I've been playing Pocket Card Jockey and it's about the same as the DS version but slightly streamlined. You can use touch controls to play. It's nothing new or innovative but it's a nice time waster like the original.
I downloaded the 3DS demo when it came to the U.S. in 2016 and never played it. Maybe I’ll actually play the Switch demo this time.

If anything, what series do you guys want back given the trend. My hopes are for GCN next. While not my favorite system, it would be criminal to let Chibi-Robo, Cubivore, Eternal Darkness, and other originals rot there. Some other series that may be worth bringing back are Nintendo Land, Custom-Robo, Golden Sun, Starfy, or any of the 3DS titles previously mentioned.
I feel like a new Wario Land needs to happen.

Would love it if they would just combine the Wario series at some point. Wario Land is great, but lacks a strong cast, meanwhile WarioWare has a fantastic cast, yet the games can be rather short. Also, someone add Waluigi to the Wario series already.

Only issue with Wario is that his series has been spiraling since 08. Not even the Switch seems to fix Wario’s sales as titles still lag behind Wii and DS, with Wario Land itself not even able to thrive on the highly popular Wii and DS.

That would require a MAJOR change in how Nintendo does business. Due to the immense amount of capital that would be necessary to break into those industries, the only way Nintendo could conceivably do it in a realistic timeframe and fashion would be via Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). Historically, Nintendo has been hesitant, nearly outright opposed, to engaging M&A, and has only done it sparingly. Nintendo has engaged in it slightly more than usual, which is to say, at all, in the last 10 years, but to successfully break into those businesses, they'd need to pull of a major M&A, which hasn't been in their DNA up till this point.
If they were to distribute their own movies I would agree, but setting up a division in the vein Legendary Entertainment I could see. But you are right 10 to 15 years could be too fast, as Nintendo still seems to be slow and selective on making movies even after the success of Mario, not even a follow up to that has been announced yet. Right now movies/tv shows is the biggest area of growth I can see for Nintendo. They have hit the limits on of hardware/games sales with Switch, the next Mario Kart won't out sell Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and it is unlikely for the switch 2 to out do the life time gross of the first one, so they do need to expand to new business sectors if they wish to continue the growth they have seen.

With toys you are right they would need to take over companies to order to fully switch, while Nintendo could cut the middle man out, thinking about it more doubt they will, if a company like Disney is more about licensing than manufacturing, why would Nintendo put up the capital needed.

Nintendo will probably be the next old Walt Disney, releasing few shows but every one of them good

Any of you faggots have tried the Unicorn Overlord demo? Really interested in it.
I only completed the Prologue so far but it's very much your typical Vanillaware game when it comes to gorgeous graphics/animations. It sorta reminds me of Fire Emblem in a way, with the battles playing automatically when enemies encounter (as it's about getting in the right spot and "positioning"), and there are character archetypes that I sorta recognize (such as Joseph being the old veteran man who is pretty strong early-game but I expect him to be easily replaced by the rest of the cast later on).

Plot is basically a former general going rogue and who succeed a political coup against the royalty of Cornia, so that the former empire (Zenoria) of his ancestors would arise again. He manages to beat the queen in combat and mentally enslave her loyal subjects through magic, whereas the young prince and the captain guard both escape the country. 10 years later, the Zenoira empire continues to expand its territory while the grown up prince prepares a counter-attack.

As of side note, I do remember from the screenshot previews that the English TL regularly added fluff flavor in dialogues for no reason.

It runs very well on the Switch and having the OLED model really makes the graphics pop up even more.

I'm a cheapskate so will emulate it on the Deck initially. So who knows how well that will go. Game does look gorgeous though, so will definitely give it a try once it's proper out and a few cycles of emulator patches have gone through.

I told you guys not to expect much.
I wasn't really, but I am expecting a good regular Direct when it drops.

The only modern exceptions were 3DS and GBA, both of which are distinct in being fallbacks to a risky new system, with GBA not even being considered to be replaced by DS till DS became a mega-hit.
True, if we're limiting it to modern systems (which is already a stretch with GC), but NES, SNES, and GB were pretty good. N64 is one of the few systems they ditched hardest for some reason.

I want a Wario Land 1 or VB remake really.

Don't. The current leak about the Switch 2 release date is 2025 but only because of a recent delay, aka their games pipeline is already largely switched over to Switch 2 and all you have left are cheap remakes, Pokemon and maybe Prime 4. Can Metroid, a Pokemon remake and a Fire Emblem remake that you already know about really carry a whole three quarters? I think not.

Not on their own, but GameCube NSO is possible along with remasters and smaller games in the vein of Pushmo. I also want to believe that Donkey Kong game is happening...

Wario Land VB being trapped in Virtual Boy purgatory is a god damn tragedy. It's almost like a marriage of Wario Land 1 and Metroid, with its huge cavernous levels that are all connected.
It's sad that the one game that started it all is forever trapped in literal crimson blood red pits of Virtual Boy while the rest of that game series is all sunshine and rainbows

Nintendo still has a number of wii u games to port, that could work well on the switch
NES Remix games
Pushmo World
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Yoshi's Woolly World
Zelda WW/TP

Also expect a cross gen period of games to be a thing until least 2026. Switch has a 140 million user base, 3DS and DS the supported for a good while after the successors were out, don't see them changing that this time. Do wonder if Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, is a sign of more 3DS ports to come, would be a way to support the Switch for longer when the Switch 2 is out, games that don't need the extra power.

Got around to seeing the Direct, and it was... kinda shit.

I'm excited for SMT5 getting a souped up version; I loved the original and had a blast playing it a couple years back. Having it on hardware that isn't the Switch will be awesome.

Also lol at Mother 3.

Gamecube NSO is not possible, Nintendo has been very clear in my opinion that they think Gamecube games are of the "modern era" and can be sold at full price individually as remasters. You won't get that for "free."

Oh wow, Wii U ports, that totally won't be a disappointment. Actually, for me it won't since I thought that actually using a Wii U felt awful but I'm not holding out hope for XCX, that will be Switch 2 or bust. I guess you could get hype for WW again, but really I wouldn't be unless they bring back the superior Gamecube art style.

And while cross-gen might be a thing, its equally likely that they don't do it and instead give Switch cheap remakes/masters (they did this for 3DS) and put most new content on Switch 2. And of course, if there are crossgen games they will probably run like absolute shit on Switch, there's already regular non-cross gen games out that run badly.

I think most of the cross gen games will be ports and remasters, just will be both on switch and switch 2. Like I said Nintendo isn't going to leave a 140+ million user base without anything, they know will be still people buying games for the switch and switch 2 for first year or two will be hard to get. Wii U games while disappointing, does make sense as a cheap way to fill out the last few years of the switch, same deal with some of the better looking 3ds games.
