why does every single fucking indie dev and or niche game dev do this? They jack off every single bad idea in the book and put it into the game regardless of what the player base thinks and ignore genuinely good ideas. It's a fucking pattern I see over and over again.
Guarantee its some progressive slush fund handing out huge ass checks quietly to push this shit.

3. Jagex has unleashed a universal account system that only works with their shitty launcher
Runelite natively supported linux and Just worked™. I remember in the early days of the jagex launcher you were just fucked if you were on linux, adding aids and herpes to your flatpak just to get the shit to work. Now you have to use this ugly launcher that looks like it is a web app, its still better than the previous wine+flatpak solution, though.

All because this apparently wasn't good enough for Jagex.

Does one have to be a super autist/code monkey to create a private server? I've wanted to make one for another dead game (Anarchy Online) but from my experience playing on a private WoW server it seems like something a non coder would have trouble with.

These types (liberal identity poltickers) are incapable of creating anything worthwhile, so they seek to destroy established art and culture. They flood established spaces and vandalize them with their obnoxious attitudes, with no desire to integrate. So sad to see this happen to RuneScape. Like others say, why not just play the gender you want to be? You can be virtually trans without making a fuss, but when that option is presented and it's not enough, we see that the "fuss" is actually the important part. These transfellows treat the internet, video games, and social media like the public square. They cry freedom of speech and political freedom just to deface people's prized escapist mediums. The sad and ironic part (for we who enjoy these mediums) is that this constant vandalism is due to the fact trans people do NOT go outside to the public square, so they apply their political rabies toward online spaces and media.

I used to love playing the Sims, because I like gayass games where you can do life shit. But the game has slowly been incorporating cross dressing, transition surgery scars, the removal of the words "Husband" and "Wife" , adding polyamory and normalizing it, and other shit. They also reverse whitewashed a ton of the characters. This is for "inclusivity" but what about the overwhelming majority of the population who want a "Husband" or "Wife"? And in RuneScape's case, what about the overwhelming majority of the fanbase who wants to play a game from 2007 and not experience 2020's politics and pandering? It's a fucking fantasy medieval game, remember in classic WoW when you picked Horde, you HAD to be a freakass monster? Did people complain they couldn't "represent" themselves as a fatass human? Integrate into the setting or fuck off.

My condolences to Null and his rage that the MMO he plays has been corrupted by the fag elite in Jagex. I do feel your rage....but I wonder what exactly prompted this?

Were those 22 years spent fighting the same boss?
lol that was Pandemonium Warden, the ultra boss of the 3rd expansion in 2006 or so. The only time XI was in mainstream news. It has since...not become a 'joke,' because it can still kill you, but a well prepared player can solo it.

That's actually one of the ways the game has survived, because they found ways to repurpose old content.

The most noteworthy point for the game (if you ask players) was actually the Salvage bans. People found a way to dupe rare drops in an event and Square-Enix knew, let it continue to happen, then banned 700+ players after investigating. Much hilarity ensued. Then there was another round of bans almost as bad as the first. lol

Your player character your way just reminded me of an obscure DS JRPG called My World, My Way. It was a rather meh type of game.
