Slightly related, I have been seeing a lot of social media posts that are like "Oh, One Piece is political and Luffy wouldn't like Trump and right wingers don't understand that they're like the WG and not like the straw hats! Trump is like a celestial dragon!"

Yes, One Piece has political themes. Anyone with a brain can see that. I am tired of these western left wing fucks shitting up everything I love with their preachy bullshit and their obsession with Trump.

Complaint aside, Whole Cake Island is pretty good so far. The pacing seems better than Dressrosa's but I still have ways to go.

I guess you gotta get him props for that. He’s always been meticulous about what he does, and I can’t complain too muchabout how the reveal was done.

Although I do have to wonder if him not drawing things out is because 1. Oda has said that he’s trying to go at a another gear in order to reach the end because of age and a need to focus on his health (he had his eye procedure during Egghead but I don’t think he’s had anything that dire before or since, so it’s not like the guy is questioning his morality), and/or 2. He doesn’t want the bigger questions of the lore and the story until they’re manifested through the actions of Luffy, Robin learns of those bigger things regarding the lore, Zoro fights Mihawk Mano a Mano at last, or a Straw Hat has a panel displaying their dream becoming reality. The first one regarding Luffy is the one Oda is most adamant about not happening too early IMO, but all the other ones aren’t far behind.

Not complaining , but it seems deliberate and planned even beyond what most creators would do, even if that’s not really the case and Oda just wings something or only puts something in because his editor brought it up.

I feel like I'm the only one that never even considered the person at Mary Geoise wasn't actually Shanks. Granted I really hated the "evil twin" theory and more than that the "evil Shanks" theory. I'm still skeptical about Shamrock but I'll see how Oda plays it out fully.

How old was he when he was in the treasure chest? That may give us our answer if he could form coherent memories back then.
