I wouldn't be bothered by this if it wasn't for Tumblr who has made it absolutely certain Usopp has to be depicted as black or you're racist.

I wanna remain cautiously optimistic because unlike what's happened with Cowboy Bebop in Sunrise not getting involved, Toei (Shonen Jump as well, I think) is notoriously controlling about how One Piece should go (particularly with who was to voice the Straw Hats). 4KIDS' dub was a disaster, but you also have to keep in mind that every little edit that was done to it was officially approved of by Toei themselves, and Oda apparently wasn't pleased with how it went since it nearly killed interest in the States on top of fucking with the story. They wouldn't want to make that mistake again, and the fans wouldn't let them live it down, either.

Best to play it by ear.

Oda did say African for Usopp and while I would argue that he and Zoro's complexions are interchangeable I am not so fixated on Usopp's ethnicity that it matters to me.
The more important question is whether or not we can ask for Morgan Freeman to do some lines for older Godsopp now while he is still alive.

Personally I think it's doomed to failure. It's a live action version of an anime series that murdered physics and biology early in its run and only kept chemistry alive to let Ceaser Clown use it to beat a bunch of characters. It's being done by Netflix which means we're getting Dawson creek casting mixed with "which politics are in on social media right now? Them, do them!"

At best it'll do what the last Bleach movie or that Hero Academia fan series did and give us some decent live action effects that people can appreciate.

Get over it, the beautiful real woman daughter of kaido is a woman and anyone whose been reading the manga knew that from the get go. You faggots have ivankov and they were actually a fun character during the marineford arc.

Remember that this is twitter we are talking about, they dont want the parody shit looking characters. They want characters that can feed their delusions.

That reminds me, I love how Ivankov can take a beautiful female form that feeds their delusions, but chooses not to most of the time. Actually being comfortable with their body and identity is probably a shock to these twitter weirdos. Ivankov is self actualized, a real man, a true queen, and carries Dr Frank-N-Furter's spirit but with a strong moral core, something these twitter people, trans or cis, can never accomplish.
 
Finally remembered who seething Yamatofags remind me of: seething Persona 4 fans who insist Kanji is explicitly gay and Naoto is absolutely trans and that Atlus "ruined" the characters by portraying them the way they did as 2 people struggling with their identity based on how society viewed them...just like most of the characters in P4.

The entitlement of these people is amazing to watch. "The creators of this character ruined them so I'm gonna fix it for them with my shitty art of then holding pride flags :D" Just let best girl Yamato be best girl Yamato and calm down lol
