How so? Is there some sort of energy restriction mechanism limiting play?

On topic, I'm glad that I irrevocably quit OSRS some years ago. Also, Mod TrAsh seems to be living up to that nickname of his.

BTW, @Null - there are still Classic Runescape private servers around (an even older version of the game), in case you were unaware.
Private servers are one thing but its probably best people keep at the forefront of their mind osrs clones (like previously mentioned 2009scape and vidyascape) since they don't require tons of manual shit to get set up and most of the time include additional custom launchers.

Sorry for nearly double posting, but none of you are safe. Doing this is pretty much as fun as actually playing RuneScape.
Makes me glad my RSN is totally separate from all my other online handles. Except for this one now lol
the only concern is jagex reading this thread, but i'm not aware of any times they've banned people for things they've said on third party websites
Same. The way I think it has the best chance of happening is if you go out of your way to be a complete dickhead to a popular OSRS personality or Jagex employee. Though way down in the official rules you'll find this paragraph:
"These rules are set out to cover the most common things which are banned. However, as all accounts belong to Jagex, we may choose to mute or ban an account for any reason at any time, even if that reason is not covered by these rules."
Though it's important to note that some of the rules aren't really enforced, such as sharing accounts.
Additionally, I also think that even if you have a heated gamer moment it only matters if there are other players around. I once tested which words were hard filtered in chat and never got hit, but the one time I called some spastic at LMS a fag I got a mute. First strike against my account ever, though it's expired now.

As an aside, I 'm genuinely impressed by the sleuthing on display. It's not that easy to find someone if you don't know their total XP or boss kill count.
What's your method of deduction?

I didn't even know about those - (un?)fortunately I'm not looking to get back into anything even remotely like OSRS.

I just knew about the classic stuff from others who quit the Jagex version.

They said everything will be put to vote. That means everything.
But hey you know what they say “If I had a nickel for everytime something that normally has a democratic due process in the year 2024 but instead was just forced upon the people, I would have two nickels” and such

Kinda funny that they had finally just taken the time to spin down their obviously almost completely dead Official RuneScape Forums earlier this year IIRC, which shit like this was the only time the forums got any activity anyway outside of clan recruiting and a few oldheads who'd been using them for like a decade or more. I got into all kinds of stupid ORSF drama back in the day but also made a few decent long-term friends there.

Anyway, playing on private servers isn't too difficult nor is setting up your own [to a basic functional state I don't know dick about safely opening it to other people, YMMV], plenty to choose from as well so if you really get the itch I can recommend it. I think I started playing RS around 2004-2005 and up until about 2013 would log in during holiday events just to collect the items, despite most of them being untradeable, with the occasional uptick in activity if one of my meatspace friends wanted to play it. Quit in 2013 due to "Evolution of Combat" which basically made it more like a WoW clone and I found the gay "spin the wheel for prizes and buy keys!" shit quite odious as well.

Considered starting on OSRS when it first launched but at that time I was extremely fucking busy and the prospect of not being able to transfer my main over and having to start over dissuaded me, so I never got around to it and when I finally did get the itch I just played on a private server with 100x XP rates because I have a fucking job now and can't neckbeard out for days at a time to grind. At least my memories of it can never be tainted. Getting in shit constantly for playing RuneScape in the computer lab at school, playing with one of my friends in like 2006 and luring his noob little brother into the wilderness and then giving his stuff back after he'd freaked out enough over it, etc. The game really was almost purpose-built to run on shitty hardware too so it was very accessible for us poors at the time or just people who's parents refused to buy a new PC because "there's nothing wrong with the old one!". I remember a friend of mine absolutely wrecking the family PC at home because he downloaded a mouse cursor that looked like a dragon scimitar and it installed a bunch of toolbars and porn pop-up adware.

