Usopp expanding his titles again it seems.
Also more info to make the trannies seethe.
Weird how I can reply to you in this comment, but not the one where you tagged me.
The Yamato flashback seems to make it clear why Kaido goes with "my son" before the reveal. Oh you want to be called "Oden," well if you survive for a month in this cave with people who would like to kill you, I might entertain that idea. Also makes it clear that since Yamato wants to be "Oden," then killing you is fair game. Other than that, they called her the Oni Princess, so clearly female.

Naturally. And no break next week. I'd always known Oda is fueled by the tears of his audience but I did not realise outrage he was unaware of served to push him on too.

Yep, same scenario not for me where I can quote/reply this post, I've seen people posit theories elsewhere about what's causing it but it seems to be another symptom of the ongoing tech issues determined to cause Null to rip out their hair. I could also not be a lazy ass and go check the correct section of the forum to find out why.

It's very much a case of making his own monster. Had Kaido just screamed "reading's for nerds!" and gotten rid of the book Yamato would have likely ended up dead due to some other instance of parental failure but instead he dropped her in a cave with a bunch of positive role models who solidified a childish fascination into something closer to reverence for Oden. A nice touch, pinch of extra tragedy to the story and rounded out the chapter which also gave us shots of various crew members outside of the big 3 getting shit done. And confirmed that the fire appears to be spreading because at this point I suspect they're going to destroy the entire place before they leave.

Question is what we're getting next chapter. More of this current fight, a shift to some of the others going down or something else. I'm veering towards it being some more of the Kid/Killer combats since the two are intertwined and Oda will probably try to wrap them up before the fights featuring Zoro, Sanji or Luffy. But then again given it's Big Mom it's possible Kid might get higher billing than the Yellow/Green vs Queen/King.

Another aspect of that doesn't appear to have been mentioned but was highlighted:
Yamato went into that cave fully expecting to be killed for being Kaido's daughter, and this was right after Oden was executed. Instead, the daimyos allowed her the only food that was available, with Ushimaru subtly acknowledging how fucked up the situation was. I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that after Oden's death someone finally acknowledged was that harming someone based off of their lineage was not a good thing, given that it fueled the rise of Orochi.

I wonder if he even knew she had the book, given that it is his Personal Log of his journey to Raftel Kaido would have taken it just to read.

It pretty much has to have some details about the history of the world.

Also Kaido Screaming "NEEEEEEEEEEEERDDDDDDDDDDDDDD" would be entirely in character for him.

Will they turn Nami and Robin into flat chested NAMBLA bait like they did to Faye Valentine?

I would say tune in to find out but LOL-NO

Apologies, the quote bug is striking again.

That's kind of been a recurring theme in One Piece and honestly I am surprised that the fishman island arc did not set off a bigger Twit-plosion but that was a few years ago now.

Oda's story is pretty big on not having the whole sins of the father thing on the good guys front. Kaido's mindset was "these guys will hate you and kill you because you're my child. That's what I would do in their shoes." As actual heroic sorts they were instead pretty heavily on not holding someone responsible for the sins of the father or generally doing assholish things because revenge was all they had left.

In a similar way the nicer sorts on Fishman island clearly never forgave humans as a whole for what they went through but they used that to justify informed caution as opposed to Hody and crew who pretty much say "nah we were never directly impacted but fuck it, good excuse to justify shitty actions right?" and went hog wild.

The one foe Kaido could never overcome illiteracy.

With the importance of the Poneglyphs you would think he'd not be above noseying into books but its entirely possible he just sauntered straight past some info there.

Please no...
If they are going to go woke, can they at least put Oda's preferred nationalities from his SBS in as the characters. Luffy played by a Brazilian, Zoro by a Japanese etc.
Good news! (I'd swear I saw other sources carrying but can't find them now. Might be fake)

Luffy is described as a 17-year-old Brazilian man. The lead protagonist, he has big dreams, an eagerness for adventure, and a desire for whatever treasures he can get his hands on. Luffy is driven by his youthful enthusiasm and uninhibited optimism, combined with his raw desire for success, Luffy is fated to be a leader despite being unproven.

