It was such a disaster in Japan. Console sales were bad but game sales were worse, system was propped in in a big way by pokemon spinoffs of all things.

N64DD was supposed to save it and was an even bigger disaster.

You ever wonder why Sega was so keen to jump to Saturn? The Genesis/MD barely sold at all in Japan. Execs there in the 90s lived in a total bubble, international sales matter but not the same as domestic.

Ironically GC did even worse in Japan.
I still get amazed thinking that Nintendo was making Super Famicom games in Japan up to 2000 as it showed people like that system over the N64

Nintendo still has a number of wii u games to port, that could work well on the switch
NES Remix games
Pushmo World
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Yoshi's Woolly World
Zelda WW/TP
NES Remix and Pushmo were small, downloadable titles; far more likely that Nintendo just releases sequels, which isn't impossible for Nintendo, but I feel that if Nintendo were going to do that, they already would have. Yoshi's Woolly World already got a sequel on the Switch, so no need to port that. The Zelda games were just remakes, and its unlikely Nintendo will bother to port two remakes to the Switch, versus just remaking them again, if they even bother dealing with them again. As for Xenoblade, the Switch already got three of those, including a remake of the very first game. I doubt Nintendo releases a fourth game, especially this late in the console's life cycle. X is a rather large game, and even a remake would count as a major release; more likely the game just gets a Switch 2 port.

Star Fox Adventures
This wasn't a third party title. Rareware was a second party company (they were nearly half owned by Nintendo at the time, and Nintendo had the option to buy the rest of the company), and, of course, Star Fox is a first party IP.

True, but it started out as Dinosaur Planet, not a Star Fox game. They just swapped Fox in over their OC furry and tacked on some Arwing stages. But yeah, I forgot about their 2nd-party status.

It's the NPR effect, retards will always obey what the most dull, droning voices say.

I seriously would not expect anything more powerful than a Steam Deck if they want to keep the price point low, the Deck is probably the absolute best you could expect, but Valve cut it really close and probably take a loss on the lower end models
This is sooper late, but after thinking about it I actually agree. The ignorant will moan at how behind the curve Nintendo is on hardware, but one, that’s how Nintendo actually remains profitable, and two, that’s kind of the limit of what a portable system is capable of.

Because we have the Steam Deck now, right. And the Steam Deck has created a market of Steam Deck competitors – stuff like the ROG Ally and the Ayaneo. And for the current price point ($400-$700), we generally seem to have hit a limit of what’s possible in portable hardware, and it’s right around “about as powerful as a PS4” specs.

The ROG Ally and Ayaneo can push things beyond that a little bit, but the added power consumption basically makes the battery on these things worthless. Which is to say nothing about system heat; the ROG Ally was famous for having an emergency ejector function that would suddenly launch the SD card from the slot like a missile under the danger that it was getting so hot it might melt.

We’re simply at the boundary of what’s possible in that form factor, doubly confirmed by Valve stating last year that we wouldn’t see a Steam Deck 2 “for at least a couple years.” For something this light, this thin, this is as stable and as usable as it gets. I imagine the Switch 2 will be somewhat competitive in this arena, but not quite as powerful or versatile as a Steam Deck. But it won’t exactly be a slouch, either. It’ll be the sort of thing where a $300 Switch 2 will be “good enough” but a $400 Steam Deck will still edge it out in performance.

You're still a nigger. Mother 3 will never get localized.

Since I am not much of a NES guy I was hoping they'd do SNES Remix next too, and though I know they wouldn't bother with such a concept, N64 Remix would be even more awesome.
The thing with a lot of NES games like Metroid and The Legend of Zelda is they are not particularly enjoyable to play through today. NES Remix lets you play the major beats of those games in bite size chunks without all the wandering around for hours, not knowing what to do. I think designer of NES Remix said that was the reason he wanted to make the game or something to that effect when it came out. SNES games like Super Metroid and A Link to The Past hold up much better in comparison and are a joy to play through, so remixing them into bite size pieces so people can experience them without getting absolutely fucking tortured is not necessary.

Mother 3 isn't getting released here because of the copyright controversy and also some of the content is....uhh.....yeah good luck.

Honestly I still think they should release it but who knows what will happen.
There is a fanmade localization made 15 years ago (as mentioned above), but I honestly have no clue what happen to it other than one reason being Nintendo striking it down due to copyright
