They should have aimed to get someone like Cavill who is as professional as they come but no. You had to cast an unknown with a seedy history for your multi-billion production. It's always the diversity hire that fucks up big.

It's kinda hard to find someone like Cavill, half of it due to finding a guy who has actual love for his hobbies, & enthusiasm to work in it. Alongside the professionalism to carry it. Other half of it is that Disney squashes careers, with the way things are going for Disney, I don't think any big name who is like Cavill would wanna work with them.

Also, the best role you could give to Cavill himself is something like Zoran, Virtue, Hyperion (people actually want Henry to play him), or the best of all, Sentry, who is supposedly played by Steven Yuen in the future, cause Disney thinks the blonde schizo-chad should be played by a Korean guy, eventhough he's perfect for Amadeus Cho.

I don't know if Cavill is well-versed in the comics lore of the Marvel comics/source material, but if he is, he'd probably give the movie directors/showrunners headaches like he did during the Witcher series. He's dedicated to the source material, and he reportedly shot down a lot of the suggestions that the Witcher showrunners wanted to do for the show simply because it's not how Geralt was portrayed in the books.

Thing is, in this case, those "headaches" are not some star tantrums, but for the greater good. A single scene he rewrote, where the writers ironically wanted to go Joss Whedon Marvel, is considered to be the best of the show. In fact, Witcher creators are part of the problem plaguing Hollywood rn.

If anything, someone like Cavill is needed to call out the bullshit when someone at Disney fucks over characters, even if MCU has saved some characters from their own comics like Scott Lang.

Oh, the Mohan guy is shady as fuck and a total creep but yes Disney let's celebrate the creepy pedo religion.

As for Majors, this explains why he was dropped they probably received the intel last Friday and proceeded to meet over the weekend between companies and unilaterally ditch him. So it's like most of us predicted an Ezra scenario but what does the company do? Safeguard women and deny him power or be afraid of being called WACISTS!! That's the problem with ideology Disney you can't choose, you have to stay in one lane and never veer left or right.

Driver is actually a good actor but totally wasted on Star Wars, he is one that needs good direction. He was fantastic in Klansman.

It's always fun when Hollywood's creations turn back against its makers, especially when it's pretty clear the guy is at fault and its not some woman he worked with and had an affair 20 years ago decided that there's blood in the water.

Read enough American comics including Marvel and DC and you will find someone(s) who're open to selfcest. Marvel and DC in particular due to the whole multiverse and clone shticks.

Deadline.com has reported that GotG 3 is tracking for a $130 million opening. This would have to improve if Marvel can step up marketing, which to date has just been "see these beloved characters like uh, the tree...one last time."

It's not even the bones of a story, it's just "hey, kids, superheroes!" Of all the Marvel franchises this one may be the most generic, practically a CBS sitcom sandwiched by layers of FX. Gunn has the "uh, so that happened" writerspeak disease even worse than OGs like Whedon, etc. He's awfully fond of having a big dramatic moment and then immediately undercutting it with some "zany" lines.

Between with what's happening with this and with Majors Marvel can't catch a break, and if Guardians 3 does worse than its last outing, it will be a long, torturous (for Marvel) wait until Marvels with it's three incredibly unlikable main characters is released to be the next probable disaster.

See that is my problem too Guardians 2 is worse than one because the script is just incredibly meh. I agree with you fully it feels like Whedon, his stuff ages horrifically. Remember too the Deadline prediction is the optimistic one too. So these are the bad domestic projections, remember the Disney reports don't take into account how much they get in actuality according to AMC the studio takes 41%.

So this is taking into account domestic with a 65% drop off
Opening weekend - 130 000 000
Following the weekend 65% dropoff - 45 500 000
Following weekend to the opening but 70% dropoff - 39 000 000

It's speculated that Guardians including marketing cost at least 400 000 000. If Guardians 3 bombs then we need to sit back and speculate further on the damage to the Marvels. One thing I have noticed with this film is that there is no hype at all with it even with Thor 4 there was something but with this there is nothing. Disney's approach to Marvel films making their own money is fundamentally flawed. I think too there is no star power in this film which may make it a bomb, star power still makes money and this film does not really have any. I think too if Guardians does bad like really bad like 650 000 000, we will be seeing a multitude of reshoots. Disney's current answer is if it does not test well reshoot but reshoots are expensive and there were none done. I will go to see it but as discussed it's so tonally different from its predecessors that I worry that will effect the marketing.
