The switch has had the most inefficient hardware since the PS3 though, it's underpowered and a labyrinth of weird bottlenecks that cause development time to increase just to get basic shit to work. It's not streamlined in any way shape or form. That argument only works if the hardware itself is streamlined which the switch blatantly isn't especially since you need settings for both modes.
They had to delay Genshin Impact because it couldn't run proper on the system and that stuff can run on iphones. That's far from a bloated AAA game.
At this point graphical fidelity is a choice because all the systems can run underpowered games. 2d games are not exactly rare. But you can certainly tell in games like MH Rise they had to set a bunch of stuff to lower poly because models like Anjanath look significantly less polished and most detail stuff was more baked in than in World. The game didn't take less time to make either.
The Legend of Heroes, Ys, and Tales games also are not pushing the high end of graphics either and their switch performance was worse than on other platforms.
You can also tell because Nintendo themselves have not upped their output since last generation. BOTW 2 is taking the same amount of time to put out than the Original, and that's being made from the ground up on the system. Also the Switch pro parts that we know of, show they're planning on upping the power of the machine. So Nintendo themselves are aware that it's lagging behind if their new system is sourcing parts to put it much closer to it's competition.
