She uses them for her cartography, mostly.

Fuck netflix and fuck giving them any sort of validation to their slop even if it seems decent for once. Also, don't forget Mandalorian or Witcher (yes I know it's other networks but they all do the same retarded shit), these fucks love ruining following seasons when they see them as successful outlets to jam their propaganda.

Now on to what fucking matters, the manga. What a banger of a chapter pour one for Sentomaru for being a motherfucking chad. Lucci is a faggot and I hope Zorro makes quick work of him and was definitely not expecting a Luffy vs Kisaru so quick.

I mean Egypt is in Africa and they aren’t black…. Even if Netflix says otherwise. Besides I always that Usopp should be that type of brown, middle eastern, Arab type, not African nigger. Considering Arab cultures and Egypt have rich history’s of storytelling and mythology it makes sense for Usopp…. What story’s and great myths do African niggers have? Nothing, it’s why if they weren’t slaves and no one ever bothered to interact with them they all probably would’ve been eaten by Lions by now lol.

Egypt is a mixture of middle easterner, mediterranean european, and regular old african black, all of these groups have had major influence at one point or another in Egypt's history.

Also look at Ussop's lips.

As for Africans not having any myths.... Now that's just not fucking true.

African's have tons of myths.

Sango, Anansi, the Grootslang... Fuck there is literally a west indies deity called "Joy Boy" that is believed to have come over with african slaves.

There are undoubtedly more, but I'm white as hell and not an expert in african mythology, so I would not know them.

I will give it this.

It has raised the Bar for live action anime adaptations.

That may sound super impressive.... But remember that The Bar was previously somewhere in earth's mantle.

Still, it's done better than all other live action anime has been.
Oh 100%. I know that as you say the bar is incredibly low but honestly just the first episode alone did that. Even if they cratered after that they still did something pretty damn incredible. I refuse to say I got chills but the Rodger execution was a lot better than the trailers. I do need to rewatch that with the Japanese cast doing the voice work.

Thanks, I thought she might but I also looked at them alongside the dyed hair and started getting major hipster vibes.

I am certain if they get a second season it will be worse unless Oda turns up on set with a machine gun. Like you say though, we've got a manga too which should be more important.

Lucci vs Zoro could be fun. I don;t know about Luffy/Kizaru. For all the "we're 100x stronger" Kizaru still walked multiple crews on his own back then without any indication of effort. I don't want to see the danger admirals pose undermined but I am curious to see how Oda does it this time round. Kizaru should not be spanking Luffy as easily as he did Sentomaru.

Please don’t act like you didn’t have to google that you fag lol. Also extra fuck off because Egypt is fucking a part of Africa, so they are Africans so fuck off.

I honestly think, that aside from the bizarre and weird story directions they're taking this show; it feels like One Piece in live action. I know that sounds retardedly obvious, but I mean it's just absolutely soaked in an aesthetic that truly does seem like One Piece in real life. Maybe I just like the manga too much and it's bleeding through, but I think that it genuinely looks like it's a real place; that just happens to be in a fantasy world filled with pirates and marines.
It's genuinely irritating me just how much I'm enjoying this.

Oh, but Buggy fucking sucks though. I really, really do not like what they have done with him; because I really like Buggy. This is not Buggy, it's some guy that has been told Buggy is a clown and also funny; but he's never really seen Buggy in the anime or Manga. So far that's my biggest gripe. Fishmen don't look great, but they do look good makeup design wise. Arlong is ... an interesting character so far, and I kinda wanna see where they go with it, because he's not awful. He matches the spirit of how much an utter cunt Arlong is, even if he's missing out on some of the specifics.

The trailers made it feel like the guy playing Buggy was trying to hard. Also it’s nice they aren’t screwing up Arlong, though I can’t get over how bad their costumes look to me. He doesn’t look like a Fishman, or a man shark. He looks like a weird spiked turd lol.

Yeah the costumes are wild lol. I think the issue is that they just are shredded enough. Because Arlong should be completely yoked. But the actor portrays Arlong as pretty charismatic, fun, and also entirely psychotic in every way. Which is really the exact way that Arlong was. Which is nice.
Everyone involved is trying so very dammed hard lol. Which for some works great; but for others really does not.

I think the Buggy problem is we all know where their inspiration is coming from. We can see the Jared Leto or the Heath Ledger and I think it's hard for the actor and writers not to do that. The character is not the Joker but when writing him in live action people go there swiftly.

Also, incredibly whiney and minor bitching that contains a spoiler for episode 4 could they really not find age appropriate actors for young Kuina and Zoro so it was her half a foot over him rather than the other way around?

Question for you since your watching it, is Don Krieg in it? I didn’t notice him in the trailers and I remember reading that they shoved Arlong into the Baratie arc.

Yeah, yeah he is.
For exactly 53 seconds. Arlong replaces him entirely; which is weird since Gin is kept in.

I didn't have to google that, because I'm not an idiot and actually read books other than anime and manga sometimes.

Excuse the fuck out of me?!?! How do you do that? I know some people might not agree with me but I always felt like Don Krieg was just as important as Arlong in terms of Luffy proving himself to enter the Grand Line. Luffy beating a schemer, fake, blowhard of a captain like Krieg was such a big moment for Luffys character. Don Krieg was also one of my favorite early fights, and honestly I think it’s better than Arlong. Luffy beat Arlong pretty quick once the water problem was settled, but Krieg was a trickster and it was fun seeing Luffy just destroy him.

Yeah. Mihawk just kills him in less than a minute; they never meet Luffy. It's during the same scene where Garp calls up Mihawk and asks him to go after Luffy personally. Which is also wild since I didn't realise that Garp wanted Luffy fucking dead.
There are some very odd choices in story regarding who they show, and what they cut. The Baratie arc is compressed down to basically one episode, where Arlong arrives to replace Krieg, beats up Luffy, and tosses him in the ocean. Serving as just a way to introduce Namis betrayal.

EDIT: They're showing Coby and Helmeppo undergoing their timeskip character arcs during the show as well, which is also weird. They turned Coby into a twink as well lol.

That sounds really stupid and why would Garp do that? That makes no sense and Garp never seemed like the person who liked the Warlord system in the first place, let alone ask one to attack his grandson. Also why would Garp even know, there’s nothing Luffy did at the start that anyone at his level would even hear or care about lol.

It's there to introduce you to the idea of the warlord system; so that Coby can act outraged at it, so that he and Helmeppo can have character development together and become closer friends.

Avoiding prior posts but this kind of needs to go here. Because a Netflix series in 2023 got to use this dialogue.

Kuina "You'll surpass me in size, strength and speed. Eventually you'll surpass me in everything. That's nature. I'm small now and fast. But soon all the boys will get taller and stronger. Their arms will be longer than mine. Don't you get it? Girls can beat boys but no woman can beat a man."

Now technically that monologue was interrupted at times. But never contradicted.
