From what I read they're still doing premium memberships, they're simply increasing the price "to keep up with inflation" and overhauling the payment system.
While i respect them for making mod makers choose fame or total control , nexus is still ran by retards who milk every dime they can out of their userbase , i hope they bump it up enough some twitter warriors get pissy and throw a massive fit.

Premium memberships never bothered me. I mostly ignored the shit because I have no problem playing another game for an hour while waiting on a download or letting something download while I sleep.

The fact they charge for faster downloads annoys me a lot , for a site as big as theirs , there is no good reason why they need to limit free users to only 2mbs a second other than to annoy them enough to pay them money.

Actually no, it's an attempt to get people to panic buy it for an increased price before they remove it all together.

They're specifically talking about the lifetime premium memberships, which will no longer be available after the price increase on August 3rd. I can see it being the case, tho. Drive up demand for lifetime membership to get a lot of instant cash then take it away before a price increase to all other memberships.

Ahahhaha, I just realized I didn't type in "lifetime" memberships part originally, my bad for the miscommunication.

Holy fuck the tismscism going on in the comments listing everything from their new TOS "breaking" EU's laws that allow people to be "forgotten" to Bethesda's own TOS. These changes will overall make modding easier for players who wish to use these mods. Like look at this fucking tard who wrote a novel saying its wrong to do this to the poor mod developers.View attachment 2320455
I read all of one paragraph and then stopped reading, this person should be punched in the face repeatedly.

>Yearly billing.
Kinda sick of more sites doing this instead of just a one off payment. I don't have enough money for websites that'll kneecap themselves so they force you to pay, which is basically a patreon system which sucks.

I have to side with Nexus on this controversy solely because their position, regardless of their actual intentions, results in those mods being readily accessible for time to come.
You never know when some guy who made something is going to sperg out and delete fucking everything.
Some times it's fine for the dev to remove the mod, like the guy behind I think TK Children? His mod was being used by pedophiles. He didn't want to be associated with that which to me is the right call. Then you get mods that get removed because of "toxicity" or other bullshit.

Meh, he didn't have anything I used and like most modders on the site he didn't bother to update his mods regularly.

I can understand wanting to distance yourself from things like that, but it's annoying to see mods be forcibly removed by the creator or locked behind a wall because they simply feel like it.
It's just annoying when there's something I want to install, but it's inaccessible and will be forever lost because the mod author is a bitch.

I'd even call it worse than having a mod behind a paywall, at least the mod is accessible in that state.

This is why when I find mods I like I archive them. It's one reason why I always have large storage hard drives to keep them around. It's not like a lot of them get updated so I don't have to worry about versions.

All I hear of is the userbase screeching at every change, what's so milky about the staff?

Got another one lads

One of Skyrim's most popular modders is pulling his work from Nexus Mods
another one.PNG

"Popular mod-hosting site Nexus Mods announced recently that users who upload files will no longer be allowed to delete them. It's planning to add a collections feature that will let people assemble lists of compatible mods to download with a single click, and if a mod that others rely on was deleted that would break any collection featuring it. Instead, modders will be able to archive work they don't want on the site, removing a mod's front-facing pages while leaving the files accessible in collections they've been added to.

Some modders aren't pleased with the move, and have been taking advantage of Nexus Mods' policy allowing files to be deleted if they apply by August 5. The latest modder to request removal is Arthmoor, who is responsible for Skyrim mods like Alternate Start - Live Another Life, which lets players skip the intro and tutorial and has been downloaded over eight million times, as well as Cutting Room Floor, Run For Your Lives, the Paarthurnax Dilemma, Open Cities, Ars Metallica - Smithing Enhancement, and more. Arthmoor also has mods for Oblivion and Morrowind on the site, and is requesting they be deleted too."

Basically Arthmoor the guy who did open cities and alternate life plus a heap of other shit for skyrim, oblivion and morrowind is deleting all his stuff to stop nexus to stop him from deleting his stuff

MO2 is a superior mod manager, but I'll gladly use vortex if it means I don't have to spend two whole fucking days to set up a modlist. Seriously, there's a hundred full modpacks for minecraft that are a simple 1-click install and no one has a problem with it. But it's taken 10 years to get anything similar for Skyrim/Fallout because mod authors decided to bitch that they might not get enough attention, as if I know anything about half the mods in my list anyway.

Bethesda game mod authors are attention-whoring drama queens. I can’t remember a time when they weren’t. Even back when I played modded Oblivion religiously, the community was full of whiny, entitled mod authors with whiny, entitled fans. At the drop of a hat, any one of them could go “No, fuck all of you! You haven’t sucked my dick enough lately!”, and delete their entire collection of releases just because one or two trolls ticked them off, and then, you’d be left hunting for a Megaupload link from some shady underground mod dealer.

Anyone remember AlienSlof?

Other than this amazing outburst and ragequit, she was also known for some other lolcowish things, such as running an entire site dedicated to Xenomorph erotica throughout the 00s called Slof’s Hive, which she rebooted in the 10s as Slof’s Lair, which appears to now be defunct.

She also had a fetish for fantasy twinks:

Christ, why can't this mod community be like the that oblivion modder who got hired by obsidian and worked on new vegas. The sperging is annoying

I find it funny and hypocritical when mod authors are extra primadonna dramaqueens about people making things based on their work or doing anything with their mods without express individual permission when as modders they're literally making things based on other peoples' work and they dont run every single mod they make past game developers or IP holders first.

Most modders start out making small personal projects , eventually they make something they think is good enough to put out in the public eye , and then they start their modding "career", but some modders never get it in their stupid heads that they are putting shit out in public and expect the same level of control as when they were the only ones with the mod. In current year plus whatever , too many people put themselves out in public while still expecting the same level of privacy as when they were private
