Always keep in mind that while you're seeing a new version of an old character that ticks off the current trend boxes, the visible DEI bullshit belies real reason the money decides to go in this direction; they only have a finite time to exclusively monetize any character they make. New versions of those characters are exclusively theirs for the copyright timeframe. When it works, you get a Wally West, or a Hal Jordan. Someone only you can use for 99 years or whatever it is.
Batman and Superman will be public domain in the next 15 years. While not all their stuff will be coming with them (most of it was introduced over the 80+ years of their existence through different mediums) immediately, it'll also trickle in as time goes on. Marvel will have an original Superman and an original Batman at some point in the next 40 years. They have lots of similar characters already, but they'll have the original versions as well if they so choose. By 2040, DC will be able to use Steve Rogers' Captain America.
These things become like Robin Hood after enough time.
