A lot of late N64 titles were switched to be GCN exclusives such as Dojin The Giant, Cubivore and Kirby’s Air Ride. That probably had something to do with it. Cubivore was a very obvious N64 title.True, if we're limiting it to modern systems (which is already a stretch with GC), but NES, SNES, and GB were pretty good. N64 is one of the few systems they ditched hardest for some reason.
Pushmo likely won’t come back because it was a downloadable title. They may as well just make a new game for that price. NES Remix is within the same boat (it did go physical), but I think the 80s nostalgia era was slipping with U, and is basically dead now. Yoshi got Crafted World on Switch, so Woolly World would just be competition. Then Zelda remakes are just remakes.NES Remix games

As an early 3D system, N64 was supposedly an absolute beast to develop for and the homebrew and hacks that have been made in subsequent years show that Nintendo wasn't even utilizing its full horsepower. People making good looking shit for it today have had nearly 30 years to figure it out, but if I were a betting man, I'd say Nintendo ditched the N64 so hard because even by 2001, they were struggling to figure out an efficient way to program shit for it. That's why you used to see shit getting delayed fucking constantly on N64. Gamecube was supposedly much easier. There's a reason they held onto that architecture for Wii & WiiU.A lot of late N64 titles were switched to be GCN exclusives such as Dojin The Giant, Cubivore and Kirby’s Air Ride. Animal Crossing also skipped a generation for the US.
The N64DD became a failure when it hit its homeland in Japan. This explains why Animal Crossing was delayed in the west for a GC release, and N6DD's own title Doshin the Giant was released as a GC title in the west two years after its initial Japanese releaseAnimal Crossing also skipped a generation for the US.
Animal Crossing was not a DD game. AC also wasn't assured a western release at all. I think they left it up in the air at first though obviously we did eventually get it.The N64DD became a failure when it hit its homeland in Japan. The translators are (very) often randomly adding phrases and words that punch up dialogue with absolutely no regard for how it looks in context or that it aligns with the personalities of characters. But it's not quirky funny dialogue either, it's just adding more words for the sake of a higher word count or looking for obscure synonyms online to add this weird flowery language.Like "fuck, shit, bitch" fluff or the ESG/BlackRock kind of fluff?
Alain: Josef, I'll be fine... You should go and lend strength to Mother.
That's actually what I meant to type. My badAnimal Crossing was not a DD game. AC also wasn't assured a western release at all. I think they left it up in the air at first though obviously we did eventually get it.
Pocket Card Jockey got a remaster yesterday.Pushmo likely won’t come back because it was a downloadable title.
I’m surprised they never followed that up with an SNES Remix. I remember playing the first NES Remix all day when it was shadow-dropped… good times.NES Remix is within the same boat (it did go physical), but I think the 80s nostalgia era was slipping with U, and is basically dead now.
I can definitely understand the need for a bit of flavor to add personality but most of these modern localizers have become very careless in regards to how much they add to a detriment. The translators are (very) often randomly adding phrases and words that punch up dialogue with absolutely no regard for how it looks in context or that it aligns with the personalities of characters. It's examples like these that I'm glad I can play Japanese games in their original language, thanks to the Switch being region-free too, and none of this localizer's fanfiction stuff.
Honestly it is mainly the Xenoblade Fandom pushing for a port for X but I would love added content and a continent to Mira as well as the older Customize Features for character creation be brought back.Nintendo still has a number of wii u games to port, that could work well on the switch

Also expect a cross gen period of games to be a thing until least 2026. Switch has a 140 million user base, 3DS and DS the supported for a good while after the successors were out, don't see them changing that this time. Do wonder if Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, is a sign of more 3DS ports to come, would be a way to support the Switch for longer when the Switch 2 is out, games that don't need the extra power.
Yeah, the bloodline bit really felt out of place during my first run through it. But at this point, it's an given that the localization team will find a way to butcher this.and none of this localizer's fanfiction stuff.
These games were really good on the DS. Pushmo, Crashmo and Stretchmo were all a bunch of fun. Along those lines are the BoxBoy games, too. But I think BoxBoy kept getting more games.Pushmo
It was such a disaster in Japan. Console sales were bad but game sales were worse, system was propped in in a big way by pokemon spinoffs of all things.N64 is one of the few systems they ditched hardest for some reason.
If they ever make it, and it has F-Zero as one of the titles... Day 1 Buy, no question.I’m surprised they never followed that up with an SNES Remix.
Those would be great choices, maybe they could tweak the brightness on WWHD a bit (and add the cut content please).Nintendo still has a number of wii u games to port, that could work well on the switch

I think that's true for their bigger games, but I can't see them trying to sell every game they published as a remaster. For example, I don't see them remastering each Mario Party to sell individually (or even as a collection) when they can sell a new one instead and also use those as NSO fodder.Gamecube NSO is not possible, Nintendo has been very clear in my opinion that they think Gamecube games are of the "modern era" and can be sold at full price individually as remasters. You won't get that for "free."
I remember Fire Emblem 64 was a thing in development at one point too, maybe there were more games switched to GC than we know of. 3rd parties seemed to do that a lot as well, Resident Evil 0 and Star Fox Adventures come to mind. I guess that's why N64 had such a tiny library.A lot of late N64 titles were switched to be GCN exclusives such as Dojin The Giant, Cubivore and Kirby’s Air Ride. Since I am not much of a NES guy I was hoping they'd do SNES Remix next too, and though I know they wouldn't bother with such a concept, N64 Remix would be even more awesome.I’m surprised they never followed that up with an SNES Remix.
They did this with GC too. Super Paper Mario and Barrel Blast were both GC titles moved to Wii in addition to Twilight Princess, and probably also Prime 3. Not sure if Wii had any flips given the barren lineup of U.I remember Fire Emblem 64 was a thing in development at one point too, maybe there were more games switched to GC than we know of. 3rd parties seemed to do that a lot as well, Resident Evil 0 and Star Fox Adventures come to mind. Hal kept the series going into the Switch with Boxboy + Boxgirl. But I think BoxBoy kept getting more games.
Metroid Prime 3 actually was initially developed using GC dev hardware, as seen with the only prototype that was seen in E3 2006 Kiosks. And at the rate Retro Studios is going.... We just might see history repeat with Prime 4 and whatever will be the Switch's successor....and probably also Prime 3.
