It's more that there are no connections from either a gameplay standpoint and theme setting between the Famicom Detective Club and the Myst series, they're far too different from each other on a first glance. That and the weird tangent afterwards with no source as usual from the guy.

Western point-and-click games and japanese adventure text games are whole different beasts with their own design approach.

The price is actually fair considering the production values present in the remakes, and that they remain faithful to the source material nonetheless. Unlike a certain remake that I still consider one of the worst game remakes in existence
Just admit that you don't like the Myst Series because the art direction isn't anime colored crap. By your logic, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest should have nothing in common either. But you know what, people compare them because they're part of the same genre. Game genres are not defined by things like settings and themes, but mechanics. Which Myst and Detective Club share a good number of similarities because the DC games were from an era before Text Adventures became VNs. Myst and it's sequel Riven, stem from the Text Adventure genre. Colossal Cave Adventure and Zork was the OG grandaddy of the whole thing.

You can buy RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition on the Switch and that would probably be the better purchase than getting Detectives Club at full price. It's put out by Cyan Worlds itself.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=5R-EuaUbPvcHmm... the game looks okay.

Speed and battle golf look fun and the return of single player is cool. Buuuuut I dunno. I don't want another bland Mario sports game. Gonna wait for reviews.
The game looks good, I'm hoping that it has the same netcode thingy that Super Mario Party and Monster Hunter: Rise has said to have. If they have small updates with more characters added over time and possibly game modes (which, by the looks of it, is highly likely considering everything else), then I'd say it's a good enough game with it's own content and fun that can be had.

That being said, I can't wait for the sperging of the Nintendo E3 presenentation this year when anime sword fighter #15 gets into Smash :)

Oh, and watch E3 have nothing of absolute notable games except something like Splatoon 3 and BOTW 2 news and more Mario and not Metroid or F-Zero, or Pikmin 4, or Wario Land, etc.

How the hell do you do that (without a modded console.)
What do you mean? As far as I am aware the Switch (assuming you have kept it updated) can handle cards of up to 2TB. Back at release the capacity was much smaller but they've been increasing it over time. Problem is the cards are expensive beyond half a gig.

I havent even maxed out the 64gb one I bought for my switch, tho I mostly buy physical games
Something about disks and tiny cartridges... just doesn't do it for me anymore. Old cartridges and boxed PC games are more of what I like. The DS line of systems is when I started going digital. On the on hand not having the physical version is a risk. But on the other hand I take care of my systems and I've got a ton of great games to play. And I keep a spare (unused) system in case I need to do a transfer or whatever. Though I suppose an accident will wipe out my library. But at least for now I can still redownload things so it's not a issue.

In addition to what Radical Cadre said, it's also easy to fill up a 512GB microsd card if you strictly buy digital. There is also a lot of games on the system that individually take up around 10GB-15GB in digital format, a few are even bigger.

It's still night-and-day compared to the more restrictive storage of the proprietary cards with the Playstation Vita. 80 bucks to import a Vita 64GB card in 2014 versus 60 bucks for a Samsung 512GB microsd last year.

Vita cards were cheap for years because most were new and unopened while being listed as sold as refurbished. They were called unbranded on Amazon up until the store closings got announced, but a 64 gig would usually run you 40-50 bucks. The price is still spiked for the hardware but that's mostly due to many a youtube men spreading awareness of stuff long after the fact. Like you're not going to find a used vita for 100 bucks like it was when it was pre-pandemic.

Like if you ever seen image like this pop up while looking for vita cards, it's a refurbished official Sony one, they just photoshopped the Sony brand off of it. There's only like 1-2 companies who bothered hoarding vita equipment to re-sell. These were all sold stateside or in Canada.

From one mongoloid to another, I cannot recommend realMyst in any of its incarnations. It's a neat project. And Rime was nifty. But it's just not right.

The Uru games are comfy as shit though, despite being janky.
The gog port of Uru is pretty good. I know they quasi restored the online component, but it's a complete experience as a Single Player game.

Have you played Obduction? I know it's made by Cyan Worlds itself but many people prefer equally modern games like Quern over Obduction.

Talos principle becomes a a bit too repetitive for me since all the puzzles use the same 3-4 elements of blocks and lazers. They needed to switch up mechanics for each zone.

I have played both Obduction and Quern and each of them were great! Those are two adventure games I can easily recommend to anyone that enjoys the genre. Did not play Talos Principle.

But let's talk about Uru for a second. The GoG version is fine. That's all good. I actually played the retail version back in the day and I can vouch for the online stuff being pretty great. It's also a very weird and neat community... that is still online! Go here: https://mystonline.com/en/

You can download the entirety of the game and the servers are still up and running thanks to Cyan themselves. It's definitely not what it used to be, but on weekends you can find a good number of people playing and hanging out doing their own stuff. One dude runs a radio show live every other Sunday from the Cavern and has been doing so for a years. It's one of those things that I feel like you don't see too often anymore. Uh, one major difference is that after Uru shut down the first time, a lot of the players went to Second Life. So there's going to be some faggotry happening too... which is part of the charm. Anyway, check that out. You can form groups and play the game together through the single player and multiplayer maps. If you (any of you, really) want to play through it, let me know. I'm down for some anonymous spelunking. It'll take a couple weeks to finish everything.
