I scoured level 2 for more than an hour trying to find the last secret, but struck out in the end. I bet it was some super obvious destructible wall that I overlooked while looking for every crevice that I could wiggle inside.
I looked back and it's a fucking missable one near the beginning AND it's one of the health boosts too. DAMN IT.

Playing on Very Hard and it feels like I'm playing Blood on a higher difficulty. My only complaints are the same as the previous Chapter's which is that the enemies kind of blend in with the rest of the palette, the dynamite/throwing feels off compared to how Blood's dynamite works for example, and at least on my machine there's something about the mouse look that feels "sticky" if that makes any sense at all.

Otherwise, absolutely loving it. Levels are huge, each one is taking me an hour or so. Love exploring simulacra of actual places a la the best of build engine games.

Ah. Well that will be for a second playthrough. I was operating off the assumption that secrets could be collected at any time, but I suppose that isn't a law of boom shoot design.

The speedy fuckers who jump you like you're an unattended child put my teeth on edge. My compliments to the chef.

Started Chapter 2 and it started really good, I was wondering why I remembered the first chapter negatively. Then I reached the Fair Ground level and I remembered - The game can be a massive slog.

Just finished the train level and it's the best example I can give. Let's look at Blood's train level:
Short, sweet, one of the most memorable levels in video game history. The whole level takes on a train with different compartments.

Now let's see what happens in Cultic:
You start at a train yard, then go unto a train (without any interesting compartments), go unto another train, stop to look at a spooky house, go into a third train, have a big fight at a second train yard, and then the level ends. It's just a slog, especially if you are secret hunting.

It's not even impressive visually or mechanically, every compartment looks the same, and after the first train you pretty much had all the "combat on a narrow corridor" you can stomach.

Blood was iconic for a lot of reasons- Horror and gore through and through. A shotgun to rival DOOM's SSG. Punishing hit scanners ramping up the difficulty. The train level was a blast and is a reason why modern FPS games always have one.

I need to not be a cheap ass and just buy Blood Resupply for the bug fixes. I hate that I'm playing into their money grab.

EDIT: Nevermind. I'm playing BloodGDX and can download the 2 extra mods.

The dynamite having physics was also great. Pinballing it into an ambush will never get old. Sadly, the times of video games technology being anything beyond how much particle effects can be crammed in, is long gone. Also ironically, after the game reduces the amount of hit scanners, the difficulty drops significantly.

As for Chapter 2, now reached the final stage. Pretty much everything before the Fair was great, but afterwards the levels get too large and cumbersome. And it feels like the gane may as well be on rails for how much it forces you into setpieces.

Yeah, I'm with you a bit on how large the levels can get but overall I'm really enjoying it. Unsure if I made a mistake playing on Very Hard because the game is fucking punishing, like I'm playing on Extra Crispy.

It had potential, but every other word is "shit".
Interesting monetisation model they have. Base game is free, but there'll be purchasable DLC expansions down the track. Kind of of reminds me of shareware.
Even the monetization is retro. I just played the first level. It looks so much better than Wolf3D with no blockiness. The shooting and secrets are fun. They capture the fun gameplay loop of Wolf3D. I'm here for it.

Started Incision the other night. I'm enjoying it but questioning my difficulty choice. The visual fidelity is I think too low for my reflexes and it's hampering my enjoyment of the bizarre world it's set in. Enjoying it though, even if the life system doesn't quite work in my opinion, at least not for me at my skill level.

Also, the music and environments are so deranged that it may have been causing some (temporary, hopefully) brain damage.

Sister of Battle will be playable on Boltgun 2:
The game will also feature branching paths according to its description:

Is beyond citadel any good?
No. It looks atrocious, and runs poorly despite looking worse at times than actual shooters from the 90's. I couldn't be bothered checking "THE LORE™" because if I can't enjoy the game on those 2 important aspects, I won't care about it.
Also guro lolicon incest shit from what I could gather.

But try it out for yourself, don't just take my word for it.
