I am not sure that Nintendo can fix "made in China" so easily.
Microsoft did it with the Xbox 360 when the Red Ring of Death was a thing, Cost them millions of dollars, but they still did it.

At this point, I think Nintendo's trying to ride this out until the next console. A mix of arrogance and complacency on their end.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land releases day after tomorrow, and if anyone is interested, the final boss has already been leaked:

So it turns out Elfilin wasn't evil all along, but can combine with another boss, Fecto Forgo, to form the game's final boss. Elfilin is the good and compassionate side, while Feccto is evil and wants to conquer the planet.

Fecto Forgo:

Better look at their models:

Other leaks mention a "Species Born of Chaos: Chaos Elfilis", who will most likely be the true final boss, similar to Magolor Soul and Void Soul are the true final bosses in Extra Mode and The Ultimate Choice, respectively.

The game's ending:

Edit: the track's name is "Welcome to the New World!".

Quick summary of the game's lore:
Ancient civilization captures an eldritch being in this dimension(not the standard kirby dimension) and start using its power to mass produce technology. Eventually they use the tech they have created to leave the planet leaving the eldritch being trapped on the planet in a capsule with a portion of its soul as a newer model(elifin) eventually escaping, the compassionate portion. The parasite eventually starts controlling the remaining animal kingdom, lead by Carol and Leon and takes them over and makes them its host in order to accumulate energy, call out to Elifin and begin spreading its influence to other planets and dimensions using Elifin's dimension hopping ability.

Kirby and friends come to the planet because of Elifin's powers and those that got there ahead of Kirby get parasitized. Eventually Kirby defeats Leongar(Leon) and forces the parasite out into the open where it eventually forcably merges with Elifin to become whole again and begin to attempt to parasitize further, but Kirby defeats it and stops it. At the last moment the butterfly comes in and gives the parasite one last chance to beat Kirby, but they are eventually defeated.

Extra mode is about restoring Leon and Carol and the animal kingdom.

Kirby and The Forgotten Land is going to hopefully get a good sequel that will be miles ahead of The Legend Of Zelda’s Breath of the Wild 2 sequel. No matter how well it does, I don’t see people ignoring this game that easily.

If anything, it might get new Switch users to actually play a Kirby game for the first time, so I have no issue here.

I bought my Switch nearly 2 years ago, and I'm lucky the original Joycons still function.

Still bought a new pair recently just in case the originals start to crap out, it feels like a ticking timebomb at this point.

Frankly, I'm astounded that the console's now 5 years old, and Nintendo still hasn't gotten off their asses to fix this design flaw.
My previous Switch model (V2) clocked around 600 hours of handheld playtime in total and I do recall I had only two instances of drift so far, although they fixed themselves by pausing the console momentarily and then resuming. I'm sitting at >200-ish hours with the current OLED model, since November, and no issues so far. But it's up to be seen if that remains the case later.

Not going to deny the joycons are cheaply built but still sold at a premium price though

They are, we're probably only a year or so away from new hardware at this point. When people were flinging their wiimotes through the TV they put out straps. Hell the Wii Remote+ was only on the market for 2 years before the wii-u came out, that was a very late revision that only benefitted a few games. The wii mini was released when the wii-u was out.

They just shut down one of their mobile games and are now cost cutting which usually means they're gearing up for new shit soon.

That's just revisionist history. The Red Ring of Death was never fixed and persisted through every model of Xbox 360 that Microsoft produced.

You keep saying this but it is also wrong. Nintendo is not releasing new hardware in "a year or two" and you're completely full of it. Their release schedule is line up for at least the next two or three years and probably more.

Damn, everything gets leaked, nowadays.

Except I'm not, you had the Nvidia shit leak and Nintendo wanting to put out new hardware itself in the internal memo. And that came out after they said the switch was in it's "mid life" point. The mid life point is sounding more like their third pillar strategies that only last about 3 months before support is dropped.

They're clearly going to pull something even if it's on par with the New 3Ds.

And honestly after spending hundreds of hours with the system, flaws really do emerge. If they could offer even something like a more powerful model without the portability feature that would be great. Have different SKUs for people who play at home and a portable one for other people who own JNCO jeans.

The switch lite is the most adorable and comfy console ever made.

There really haven't been any actually demanding games requiring super powerful hardware for a little over a decade. Even down to pokemon its all just unoptimized garbage on the switch and current gen consoles because the average mindset of the industry is "bettur compooters, pretty graffix" which leads to what we've seen since: Pretty buggy unplayable messes at worst, and pretty bug filled messes at best while all actual creativity and developers are actively gatekept by the industry to shit out shovelware and propaganda made by HR's family and friends instead.

We will never see another type like Iwata rise through the ranks to prominence again until the Industry crashes again.

It's less about the graphics and more about the performance.

The two main things that really stuck out to me was that both Monster Hunter Rise and Shin Megami Tensei had things like level design and layout seem very limited due to the hardware it was on. Rise you can directly compare to World and World had much tighter level design and greater attention to detail when it came to how the world was laid out in one big area. Rise had shit spread way the fuck out which was to hide loading areas because the machine couldn't handle everything at once. That in turn broke the flow of hunts and increased the downtime. Even on PC I'm pretty sure World is still more played than Rise at this point, and the PC version had an HD texture pack made specifically for it by Capcom.

SMT5 had an open areas but it was small and very undetailed, and felt like they had to cut it short of the areas original intended size and scope. There were many instances where you had to keep grinding and grinding because it felt like originally intended aspects of the stage was missing and they had to patch what they had together. Like there should have been a boss somewhere or something to help speed the process along and it just had to be axed because something wasn't working internally. It killed the pacing to that game as well. Then you look at something like Persona 5 which had pretty fast pacing or even the upcoming Soul Hackers and that's one that's skipping the switch. SMT5 really does feel like it was very restricted by it's hardware.

I'm one of those people that has never played a Kirby game before, so I'm pretty excited to start playing tomorrow.

To be fair I do believe that now is the time nintendo may chose to make a new console, the nvidia leaks seem to point to a new chip with dlss, which is pretty safe to assume the next chip will have

Movie usually means there will be games made to bank on movie.

This is the same company that made a Breakfast Cereal Box Amiibo.

Mario games usually are treated as major league events by Nintendo and rarely are thrown together at the last minute.

If ANYTHING, the only tie-in I can actually see being made for the Mario movie is a couple of movie-themed tracks being released for Mario Kart, as Nintendo is making a huge push with DLC for the latest incarnation this year. MAYBE some form of cash grab download only compilation game of earlier Mario stuff or some of the 3D games that didn't get into the last 3D Mario compilation, if we are lucky and the Gods take pity on us.

I think that Nintendo is waiting for their sales to dry up before they release an new console, at this point. Mostly because most of the bestsellers don't have an overwhelming focus on how crisp the graphics are.

I'll give it two more years.

Oh, and there's an new strategy game by Square.

It almost feels one-sided, in an way.

If it's a new game I think we may get something similar to Bowser's fury where it's a smaller game but attached to some kind of remaster

What I'd honestly like is some mass release collection of past games with no limited time bullshit or anything like that.

They never tend to do this though. The 3DS launched while the DS was still doing well. Both Pokemon Black and White games came out before the first Pokemon game on 3ds happened and they outsold most 3ds titles.
