Huh, Saori Hayami wasn't quite whom I would think would be Yamato (I was thinking Mutsumi Tamura, Mitsuki Saiga, or Maaya Sakamoto).

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Morley is an onee like Bentham, and that Kiku is the only trans woman in One Piece (Iva-chan is Iva-chan; let's just leave it at that).

Edit: I checked pixiv dictionary; Morley is a man with the personality and mannerisms of a high school girl. To call him trans should actually be insulting to trans women, but I guess it's validating to ugly, half-assed fetishists and attention whores, i.e. the people who are mad about Yamato being cis.

Well, on Something Awful's One Piece thread, there were quite a few who found them to be insulting stereotypes. Someone even brought up, of all things, BLACK PANTHER as a way to positively portray a different culture.

...I have a feeling that person may have been a non passing tranny who's mad that those 3 can legit pull off both genders.

...and that's around the time I noped out of visiting that site regularly. They also kept calling Sanji a transphobe for not accepting them blindly. Well, gee, I can't imagine why he'd feel that way after he got yeet'd to their island and seperated from his friends, got the shit kicked out of him till he wore a dress and adopted their mannerisms and only got snapped out of it when he saw news of what happened to Luffy in the meantime.

Then, in order to get off the island, he had to get beaten up by their queen and then 100 of their strongest for two full years with the caveat that if he lost, he'd be turned into one of them...which is against his pride as a man.

No, I can't imagine why he'd feel at least some hostility at all...if anything he's been as polite as can be and thanked Ivankov and the others. He's just not in a big hurry to see them.

Brook has been nothing but an absolute unit these past couple arcs. All I need now is a classic pre time skip Usopp one on one fight and this arc will be truly kino.

I am baffled by how people thought that Yamato was going to be be trans. I get it, the amount of desperate grabbing at straws that occurs is extensive but surely a moment's thought could have told them they were setting themselves up for disappointment.

Also FUCK Arturo's "Oda is to blame." No, eat a thousand dicks and enjoy the enraged posting you have to deal with. It's no less than you deserve for trying to casually toss the creator under the bus because idiots are idiots.

I thought Arturo was being decent about people pushing narratives to fit their headcanon or political agenda, until I read that part. Oda writes for Japanese people who get it easily, not smelly westerners. It's up to translators to get the point across, and apparently he was king at pushing the trans angle. Now he wants to wash his hands of the shit storm he created. Still one of the biggest faggots in the community I see.

Maybe it's because I don't hang around in the OP community or these tranny communities, but it seemed pretty clear to me that Yamato was the "loony fan, but in a positive light." Someone so in love with a character that they want to be them in both name and body. Nowhere near the same as being trans.
 
Can't reply to you directly Slimy Time but I agree. Most of what Arturo is posting is fair and well reasoned but that unhesitant desire to blame Oda is scummy. Like Basil Fawlty blaming his Spanish waiter scummy. "It's his fault, he's from Barcelona."

I don't muck around with the communities either but I was aware of the "Yamato is trans" crowd. And I was skeptical because as saner posters said it was always about Oden, not about a male identity. Yamato is not a bad character but deciding they were male because of an obsession was like declaring someone gay because they were obsessed with one specific person of the same gender as them. It was an over simplification and destined to end poorly.

I won't care about it. And I am posting on Kiwi Farms so I am in the company of people with the same attitude. But seeing some shitty human whose main rep is due to an author try to throw that same author to the wolves is contemptible. I know Oda won't care, I know the cancel mob will never register on his radar, but they still are shits and Arturo enabling them puts him on their level.

Between this and how up his own ass he is with his place in the fandom (read; his reverie fancomic, his claim that he has a better grasp on jap than viz or stephen paul (the fandom's go to translator before viz stole him), his dumbass now unlisted 20-minute video in which he "analyzed" yamato until he said she was a he, etc) it's a safe bet that his sickness was about as real as Chris's chances of going to Everfree Northwest, and that he didn't want to admit he was getting tired of doing shit.
