Don’t tell me we’ve got style-less clunky bullshit because gotta fit both sexes, as opposed to interesting armor that’s different? * sigh *

I'm a woman as well, but I prefer playing male characters. All this cross-dressing has done for me is give me more open helmets (I normally wear the glasses anyway.) I'm not putting my male character in a little skirt. I wouldn't really care as much if they also bothered making visually distinct beta sets in HR. But, that didn't happen. Just part of cutting corners.

I’m a woman, who plays as female characters, when character creations is a thing, and I’m really getting tired of less options to actually be feminine and fun.
I've spent most of my formative years around creative communities and honestly? The best female designs I've seen, both in character creation and drawing an OC, are from dudes. Generally they seem to pick an idea, a few colors and then go all-in on that. Women however do the 'so obvious you forget it's a thing' of packing in tons of details you'll barely notice, mute colors and overall it results in a nice simple character but yet so hyper detailed it's a slog to visually enjoy or I guess draw a second time.

On a more related note: I like having two variants of each armor. You can't mix and match armors in MH games, so having two of the same style that you actually CAN swap between is great. Male armor with more 'revealing' female head, or an entire set and the torso from the other. Worked great on the monkey king'esque set.
This got me wondering: Specifics of the weapon itself aside, how do HH players experience their role as support in Wilds? I reckon a lot of potential buffs you could hand out lost a lot of their luster with how forgiving and streamlined many parts of the combat have gotten. There will always be earplugs and atk/def up I guess...
I love playing support in games where it's not mandatory and not often done, and HH is the example I always bring up, but yeah I quit it in Wilds cause even though there's so many ways to generate notes, what do you play? Keep up buffs, sure, of which most are just generic overall buffs now rather than completely neglecting something like rot in World, but when I've actually seen good HH gameplay it's just repeating the same move over and over, bonking the monster's head. Now you achieve that by playing and timing buttons and all these new systems just to.. do decent damage on top of buffing everyone else. That's it. Yeah echo bubbles are great but mostly it's just another thing you gotta remember to set up for the sake of the hunt. Cleansing or healing is huge and exactly what I want in a HH but still it just feels.. off.

I remember hating having to play music outside of combat in World to guarantee it actually going off, but also hating the auto-play of Rise. Wilds seems to hit a good balance and yet just, feels off. I think they need to introduce new music as baseline and not the Rise shit of "play 3 songs and you get to play a bigger damage song". New concepts, something like idk, a song that amplifies tiring out a monster so instead of seeing that crying lizard exhaustion phase once, you see it 3 times. Something you feel other than "I didnt have to use my own potions as much".

The bubbles felt exactly like that for me until I just considered it a bonus. Being able to queue up three notes in a short period of time is great. If mons aren't getting staggerlocked, they move around too much to worry about stacking your bubbles.

I would be fine with this system, instead of a sterile one-size-fits-all approach. For a game about hunting monsters and using them for weapons and clothing (which is my second favorite gameplay element), i just think they’re leaning too hard on uniformity.

I agree with you too about the better designs I’ve seen being (ironically) from men, with the exception of Japan. I think for me it’s about 50/50 men/women, when it’s not from some infected company like (modern) Capcom.

I already said before I think it’s more Cheapcom being cheap, but I know they have their political religious tract that leaked they have to follow too. I think this is another area Western and Japanese devs will lose to China and Korea if they don’t get it together. (And no, I’m not talking about naked simulators, but designs that compliment feminine and masculine designs, and flow cohesively with their setting)

The removal of gender specific armor is step 1 into phasing out the differences entirely and leaving you with just one gender neutral blob, mark my words. They took out gunner armor and replaced it with alpha/beta, and you already see that they kept the naming convention alpha/beta, but made them slight recolors instead of redesigns, which you could already essentially do.

That’s definitely coming, unless before the next Worlds/Wilds line game they have a shakeup. Not only is it cheaper, but they’ll win obedience points.
It’ll probably get more streamlined in general.

