Visuals aside, out of all the storylines they could've gone for, they chose "transport into a magic world that the characters have to get back to while defeating baddies".
I mean fuck, they really couldn't have went with one of the better options, which is have inhabitants in the Minecraft world come across a massive dickhead in their server/world and try to kill them that way?
Or have a friend become corrupted from Power and go ape shit with it and try to stop them before it's too late?
Or fuck it, just be completely by the books and make a story of a player entering a world and defeat the evil ender dragon while befriending villagers along the way.

Fans have made amazing shit with the Minecraft IP over the last 15 years, and the fact that this is the best Hollyjewd can put out is further evidence we need THD to happen.

I predict it will actually do ok in theaters on account of, well, children. Not well, just ok. How many kids do yall see walking around in minecraft shirts? For me I've seen alot.

This will, however, for many children be the first disappointment of watching corporations with no connection or love for the thing they like try to profit off of it. Many more hollywood disappointments to come, kiddos. Sorry.

I don't think kids would like this at all

I thought movies were suppose to have attractive looking people. Jack Black looks fucking disgusting, he's fat and unkempt. He's greasy beard and middle-aged long hair. Protruding gut. He looks like a homeless beggar except he has money to stuff his fat face. How did he become a Gen Alpha kids movie ambassador?

i just prefer to call him "jackass" from now on. you and everyone else should too.

How many fucking recent kids movies involve a plot of being transported to a magical world? Harold and the Purple Crayon had the exact same plot and that really well at the box office. Like, it's Minecraft, a game where you unleash your creativity to build stuff. You're not exactly restricted on ideas here.
You forgot "cartoon goes into the real world (New York)" that's also really popular.

I think it's just because it's the easiest premise you can make without needing to be so invested into the source material to, you know, come up with something cool and original. And anyway what kind of movie could you even make with Minecraft as a setting? The game's more of a medium for whatever you want to do.
