I knew a lot of people who played RuneScape when I was growing up, and some of them used it to cope with things like broken homes, not having much money etc. Putting things like this very suddenly in a long established MMO will only put targets on the heads of people who participate. You can anonymously tell strangers online you are whatever gender you please, but you have to go well out of your way to specify that you're a transsexual in a game where that has absolutely no bearing on the gameplay. Why not have every player's username state their stance on the Ruso-Ukraine war or their religious affiliation while you're at it?

omfg I was struggling to think of how this would interact with a quest because they didn't mention it.

Sir Leye is a knight of Merlin and in a specific miniquest for Recruitment Drive you have to defeat him. He says "No man can defeat me!" which is the hint you have to go to the Makeover Mage and change your character's sex to female to do damage to him. They changed that to "no blade may harm me" and you just can't use a sword. Just use any non-bladed weapon.

So I was immediately thinking how they're going to implement sex for that miniquest only to discover they had already fagged it up years ago. They just can't stop being gay retards.
This change was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, and I was just writing a post about it. RuneScape's strength, the only thing that makes it worth playing over any other festering pile of number addict MMO slop, are the quests. Quests in RuneScape are actually substantial and not just "Kill X, collect Y, deliver to Z". They're unique, the writing is interesting, the puzzles are challenging, and the rewards you get are often game-changing. Removing this puzzle in particular was especially heinous because it is one that I would regularly cite as the most ingenious puzzle in the game, requiring you to utilize what was previously thought of as just a superfluous cosmetic service (the Makeover Mage). This change was a spit in the face to everything that the game stood for, everything that made it as beloved and successful as it was, and it spells dire consequences for the future of the game.

I'm not gonna urge anyone to stop playing because I know MMO is the genre of addicts, but please god at least buy bonds off the GE instead of funding the game with your own money, because every cent you give them will only be used to tear down the game that you love.

Why does every single fucking indie dev and or niche game dev do this? They jack off every single bad idea in the book and put it into the game regardless of what the player base thinks and ignore genuinely good ideas. It's a fucking pattern I see over and over again.
Because the game industry is run by Jews and Homosexuals.
One week romhacks, this week runescape

What are they going to ruin next?
Everything. Remember that nothing good ever happens and everything only ever gets worse, so the queers and troons will eventually ruin the entire world and there won't be anywhere left to get away from them. TTD.
Absolutely based. You have no rights and you have no freedoms with non-free software. You will gobble whatever shit they stuff down your throat and you will be happy. Whenever you use non-free software you live on borrowed time before you inevitably get fucked in the ass by your software vendor.
Most of the free software is also POZ. There Are No /OurDevs/. None.

Because all indie devs are trannies or some other flavor of genderqueer nowadays
They aren't but the marketing cabal is so unless you already happen to keep an ear to the ground, you probably won't hear much about normal ones. I mean, it was a decade ago now, but without streamers, FNAF would've been another forgotten indie game from an objectively non-gaytranny developer.

I don't even play Runescape and I'm disheartened. Why do these fucktards ruin everything?
Like, genuinely, why? They don't even play the games they ruin. DEI pandering is never good enough for these soulless fucks.

troonery is a disease

it doesn't touch just your favorite YouTuber that you used to watch back elementary who later also turns into a pedo

but your favorite fucking form of entertainment too: video games, tv shows, whatever

this pride shit and its acceptance is political, but a lot of fucking series, movies and games lately felt the need to put politics into their shit and I'm tired of it. if I wanna watch politics I'll just watch CNN or whatever, not wanting it shoved down my throat in a fucking game where I'm just trying to get my mind off things

Because they're in a culture where other developers and companies and people around the game industry are in a constant pressure battle to make others conform to their beliefs and not piss other people off.

