Very cool video game. Also a great marketing strategy.
Perhaps this post belongs in the stinkditch.

Great strategy! I bet this will definitely get people to buy your game! Also i'm honestly shocked that Spectra has genuinely alright graphics and isn't some horrible low quality mess. Oh, i'm sorry, I mean a "PSX inspired art style".
Demo released, it looks like Cruelty Squad with plastic dolls:

In other tranny-made shooter news, Sprawl Zero got announced:

Since the studio behind RUINER has announced the sequel, I decided to pick up Metal Eden, another of their games, and so far it has been a blast. I haven't played a "boomer shooter" in a while and this thing feels just great.

Give the demo a try!

I played the first SPRAWL and fell off very fast because it felt like absolute shit to play.

Wasn't helped by the devs implementing some fuckass retarded QR code scanning thing to read lore/codex entries on your fucking phone which didn't fucking work 90% of the time, and their counter to everyone rightly saying it was retarded as fuck was to say "but coding a menu to hold lore snippets is haaaaaard".

All that being said, that trailer for SPRAWL ZERO makes it look like it plays way better than the first one. Might pirate it if I remember it exists at release and I'm not busy with something else.

It's comforting to know someone else had the same issue with Sprawl, I reinstalled the game 5 separate times and I never got past the third or so level. Then it boggled my mind hearing it be so well received online.

With Sprawl I thought it was strange how no one mentioned that the dev essentially copy and pasted entire paragraphs straight out of Bungie’s original Marathon for the lore in the game, found in the collectibles. I know that game is three decades old and sort of obscure but still, I’d have figured someone somewhere would have said something but apparently not.

Edit: the design of the pistols are also straight out of Marathon 1

- people would have to play Marathon
- they'd then have to come back and play SPRAWL after playing a better game
- they'd have to magically get the QR codes to work to even see the Lore in the first place

Can't say I'm surprised at them stealing the lore though, given the aforementioned 'creating a menu to read lorebits is too hard' thing.

I can't actually recall anything about QR codes, or actually having to use your phone or whatever to use them. The lore drops, such as they were, were in tablets scattered around the maps, and they just displayed in normal text through the menu.

Looked it up, an update ditched the whole format I guess, bottom post here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1549690/discussions/0/3826424631141110549/

Oh good, I remember them talking about ditching it because it just had way too many fucking issues.
The tablets had scanlines and fuzz on them that interfered (an update made them much clearer), you'd have to position your character to try and get the QR as head-on as possible, and then people's actual monitors were also introducing visual interference.

Absolute nightmare, frankly it was more entertaining than playing the game.

That first video with a super-soy faced guy making recipes for Nazis is peak, unintentional comedy. Looked like one of the devs accidentally filming himself. And yeah, the trailer was this close to have a FUCK DRUMPF! somewhere.

I just got the most recent shooter humble bundle, mainly for sulfur and night dive killing time, and it came with Fida puti samurai a horrible named game about fighting your way though your friends hentai vr simulations. The only real reason I bring it up is that the devs have a neocities page

i really like the gunplay in sulfur and the basic premise of the inventory system but the economy and meta-game are just astoundingly badly designed. the upgrade system is so bad it's unreal and you basically just end up grinding the same four oils to make decent guns because the pro/con system just isn't thought out, and most of the guns have weird gimmicky methods of operation that totally don't even work with the game's upgrade system. the guns designs ARE fucking awesome, it's probably the best part of the game, legendary firearms design going on here. the basic premise of the gunplay where every enemy is a 2d doom cutout but you can blast/cut holes in them is a very very good concept, the basic systems are phenomenal. The quick melee is extremely fun, extremely high skill cap, and really addicting. The problem is that its great gameplay loop stuck in a shitty game

I really liked the game for about forty hours but then i just snapped. the game's first four levels or so are a tight loop where you fight an exciting boss battle but the forest and fortress after it feels like a bunch of random piecemeal shit thrown on top of it and the very thin narrative the game has just completely dissolves into you just doing shit for no reason. Why are we fighting ninja turtles, again? Like... cool, but... what does this have to do with the cultist dungeon we just cleared? Why didn't we fight these guys in the literal fucking sewer level with the TMNT references? Personally story doesn't matter but the game treats the story as something that's driving the player's motivation even though the game doesn't even attempt to play storyteller - the game's opening cinematic literally starts off with you crashing a car and chasing a witch into a cave and it never gets mentioned again. The food economy is a clever idea but the last time i played everything after the dungeon felt like you were playing a expansion pack for an MMORPG where everything pre-expansion doesn't matter anymore.

game has a lot of potential but im nearly certain the devs aren't able to make it work. i hope im wrong and i'll give it a shot if it ever releases 1.0.

Beat BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT and enjoyed it but was kinda disappointed. BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT is like slayers x but instead of a build game made by an edgy Linkin park fan it's a Brazilian quake mod, it's trying its hardest to be bad while still being an enjoyable game. The gun plays is good because it is literally just quake, BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT is more mod then game. Problem is you adjust to its purposeful jankness very quickly and while only about 3 hours it felt like it overstayed it's welcome. I did get some good chuckles like the horrible 3d sculpted dog, the rocket granade launcher and when it had two save statations in the same room. It's the type of bad that makes you know the dev knows how to make good shit. Still I perfer slayers x, the big hubbub around BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT made me expect some cruelty squad level game when it was just a kinda funny quake mod.

I'm only a few hours into it but agree. The oils feel simultaneously required and useless. I love the almost survival horror esque gunplay and scavenging but it really needs some balance changes.
