metal gear solid 3 might be the only game that kojima ever made where is "magic" actually works. good balance between cinematics, gameplay, tone and his retarded quirks. again its a shame what he did to the IP after 3 and im glad konami fired his ass.
Honestly, the only parts that take me out of the game are the parts where The Boss monologues.

It's like "You have a four hour time limit for Virtuous Mission, lets spend 15 minutes discussion the philosophy of war and why I stopped training you."

And then you have the whole thing at the end where it's just like "I was the first woman in space, and I was at cuba, and I was at normandy, and I did this, and I did that, and I want the world to be whole, blah blah blah"

Everything else flows fairly well.

The happy go lucky support crew being the Patriots is the most tone deaf shit ever in the series.
This is a problem with gaming retards, though.

MGS2 came out, and for some reason people wanted to know *who* the Patriots were. Or at least the wisemens committee. And it's like...it doesn't matter? It's like playing MGS1 and wondering "Who's the Pentagon?"

MGS3 came out, and was basically just like "They're rich influential people from the US." and retards were still like "Who are the Patriots, tho?"

So like...if they want it to be someone tangible, who else COULD it be besides the characters that are already in the series?

It was the same shit with the Shadow Broker in Mass Effect. I remember people being like "Who's the Shadow Broke?" as if it was just magically going to be someone you met in the first or second game. At least in that case, they made it some alien you never met.

Nerds are compelled to always define and categorize and systematize everything. No ambiguity can ever exist for dramatic effect because that doesn't fit neatly into the Wiki page for the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center.

Well to be fair to Kojima, the Patriots were technically a bunch of nobodies. The first group of Patriots being Zero's close allies and then after he had his falling out with Big Boss over the whole clone thing, he made AIs the successors of his ideals.

About the only thing MGSV did right was showing Zero in a situation where he had nowhere else to turn and was betrayed by one of his own men (Skullface) and forced into less savory tactics because of his strained relationship with Big Boss.

Didn't really need to explain why he was a vegetable though, dude was like 100 at the end of MGS4 we just kinda assumed he was like that due to age. Even when Kojima gets it right he screws it up.

Mati posting. I liked the fox engine from mgs5, I think delta should've used that. I hate this Unreal 5 epic games nigger shit.
A friend pointed out to me "maybe they don't even have any employees left who know how to use the fox engine anymore", it would be a shame if that is true. People online keep saying "it's the art style bro", but these game titles using UE5 look all samey to me.

I hate some of the little extra animations added for realism, such as how if you approach a body from the side and try to drag it, Snake takes like an extra 3 seconds to orientate the body first, then picks it up. Was this really necessary when you can still pull an AK-47 out of your belt and all the items you find are floating and spinning in the air? Why choose dragging bodies as an aspect that needed to look more realistic? It's clunky and annoying now. See also how guards you hold up now take a couple of seconds to slowly squat down, gently place their gun on the ground and stand up, instead of just dropping the fucking thing.

Had a humerous encounter where I held up a guard but then grabbed him before he surrendered his weapon. I dragged him still awake to an electric fence for the free kill, but I accidentally touched the fence first, got electrocuted and knocked to the ground. The now freed guard then continued to surrender his weapon and put his hands up, whilst Snake laid there almost dead on the ground in front of him.

I am still waiting for my remakes of MG and MG2SS.....
please. I even take a remake of Portable Ops! That game had soul!
Now that I think about it. It would be cool if Portable Ops got a Crisis Core Reunion treatment. Thought I get a feeling just Peace Walker will get that privilege.

It would be really funny if Konami just makes a whole new timeline and replaced MGSV with MGS5 and just redo 5 but with David Hayter as Big Boss and pretend all that Venom doppelganger nonsense never happened.

Imagine spending so much time and money on a proprietary engine that you fire your ultra-high profile producer over it, release one half-finished game and one terrible, broken, universally-reviled game, and then let all institutional knowledge of it wither and die.

Konami executives really should've commit sudoku for such staggering incompetence.

Wasn't there at least a few Pro Evolution Soccer games that ran on it, too?

Believe what? It's clearly unfinished - nearly every other Kojima game has a retardedly long, bombastic, overwrought ending whereas MGSV just suddenly stops in the middle of the narrative. I'm not critiquing a bad ending - I'm saying it doesn't have one at all.
And it was in development for five years and you got 60 hours of the same eight missions. We got the intended game and some pipedream bullshit left on the cutting room floor won't magically make it a good game.

It's okay to accept the fact Kojima didn't care about making it and used the money to make hollywood friends. That's the core message of V.

I'm not implying it would've been good. I'm saying it would've been finished.

None of the other Metal Gear plots are particularly good, but they do all end.

If the game wasn't finished because Kojima didn't care and wasted the money, that still means it wasn't finished.

you can rescue some lore from the shit kojima wrote after 3
1.- big boss mercenary arc
2.- big boss being a shit father to liquid
3.- young solid snake at foxhound

you can make a legit good game with those things. add kojima power ranger shit and you have something cooking