Good times, troons have to ruin everything because they are malignant narcissists, but they can't taint our memories. I hope they all eat shit along with their enablers.

good way to decide who to cull from our clan
wating for the auto-block/ignore rl plugin

There are also several other year versions of RuneScape revivals, but I'm fairly certain this one is the furthest along. It, at the very least, is a logical place to restore the game: right before the release of Dungeoneering.
Dungeoneering is based(even on its hilariously buggy release) and if you don't like it you're Al-Kharinge.

It's only when people started treating it like a job and tried to find "efficient" ways of power leveling it versus just enjoying procedural generated mini-dungeons with the bros that it becomes a boring and tedious chore, and behold in OSRS they made The Gauntlet which is Dungeoneering made by world class faggots who need to min max and efficiency everything because having fun is for weenies.
  • relatively end game content on account of if needing a bunch of annoying and high level skill requirements
  • can only be solo'd because group content in an MMO is for idiots apparently
  • has strict timers so you can't fuck around with it
  • no incentive for actually taking your time with it, reading the lore books, enjoying all the at the time new and visually distinct content(this was before everything got a graphics update to look like wish.com WoW, having tier'd gear that actually looked different every time you went up a tier was cool because it was inside Daemonheim and having regular old steel gear look all edgy and aestheticmaxxed looks fucking retarded) or all the new bosses and enemies with their own mechanics(fuck that one that needed ice physics from the christmas events)

Is there anything that could reasonably be done to stop this from further worsening? I don't really give a shit about the pronouns being added but if I get punished for misgendering some tranny in osrs I'm gonna flip the fuck out.

Tranny faggots are always rewriting history. First it was planting dilators in archaeological sites, then it was claiming that Nazis in the 30s persecuting them for no reason (what books did they burn???) then it was rewriting established IP characters, and now it’s inserting faggot shit into a fucking MMORPG from the 90s.

I can’t reply to the guy who hopes trannies & their enablers eat shit, but that ain’t enough. I want all of them to eat 00 buckshot like Cobain did

Idk to me doesnt Mod Ash’ face sorta scream that guy that’s got some other dark stuff going on when he’s not being poster boy mod for Jagex.. or do pudgy fat British men just look like that? He also kind of just stares sometimes intensely iiirc from watching past q&as
i'm no longer confident in my read on him but i think it's just a bit of the 'tism, he's always been a quirky weirdo but he seems the innocent sort of weirdo to me. he plays classical music, he's part of an orchestra in cambridge, and when you see him in his suit with his violin he doesn't actually look like a weirdo to me like he does in normal clothes—he just looks like a fat classical music nerd. idk, you be the judge.

also, i've seen this come up a couple of times in this thread: you can reply to posts that have broken reply/quote buttons by copying the reply link from a post the buttons work on and replacing the post id in the url with the post id from the anchor link on the broken post

I don't understand the whole condemnation for people who have a different childhood then others. We're all delusional apes. Outside of sleep, sex, gathering food, and general survival everything is objectively optional for our species. I played runescape in middle school on a library laptop. This game was a very good time and I still look fondly on those memories. I wasn't big into osrs personally yet I'd rather people have their game they invested in.

Folks are on kiwifarms, a gossip forum about people being insane/degenerate. You can't be on this forum and same moment shit on people who played a video game and lament what it's became. Everything is subjective, moral superiority is for insecure faggots since your likes are faggy to someone else like how runescape is faggy to you.

As an aside, I 'm genuinely impressed by the sleuthing on display. It's not that easy to find someone if you don't know their total XP or boss kill count.

Just autistic elbow grease. Your plugin that shows level progress and virtual levels helped. I picked your herblore level, which is very close to 92. I found the spot on the list where 92 ends and 91 begins and just opened every player down. It didn't take very long at all.

It's funny, I wanted to get back into playing osrs a little just 2 days ago after ~3 years break, then I saw this news. I can neither liquidate my high value items for a bond, nor afford it on my iron man since the price tripled since I last played and I really don't want to give jagex money now. Here's a hi-res, finely crafted image of my oldest account. Started playing in classic. Screenshot_20240816_082813_Gallery.jpg