Luffy wishes for family and his infectious optimism helps him turn strangers into fast friends, inspiring them to follow him. His moral virtue and steadfast beliefs clash with the corrupt system clinging to the past. Luffy will start a legacy with his quest to create change, but first he must defeat enemies from the past and present.

Zoro is described as an 18-year-old Asian man. A gifted fighter wandering through life and in need of encouragement and direction. Zoro gets through life doing whatever passionless or questionable work is available no matter how distasteful, as long as it puts money in his pockets. His main interests are his weapons and a stiff drink with no interest in small talk. However, with his crew behind him and trials ahead Zoro will find the urge to prove himself the greatest of all.

According to our sources Netflix has shown interested in Ludi Lin for the role of Zoro. Zoro is one of the best fighters, a swordsman, on Luffy’s pirate crew in the manga and anime series which would mean Ludi Lin’s martial arts training would be especially useful. Lin is best known to fans for his role in the 2017 Power Rangers reboot as Zack Taylor the Black Ranger and Liu Kang in the 2021 Mortal Kombat film. Lin not only has extensive martial arts training that would come in handy should he become Zoro in One Piece, he is also able to infuse his roles with pathos and comedy finding a way to balance the two in an impressive manner. However, it’s unclear if formal talks have begun, or if there is interest from Lin’s camp at this time.
Nice casual racism there Netflix. Literally "all Asians look alike" with that requirement for any Asian actor. That said the alleged potential choice is 33. And Canadian so he should be playing Chopper really.

Bad news! (Swedish and French respectively).
Nami is listed as 19 years old and open to any ethnicity. Described as a lone wolf who likes it that way. She moves quicker on her own and never lets anyone get too close. Normally the smartest in the room she doesn’t take direction well and would rather create her own path. Driven by her own desire for exploration Nami will stop at nothing to achieve her goal. Nami is sardonic and sarcastic using her tough exterior to hide the pain in her past. Nami keeps her cards close to the vest, but a secret being revealed threatens to destroy everything she’s worked for.

Sanji is listed as 19 years old and open to any ethnicity. Described as flawlessly dressed and charmingly flirtatious Sanji believes that how one presents themselves to the world differentiates the average from the exceptional. Nothing is too rich for Sanji as long as one finds pleasure from it. He does not take criticism lightly. Sanji is always learning and evolving, but he is in need of a push to find the next adventure that can bring new experiences and inspirations into his life.
"Charmingly flirtatious." Uh huh.

Usopp news (Oda's SBS said African for him but you did not mention that)

Usopp is described as a 17-year-old Black man. Usopp is an inventive storyteller and hopeless romantic. Although his mouth tends to get him into trouble his tales of adventure hide his cowardice. Usopp is an innovative problem solver and has a technical mind that helps him escape numerous sticky situations.

The Chapter isn’t even out yet, but all I see are clouded spoilers about this one moment in the spoilers.

If she were a furry she would sit in fur mode 24/7.

She just got force fed a furry fruit.
she was force fed nothing, kaido was hiding that shit and she ate it to avoid starving to death, not knowing what she was getting herself into

I sure hope Oda is getting a payday here. How much does Netflix need to pay the One Piece youtubers to make them push whatever shit they finally push out.

When Nami turns out to be a freckle faced mixed race actress with a fro and no figure will the japanese neets do a chyna vtuber level attack on Netflix.

"Usopp is described as a 17-year-old Black man."

I wouldn't be bothered by this if it wasn't for Tumblr who has made it absolutely certain Usopp has to be depicted as black or you're racist.

I wanna remain cautiously optimistic because unlike what's happened with Cowboy Bebop in Sunrise not getting involved, Toei (Shonen Jump as well, I think) is notoriously controlling about how One Piece should go (particularly with who was to voice the Straw Hats). 4KIDS' dub was a disaster, but you also have to keep in mind that every little edit that was done to it was officially approved of by Toei themselves, and Oda apparently wasn't pleased with how it went since it nearly killed interest in the States on top of fucking with the story. They wouldn't want to make that mistake again, and the fans wouldn't let them live it down, either.

Best to play it by ear.