At least there’s the Rise team. I know Rise had issues for some vets, and rampage should be reserved for pedophiles in hell, but it still had more ups than downs for me.

I would rather do a hundred rampages than a single zorah ever again. Ironically, the rampage mechanics would have been really good for something like shen gaoren or lao shan lung, but I don't blame them for dropping everything to do with the mechanic. Wish the apexes got a bit more love though, but at least they weren't cut like almost a third of the world roster was going into iceborne.

Speaking of Rise, finally got back around to 100% it today.
The grueling climb to lvl 300 Afflicted Investigations is what burnt me out eventually. But despite that I still really like Primal Malzeno's fight. Probably my favorite 5th gen monster. The fight actually feels on the wire and a dance.

Design is boring and HR in games now. Like get the fucking bingo grandmas out of the design departments already.

That would be the fucking lamest.
I'm just fed up with fun=sexy boob armour. How the fuck is my carachter supposed to fight a elder dragon in knee deep snow wearing programing socks and hotpants?

Problem with many games, as I see it, is that fun=sexy and that's the only way you can be "feminine" wich is just troon think.
I too want more inspired armour, more sisters of battle and less deviantart.

I don't wanna be as pessimistic as to say "gender blob incoming" but it's pretty fucking sad that the second you have a choice it's deemed "cross dressing".
Not aiming this at anyone in this thread but because that's what it's for, to play "sexy femboy trap", not providing cool clunky options for women.

I'm just bored to death by coomer shit

That’s just your lack of imagination tbh. There’s a lot of room for a spectrum of flattering feminine armor, and that black & white thinking is why it’s so lame now.

If women not wearing bulky male bullshit to please ugos and those very troons who like the socks = coomer, you need to take an art class and expand your imagination like designers of yore.

I don't think MonHun will go the way of newer Pokemon games or Splatoon of doing gender neutral clothes. Considering some old monsters always return, they still can "port" design over. They even give Gypceros female set a long skirt for waist piece instead of short armor skirt.
There are still revealing female outfits from new monsters, Chatacabra, Xu Wu, even Arkveld - especially female legging with entire buttcheeks can be seen with any short waist piece. Although, the most popular one I've seen is any combination with Blango female chest piece.
There is also this underclothes option to "turn off" revealing part.

Usually, the armor sets have similar or exactly same design for both sexes are usually the paid dlc ones or pre-order. Go have a look at Rise dlc on steam, you'll see. Comparing those to title update and event armors in Sunbreak, Marine set, Lennigan, Dusk, Reflet, Clockwork, Cielo.
I don't think Capcom is dumb enough to not do distinct outfits between male and female, especially if female version can be revealing (tummy and/or thighs). Even Western games is slowly going back to that (real money payment), OW2 with Le Sserafim and recent 6th anniversary for Apex. For Apex Legends case, yes even a MtF troon character (far right - Spell Lifter) get one in the google link.

Ive been recommend Rise and from what i looked, it looks more fun than Wilds and the aesthetic is easier on the eyes than the cinematic one that Wilds is following.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, although the Wirebug mechanic took some getting used to. Rampages annoyed me, because "Why the hell are we blocking my progression with a forced Tower Defense mission" but I got used to them. That isn't to say I enjoyed them, but I made peace with them.

Come to think of it, now might be a good time for another playthrough because it's been long enough and I feel like I get a little better as a player each time. Blood Orange Bishaten was mentioned upthread and I couldn't agree more, that fight is fun as hell.

The female armors look about like what you'd expect from MonHun at this point. Some aren't all that different from the males(Rathalos), others are have pretty big differences(Jin). Part of me thinks sometimes people just assume the female armors have all always looked like the Kirin set or something.

I'm legitimately confused at the complaints that both armour sets look the same. There's clear differences with one variant always been far more revealing than the other, especially if you tweak the display of your undercrackers.