You won't put the flag in your game because it breaks worldbuilding? Why you might just be...
  • Uninvited to an important event
  • Told a studio won't collaborate with you for a lucrative contract unless you add the flags
  • Get bullied and badgered by other developers
  • Have 50 smear articles written on you (which I don't think anyone reads but the point is that they exist)
  • Have streamers turn their nose up at the game to gain goodboy activism points
  • Have employees whine or quit in protest, becoming a headache for PR but at least they're fucking gone
  • Might jeopardize you if you ever work in a different portion of the industry and HR decideds you didn't bow down enough
  • JageX is in the UK, there's probably some law someone could sue them with if they don't
It's not always because they're true believers, it's because they are bandwagon hoppers or are trying desperately not to burn bridges in the insular gaming industry. It doesn't always work and usually ends up annoying players, but it's the company saving itself from total industry cancelation.

The person who made Sea Shanty 2 is a convicted child rapist.
Harvey Weinstein funded all of Quentin Tarantinos films. Doesnt matter, Im still gonna like them. If Null can like Sea Shanty 2 enough to play it on his streams, I can like it too.
Basically the Chinatown argument. Roman Polanski was a pedophile, but Chinatown is a good movie. It's okay to like Chinatown and liking Chinatown doesn't amount to approval of Polanski.

Anyway as far as the protests go what if we all got monk robes and Holy Symbols then went around preaching Saradomin's disdain for faggots? For example if you see anyone doing fag shit you follow them and call them ro repent.

I should have dropped my membership once they started censoring retard regardless of profanity filter toggle. I'll be honest, should have seen this shit coming after they decided to make "modern audience modernization" unpolled with shit like fag scarves and the "Diversity and Inclusion update" (no joke, that was the actual name). This game already has problems with being an MMO, it's been drained of most social features and may as well be a single player experience at this point. Forcing players to walk on eggshells because a troon might be in render distance is just going to make that worse.
The last time I talked about Runescape online, I brought up how the unpolled updates have increased in volume, pointing out how many fag updates we've gotten. Some retard retorted with "but none of that stuff affects the game". Even the people who don't care about gay shit in the game need to realize that the scope of unpolled updates had only become more broad. When they decide that the fuckin' Squeal of Fortune somehow fits under the ever-widening scope of unpolled changes, the entire community that sat on their ass and downplayed will be getting exactly what they asked for.
I'm actually glad this was featured, I forgot that I had a membership on auto renew, and would have kept paying these deviants if I hadn't seen this thread.

Net positive = enabling freaks

Lol ok
"How does this affect you personally?"

Serious question, can the damage done by the collective gaslighting/frog boiling of troonism (be it actual transitioning, non-binary shit being mainstream or pronouns being mandatory in media) ever be undone? I don't feel like it can, even with the pendulum starting to swing back a bit. People seem to just accept that shit was a laughing stock 10-15 years ago is now tolerable.

Someone is out there fighting the good fight in enemy territory.

Of course they look like that. Who else would do it for free?

Is there not a quest where your character has to be female, or magically change sex, so that they can kill a boss that "no man can defeat"? How do they work that one out when changing your character's sex is so super dysphoria inducing?
Edit: late and transsexual

I'm too greedy to understand why anybody ever does this stuff because it obviously is going to cause problems and possibly hurt the bottom line, and yet they do it anyway. It's almost admirable in a way that they care so much about pushing their beliefs onto others they do not care about the risk of losing significant portions of the player base and thus significant money. It's too bad said beliefs are stupid, gay, and woefully detrimental to society. They obviously knew this was going to cause problems too because they didn't run the damn poll.

Hate to see when gatekeeping fails. It's only a matter of time before people start to host their own private server instance from a copy of the version they enjoyed.
I'm shocked people haven't done that already.

Or have they?

That's what a lot of people did to re-experience original WoW. Still do, even after WoW Classic was launched. Blizzard threw a legal shitfit at first, but then many of the private servers were moved to Russia and Blizzard couldn't do shit.

I've tried playing as a chick in RPGs before. It was interesting for maybe a day or two. Not enough to commit to an entire playthrough.
Are you role playing a woman in the game?
That's a key difference. I have rolled many many Night Elf females in WoW (the models are just better looking than the male ones) but never on an RP server. That's just... weird.

Over the years, I've seen this with many, many things that I hold fond memories of. At a certain point, I've found it's best to just cut my losses once things have reached the point of unrecognizability and becomes something else entirely. Let the memories exist as memories instead of trying to maintain that connection.

Just ask my mother.
