The Nintendo diversity bullshit isn't new, they've been doing it since the Olympics were first announced for Japan. I don't see why people are getting mad about it now, it's too late at this point if they were hoping to change anything.

Animal Crossing New Horizon was made by one of their diversity hires and people bought that shallow interior decorating game in droves.

There's a weird thing among the Nintendo Fandom to excuse the actions of NOA because they're not viewed as the real company and therefore they don't count. While that's true to some extent and NOJ did strip them of some of their power around the tail end of the N64 and Gamecube when it came to the issue of big decisions. Everything NOA does has to be OK'd by Japan so Japan is aware of all their marketing campaigns and everything else. So it's not Treehouse pulling one over on the company, the company is well aware of everything that goes on in there.

But the fact is the western game market is Nintendo's primary source of revenue. Americans spend the most on all their stuff by a large margin. It's why iwata died they hired people to give their expertise on the american game market, even their interim CEO was granted his position due to that. Hell it's why they're going with western animation studios for the Mario Movies.

Japan's game market is 20 billion but only around 6 of it is intended for consoles.

Japan makes up a ton of mobile sales accounting for around one third of the market globally, but this is all phone stuff, it's not consoles. When people say mobile gaming it's IOS/Android.

NSO would be a lot better if you had the option to actually purchase those games. I get they're going for a netflix sort of thing but there's a lot of money just being left on the table, very un-Nintendo.

Correction, the localization of Animal Crossing New Horizons was made by a diversity hire. IIRC, the Japanese version still makes you choose male or female, it doesn’t say to choose your “style” or have villagers give you both male and female clothes.

Only the english language didn't have the names below the icons.
I also remember the names of the holidays got changed in English to have less religious connotations while the japanese version just use the actual names

I don't know what is stopping them from porting both remasters of Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie to the Switch or Rare replay to PC, lets not forget Conker Live & Reloaded, a game that hasn't gotten any re-release to newer platforms.
 
So the Mario 3d Allstars had a limited physical and digital release and now they're doing retardation with the N64 titles being digital subscription only.

Since it sounds like they're already sourcing parts for a New New Double New Switch it makes me wonder if this is even transferable. Nintendo's own network is flat out ass and thus far nothing digital has been grandfathered over on any of their systems. The System is going to be 5 years old and we're just getting a trickle of n64 games.
