There's so much news about North Korea right now and what Un is doing, I got a suggestion for a NK megathread, so here it is. Post the world's greatest nation's antics here. I'm merging a few of the more recent threads to continue discussion.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has pushed for a new plan for a rapid war with North Korea and an overhaul of the country's defense industry to overwhelm and crush the North's government, the South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo reported Tuesday.

Moon took office in May promising to attempt to engage diplomatically with North Korea and seek peace, but in the months since, the North has provoked the international community with missile tests at a blistering pace.

For some time, South Korea has been training a "decapitation force," reportedly with the help of the US Navy's SEAL Team 6, but now an increasingly bold North Korea may demand quicker action.

South Korea's new plan identifies more than 1,000 targets for precision missile fires and sites for marines to drop in and quickly kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the paper reported.

The plan represents a more independent version of South Korea's current plan, which relies on support from US aircraft carriers. As it stands, no major military commander recommends military action against North Korea, which has a staggering array of conventional — and potentially nuclear — weapons pointed at Seoul, where 26 million call home.

But South Korea's new plan to quickly and decisively dominate the North relies on reforming the defense-acquisition process and cutting out wasteful spending to wield the full might of its economic dominance against Pyongyang, according to the report. For that reason, don't expect the plan to take effect anytime soon.

A tv star brings peace into north korea
Jesus christ
A coked-up basketball star from the 1980s and an aging TV reality star with ridiculous hair have done more to further peace and stability on the Korean peninsula than the previous three American administrations combined. Welcome to the future. Isn't it fucking great?

Through the sheer power of nonstop Twitter chimpouts, the former host of Celebrity Apprentice is ending the decades long Korean War.

I fucking love this retarded timeline.

Edit: seriously, imagine trying to explain this image to someone from only five years ago.

He actually pulled it off. I bet the blue check marks are losing their collective minds over this. While I don’t see this as the building towards a unified Korea but more as the North becoming more like China.

So is there anywhere we can read the thing they signed yet?
Not just yet. They're expecting it to start being passed around shortly, but for the time being all we have--to my knowledge--is Trump's description of what's in the document, so it's mostly just a bunch of sentences with "bigly" and "pretty comprehensive" slathered all over it. Thanks, Trump.

Future schoolchildren will learn in history class about how a man who once starred in McDonald's commercials alongside Grimace brought about peace in Korea with his mighty shitposting. It'll be in the chapter before Howie Mandell and Shaq teaming up to end the war in Yemen and Hillary Clinton is revealed to be a sentient roach colony in a human skinsuit.

  1. The United States and the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] commit to establish new US-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
  2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
  3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work towards the complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.
  4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.
MSM is all trying to spin the meeting to make it look like a big propaganda coup for Kim while Trump is merely groveling at Kim's feet for the chance to make the headlines, but I'm glad to see that the footage makes it obvious that Trump is clearly in control. He initiated all the handshakes, initiated responding to the queries from the press, kept grabbing Kim's arm and gesturing with his hand to show Kim where to walk next. It's very clear who is the Chad and who is the Virgin.

Join Statement of President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at the Singapore Summit

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a first, historic summit in Singapore on June 12, 2018.

President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK resolutions and the holding of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his ??? and unwavering commitments to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Convinced that the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Penninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence-building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Penninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following:
  1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
  2. The united States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
  3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 (Some Korean Word?) Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
  4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified. (!)
Having acknowledged that the U.S.-DPRK summit--the first in history--was an epochal even of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries, and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in this joint statement fully and expeditiously. The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-up negotiations led by the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the U.S.-DPRK summit.

(That's the best I can manage to read that, but damn, I didn't expect to see a statement about POW remains in there, that's a pretty sweet addition!)

The POW/MIA remains recovery program is nothing new, it started under Clinton or GW Bush, can't remember which. The problem is that the Norks kept freezing the program whenever they get pissy about American military exercises and UN food aid.
